[Game Thread] Lord Windos’ PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands
Exclamation

Darren carefully watches the sleeping Flutter Mane, deciding what to do "Sneak attack, or catch, or leave it be..."
He knows that if things go wrong, it would be hard to know if Aaron would be able to help him in time. Darren sneaks behind the Flutter Mane, and throws an ultra ball at it, from the cover of the grass

You utter madman

Fine, let's see how far you get.

For you own sake, I'm having Darren send a Message to the Group saying he stumbled upon a Flutter Mane, and that if he's not back or heard from by Night then go looking around the Beach Sand Dunes and search for the Hidden Ring. Probably won't save you if things get, uh, B A D , but at least its SOME risk mitigation...

First, let's see if you can actually Sneak Up on the slumbering Wicked Whimsy....

Stealth Check
DEX (3) + Survival (2) + Stealth (*4 [Tall Grass])
vs
FM's Alertness
INS (8) + Survival (5) + Alert (*0) - 5 (Deep Slumber)

(3)(3)(3)(2)(1) (1)(1)(2)(4) vs (3)(6)(5)(4) (3)(1)(1)(2)

Hoo Boy.

You end up tripping on a concealed log while trying to skulk about, creating a muffled yet LOUD *WHUMP!*

Wake Up Check
8D6 + 2 Successes  ; 7 + 1 Successes Needed
(5)(5)(1)(1) (6)(5)(5)(4) + 2 7 Successes, BARELY not enough.

The effermaeral creature lets out a strangely cute yet errie *Snort!* , as if it was about to wake, but thank your Lucky Stars it just settled back down. Phew.

You manage to get in position without causing anymore racket, hefting a Ultra Ball with a nervous look from Solona. Is what you're about to do really a good idea?

Hell no, but with how primed the Slumbering Mane is to Wake Up now getting away is about as equally harrowing a proposition now.

Welp, you dug your grave....

*Throws!*

Time to see if you lay in it.

Capture Throw
DEX + Fight + Throw + 2 Success (Stealth, Deep Slumber)
(1)(3)(4) (4)(3)(2) (3)(2)(2) + 2 EXACTLY Critical Capture - Double Successes on Capture Roll, Ball Won't Break and Return to you Automatically!

In a flash, the Ghost is sucked in.

Seal Strength: 6 + 4 (Deep Slumber) + 1 Success (Slightly Relaxed) X 2 (CC)
RESISTENCE: Will (10) + Disobedience (7) - 1 (Poor Sleeping Spot)

[(2)(3)(1) (5)(5)(6) (4)(3)(5) (3) + 1 ] X 2 = 12 Successes !!!
(1)(5)(6)(1)(3) (2)(2)(6)(3)(1) (6)(2)(6)(4)(1)(4) 5 Successes !!!

Malefic Monstrum PD: Re-Roll Half of RESISTENCE DICE, and Add them to previous Successes;  + 0  Success due to Successful Stealth Slumber Snatch
(5)(1)(5)(4) (4)(3)(1)(4) 5 - 1 = 4 + 5 = 9 ...

Wickedly Whimsical Wraith PD - Wrathful Wrought Wail!
12 - 9 + *3 + 3* Fortune vs 5 Fortune (FM)
(5)(5)(4) (3)(1)(5) vs (1)(3)(2)(1)(5)
Crosses (Two Fives) , 2 Success and 2 Faills vs Snake Eyes, 1 Success and 1 Fail

...
...
...

*Click!*

The Ultra Ball dings, signaling a Successful Capture...!

T h e n  a l l  H e l l  T r i e s  T o  B r e a k  L o s e

▂▂▃▃▄▄▅▅

You feel yourself flattened into the earth, bowled over and clutching your ears and howling with SOUL DEEP P A I N as the Contained Flutter Mane Awakens and R A G E S, F U C K I N G F U R I O U S at whoever had the U N M I T I G A T E D A N D M O S T I D I O T I C G A L L to T R I C K her when She was B L O O D Y R E L A X I N G ! ! !

Oh when she gets OUT, w h e n s h e g e t s o u t , n o t h i n g s h a l l s a v e y o u ! ! !

Blood streams out of your ears, your eyes, your very pores as you hopelessly Endure the Supernatural and Supreme Scream of this most IRATE banshee, the Ultra Ball slowly looking like it was going to burst open and Break...!

...Which is all cut-off as your fire ant leaps on top of the Ball, enveloping both it and her in a photo-negative sphere, chittering with EQUAL fervor and FURY at this wretch wraith trying to kill her Servant and being such a poor sport!

You GOT Caught! End of Story! Submit ! ! !

N e v e r ! N o ! N o t w i t h o u t a F r i g h t a n d a H e l l o f a F i g h t !

Very well!!!

Your queen to be duked it out with the Sheer Spiritual Spector of FM's Presence, tussle with the Ultra Ball and kicking up a ghastly cloud of glittering red-pink sand that obscures all within.

A full minute passes of angry chittering and fainter screaming....

Then,

Suddenly,

Quiet.

....As you slowly get back up, coated with your own blood and feeling P a i n like never before, staggering over the small pit to find your precious princess....

....Knocked Out, Critically Injured, but Alive, a satisfied and defiant look on their battered face and form. Beneath them, clutch in her legs, was the now Purple and Pink Stained Ultra Ball, a feeling of most Sullen and Grudging Acceptance emanating off of it.

When you pick it up after returning/treating your Smore you wince as you FEEL the Flutter Mane within look at your SOUL with a spiteful, curious gaze.....

...Before with surprised, delirious laughter She recognized who you were.

Oh what a twist this was!

Mercy given.

Mercy taketh.

Oh what an absurd ending and beginning that was!

AH HAH HAH HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAA~~~!!!

Her laughter is the last thing you hear as you collapse in the sand pit, Blacking Out....

----

@Dragonstrike

Whatever time it was your Phone chimes with a ear grating BLARE . Simulatenously you (and everyone else @Iron , @Redstone , @PhantomUnderYourDesk , @Spiritmon) feel your Astral Stone warm up with a dull, dreadful warmth....

Darren was in Dire Need right now.

And, judging by the Alert Seddi got about a Flutter Mane being recently caught and Contained somewhere at the Beach's 'wilds' ....

Fuck.

She goes over to a terminal to rely your decision to whoever that was, leaving you alone at the bar with not much else to do.

(afk right now, but a quick response)

Bernhard makes a u-turn on his way to the music hall and basically combines Cyan Surge, Agility, Zephy's flight skill and double Quick Attack to get to him. That way he's probably going among the first people to arrive at the scene.

And IMMEDIATELY has Nirix's cast Healing Wish over Darren (not via Evocation, Nirix is summoned to cast the move himself). That should patch up the worst wounds for starters, does it?

Make sure the Bug Enthusiast is safe first and foremost, ask questions later. He missed the chance to help Oz, he's not going to miss another chance to save a travel companion .

Nothing to do was convenient. Feeling his stone doing the same thing as it did during Oz‘ incident was *not* a good thing. Time to storm out the bar and towards the location.

Yup, with resources like that and other factors, you're MORE than able to break the sound barrier to *ZOOM!* over to where you feel Darren was in danger. In the process you badly startle the people at the MA Hall at your sudden and BOMBASTIC departure, worried looks going all around at whatever caused a Scimitar to immediately book it. This also includes that mysterious pair, who, judging the situation, decide to abandon whatever they were trying to do and quietly leave, not a single person noticing....

***

With Extreme Speed (yet far too slow for your liking), you managed to find where Darren was at between the Astral Stone's Guidance and the message he sent moments earlier, touching down and marching over to where he laid buried in the rosy red sand pit.

Yes, buried, for in Blacking Out his fall caused the sand around him to partially cover his body. Outstretched and Strangely clear of sand, though, was one of his Arms, Holding a Pink/Purple Stained Ultra Ball that radiated some of the most bewitching and beguiling Magic around. Almost like a cross between Morgana's own imprit and that of that Unearthly Ralice you inadvertidly made....

The poor boy, from what you could see, was drenched with his own blood, staining everything and the sand around him, with trails of it still slowly oozing out of....everywhere. He's very, very Badly Injured

As you try to unbury him you Flinch away with a startled hiss as you felt potent, whimsical, and unfettered R A G E and S p i t e  energy seeped into him like a badly stained dish rag. From recent past experience with Ralice and Saph, you know without a shadow of a doubt that Darren is inflicted with a Curse, and a most Malignant and DEADLY one at that.

That Malignant Curse (FM) will have to be treated first, unless you want it potentially playing merry havok on whatever Healing or anything you try to do with the bloody Bug enthusiast ...

It'll take you awhile to get there compared to Bern, but you eventually get there with Kayla literally help you charge to the rescue , getting you past a lot of what would otherwise be roadblocks or busy crowds. As for the damages thereof....well, hopefully they it can be forgiven after all is said and done.

===

I'll get back to you once Bern has the chance to at least try to Treat Darren, since he got there First and FAR faster than anyone else, even with Pokemon Assistance.

Nox knows Wish*, it's unusable via the Gauntlet so she has to be summoned. Bern's not giving a f#ck that the others will see Nox and perhaps recognize her as a Nuclearmon, saving Darren is more important. Could that help with the Curse?

EDIT: It should indeed @Lord Windos, given what's stated in my notes about Malignant Curse:
Quote:Adds Recoil to successful attacks, missing attacks hits you instead, chance effects and effects of non-damaging attacks have a high chance of rebounding on you instead or helping the foe.

Unaffected by Lucky Chant. Requires a Wish or some serious shaman work to undo the curse.

When the stone grows warm, Vernax hops on Dodrio and races there once again, this time far too late to help. He puts a hand on Dodrio's flank and says, "This wasn't your fault, Dodrio, nor mine, really... but you know what? We will train and train at speed until we can never be late to anything again. Unless we want to be. Taking the long way home still has plenty of advantages."

Oh yeah, Nox has Wish* ! That's - !

Wait.

Stop.

As you Summon Nox - who looks startled (then curious) by the sight of a bloodied mostly dead human - and prepare to request it to use its innate Wish granting capabilities Zephy STOPS you by flying over to close your mouth with a *Clink!* !

"Bernhard! STOP! Think for a moment about who and what you're asking to perform a Wish."

You peer at Nox - who is now even more curious about things, letting out their/her characteristic *Rrrwwwvvvrr?* as they cocked their/her head at everyone - who's faint glow was illuminating the slowly darknening area -

Oh.

"Yes. Bernhard, this is a Chimera Pokemon. A radioactive , HIGHLY mutagenic, mutable, and simply Arcane creature when you get down to it. Sexy and powerful as they are....any Wish they make is likely to come with....side effects, to say the least. You SURE you want to risk the boy's wellbeing with it ?"

"There WILL NOT BE ANYTHING LEFT to save if we do not have her cast a Wish*. Zephy, dear, have A LOOK at Darren here.*gestures to him wildly* Side effects are the lesser evil compared to blatant death by a curse."

Yes, we do have Equi cast Wish*. Oh boi Darren, what have you gotten into here...
