Oh, after having rushed to the Center the others and Oz are (with the same speed as previously), Bernhard definitely wishes to stay with Darren, watching over him if he is allowed to. And just in case, he also requests a mild sedative to calm his own nerves. He's...not really up to talk, but will provide answers if questioned (aside from the question why he fled, he'll sidestep these by saying that he has his reasons).

Aaand his current Held Item is his remaining unit of Kitsune Crimson Rope. Got to remember to work/weave it into his robe later on to make it a powerful  protective piece, if that Flutter Mane's staying in the party(??!!!)

Given your Status, the Nurses are more than willing to let you watch over Darren, and they're quick to take Nirix for healing (will take a little bit, but will be ready soon). You're not given a sedative, however, since they don't have any that can be appropriately given for your level of anxiety or without a prescription (Sorry, but these Nurses are Professionals even through Scimitar Love). Once you make clear your desire to NOT speak about things the staff and Law leave you be, not wanting to Disturb the Moody/Anxious Wizard and also respecting your Right of Privacy/Status as a Scimitar.

However, their is ONE individual that isn't afraid to give you a piece of your mind.

You can feel Zephy - still Invisible - floating in front of you, having just come back to have what you think was a quick chat with Seddi. She doesn't say anything yet, but you can feel her immense disappointment and can almost image her crossed arms and stern frown.

...Okay, then Bernhard remains anxious as heck and filled with fear like he hasn't been in...months, at least. Years even, maybe. Note to self, Bern: Get yourself a prescription for an SSRI or SNRI when you get the chance. No shame in needing the help of medication to calm your nerves.

Speaking of 'calming your nerves': Without him doing anything, Spritzee summons himself from his Friend Ball; and promptly lands on Bern's shoulder. He gives his treasured Master a comforting coo, nuzzles him gently (which he appreciates in this case) - and this goes so far that he learns Calm Mind for 17XP, which Bernhard casts over himself via Evocation right away. (I actually wanted to collect for Misty Terrain, but given I now have a Dargon Type with me, not the smartest idea perhaps. Raising her unique Magic Speciality comes next)

...Much better indeed. The small pink puffball is allowed to stay out.


Now...to Zephy. Unimpressed and disappointed Zephy, to put it in better words.

We won't even try. Instead, letting out a deep sigh, and hide our face in our hands - one may also hear Bernhard let out a very faint sob (no tears though). In the faintest voice there is: "...I'm so sorry. I will not even try to reason or explain myself to you, dear Zephy. I am...so very sorry... Be as angry with and disappointed in me as you wish, for that is what I deserve; on top of the blame I am already putting on myself....."

Silence reigns for a while. Bernhard remains there by Darrens side, putting the blame on himself and loathing in self-hate and disappoinment over himself. Every now and then, he very faintly sobs, face still in hands.

When that sudden MESSAGE of WARNING came in, he almost jumped out of his skin. Aaaaand that former expression of horror and fear from previously returns on him; however now there's a slight undertone of something else in between the lines:

Determination.

He staaaaares at that WARNING on his phone for quite a while, then, painfully slowly glances over to Zephy.

"Zephy, dear, my most treasured and destinied mythical partner... Please do tell me thus: Will it...make you feel better about me if I do lend my aid in this case? Will you...help me and stay by my side handling that....thing with all the others?" He glaces out of a neaby window, then back at Zephy, a sudden stable posture on him. "The city of Bayhama has put their faith and trust in me, has it not? How about...we go and show them that this trust and faith has not been misplaced?

"I am...fearful, scared, anxious indeed, severly so, but..."

"...but...."



"..Please give me the chance to do what is right. A hero I am not, never wanted to be one... However there is no running away anymore from what has been started, now is there? Please...help me in this...fight. I am counting on you. You do mean the world to me, and I don't want to see you loathing me, Zephy..."

- Stats and Specialities for Equinox WITHOUT the bonus of the Radiant Topaz (will count these in myself). I'm lacking these yet, but I plan to have her involved.
- What the Accuracy Roll and priority for Cyan Surge is. Aka +1 or is it higher given it triples her speed.
- Green light that both Equi and Nirix will be battle-ready for this Encounter without penalties, aka have the nurses patch up both enough to be fine.

Current Scene - Akamu being carted into the Center with his grisly yet SLOWLY healing Lethal wounds on top of Ecclessia, who is looking very tired and yet ready to pound whatever gets in her way into gravy . Kusanagi enters just a beat behind them, visibly tired yet undaunted and perfectly composed, satisfaction and irritation warring over her scarred, blinded visage. Seddi and the rest of the group can either be waiting for them, or with Darren as they watch over them. One of the group could also be taking to a Ranger/Officer about the situation too, if they want to put up with them.

Oz's eyes could not comprehend what she is seeing right now.

Most of her sisters are out of her Pokeballs (with the exception of course being Hecate). Oz was brushing the fur of Meza, to help with her appearance. Oz could see clearly. The people are dying. And the numbers are only increasing. And more destruction is ahead of them.

She didn’t want to face a disaster of such a level but….

Before she could stand up, her shoulder was stopped by one person. A Pokemon who knows her long enough to know what she is about to do.

Glinda.

“I know that look of yours. Doesn’t need the Soul Bond to know what you are thinking. You DIE and get back to life yesterday! You could die permanently this time! You are NOT going there.”

Then all of her sisters came to agree with Glinda. That creature is way too powerful. Maybe the only exceptions are Persephone and Bethy due to their ghost nature, but even they are scared of that…”thing” causing so much destruction and its malice around the city.

Even Fortuna, a calm experience witch she is, Adamant agrees with Glinda. She is old and experienced enough to know when a challenge is way too much for her and her Coven. Especially to her foolish student and sister! As the second alongside Glinda in command of her Coven, she will not let Oz go there to war and potentially die!

Oz for most of the time only heard her sisters saying to not go there and throw away her life like yesterday. She listens and listens until…

“STOP! PLEASE!” She shouts, trying to silence her Coven of sister for just a few seconds, trying to put some attention to her sisterhood. When she makes sure she gets their attention, she speaks.

She looked at each of her sisters. “...I'm done being a coward. I’m done feeling pity for myself. I’m done running away from responsibility. I’m done in letting fear and the demons of my past control me.”

"*Huffs, Stern Tone* Yes, friends - you're not fooling me or anyone else with that pompous, aloof, know-it-all, holier than thou Scimitar attitude you like to affect with others. Seddi, Akamu, Oz, Darren, and Vernon ... we haven't known them for too long, but we BOTH know they're good people we CAN rely on when the chips are down and the paint runs dry. Like with Acrowls, the Scholar, ugh Morgana, and of course Terra. We can Trust them , Bern. In a LOT of things. ...I know is scary to....give that sort Trust back.  It's hard. It's difficult on you. *Haunted Tone* Gods, how I know. *Tone Sad*....But I also know that you'll regret it if you don't even give them a CHANCE to prove it True. "

Zephy draws closer, and soon you feel her gently cradle your head. A rare gesture of support and comfort - one she only uses when the time is right or when you need it most.

The two of you take that period of silence to just....hold each other. Reflect. Regain your own resolve and confidence, and put away any lingering notions of self-hate and resentment on your hasty decision. 

You may have made a Choice you've come to regret, but that doesn't mean its the end of things. Not this time. Maybe not ever....if you choose to do better for your friends and yourself.

Oz's eyes could not comprehend what she is seeing right now.

Most of her sisters are out of her Pokeballs (with the exception of course being Hecate). Oz was brushing the fur of Meza, to help with her appearance. Oz could see clearly. The people are dying. And the numbers are only increasing. And more destruction is ahead of them.

She didn’t want to face a disaster of such a level but….

Before she could stand up, her shoulder was stopped by one person. A Pokemon who knows her long enough to know what she is about to do.

Glinda.

“I know that look of yours. Doesn’t the Soul Bond know what you are thinking. You DIE and get back to life yesterday! You could die permanently this time! You are NOT going there.”

Then all of her sisters came to agree with Glinda. That creature is way too powerful. Maybe the only exceptions are Persephone and Bethy due to their ghost nature, but even they are scared of that…”thing” causing so much destruction and its malice around the city.

Even Fortuna, a calm experience witch she is, Adamant agrees with Glinda. She is old and experienced enough to know when a challenge is way too much for her and her Coven. Especially to her foolish student and sister! As the third in command of her Coven, she will not let Oz go there to war and potentially die!

Oz for most of the time only heard her sisters saying to not go there and throw away her life like yesterday. She listens and listens until…

Oh boy, I LOVE going through Da Bullet Points!

- Normally I would say that Seddi wouldn't recognize Royal Jelly of the top of his head, since he's neither a Native Tandorian, a proper Researcher, OR a Bug Ethusiast like Darron, but even with his Limited INS he can put two and two together once he sees the unusually LARGE and Mature Smore that is still clutching the RJ rather possessively, even when Fainted. The Nurses are understandably scared shitless about what you shared, but they didn't let it stop them from giving Darren and his adorable ant the best treatment they can get. Heck, they get Elite Deluxe VIP Treatment since, regardless of what they did was FUCKING MORONIC, they did help catch and Contain the Flutter Mane that has been terrorizing the city.

- Linking into that: Once Seddi is able to Confirm that the Flutter Mane has been successful Contained (using his own Legal Powers, + maybe Bern sending his own confirmation), EVERYONE that participated in said Situation gets $10000 Poke, while Oz and Vernax get $5000 each for their own contributions. The Bounty on Containing the Flutter Mane was $50000; if Darren had actually managed to somehow limp out of the Hidden Ring with his 'prize' he'd would've been able to claim it all for himself. Alas he didn't, so his rescuers and relief team gets their share of the profits.

- Glinda is rather surprised you're not angry at her for essentially kidnapping you away from Kusi, but if you're not making a fuss out of it then she isn't either.

- Continuing off from Confirming the Containment of Flutter Mane, the Nurses and a Ranger grimace but quickly assent to your request to temporarily detain FM from Darren.

- You try calling the Professor....only to get sent straight to Voice Mail. Then, a minute later, you get this text:

[Seddi, I am currently occupied myself at the moment resolving this: somebody tried to break into the IC and GTS to sabotage it again. Unfortunately for them I was there fixing them. They have been dealt with. Unfortunately they committed suicide rather than be detained, and their Pokemon subsequently went brain dead - I suspect a psychic link facilitated that. -Aaron would end up contacted anyway, since Darron has them listed as their Primary Contact for Medical Emergencies, but he also can't come either, for some madman just so happened to try and kidnap the people of the Center he was aiding and working at. He's fine - the ones who did it are not. However, they opted to....disintegrate themselves with personal explosives when defeated; nothing of them remains, and Aaron got critically injured but is still alive from the blast. From what he later texts to the group, though, is that they looked like a cross between midevil paladins and clergymen, and they looked VERY surprised that Aaron was both there and salient enough to Resist....whatever they were doing to Bewitch the Center.

For the Time Being, Aaron is too Out of Action. Mentor like Mentee, eh?

- Kusangai just....sighs and shakes their head. Then....

Seddi was afraid that might happen, but he'd figured it was worth a shot anyways given the Flutter Mane had behaved so far.

Once he recovers from that brief defensive action from the FM, he'll wave the nurses off.  "Just make sure Darren's okay first.  He needs the help more than me.  And make absolutely sure that pokeball stays in his bag.  Or hand, if need be.  I don't want that critter causing any trouble here.  I'll talk with Darren about it when he's up.  Looks like someone's stuck with this ghost whether he likes it or not."

Glinda's puzzlement is met with a shake of Seddi's head.  "Ya did exactly what I asked ya to, Glinda.  Kusanagi's the one I need to talk with if she survived.  Hopefully she has enough sense to retreat if she can't handle it alone.  Not much glory in battle if nobody's there to witness it, victory or defeat."

He'd also return the medical supplies Oz had lended him. He hadn't needed it, thankfully.

Two instances of this mysterious group showing up during the festival to continue what they started?!  Gosh darn it, he can't catch a break today, can he?!  So much for trying to relax today with Oz for a little bit...

Kusanagi's statement gets a frown from him.  Oh great, it got worse.  Joy.

He sighs, then nods.

"Don't strain yourself.  That was a lot.  Certainly more than I was expectin', and even more besides from what you're sayin'."

He's not going to let this create a rift between them.  Not on his end at least.  Hopefully Kusanagi won't be bitter about that attempted tactical retreat against the power of a Malefic Monstrum.  If this partnership is going to work, they need to have an understanding with each other, of the limits they're both willing to go to in service of accomplishing both their goals.

...Okay, then Bernhard remains anxious as heck and filled with fear like he hasn't been in...months, at least. Years even, maybe. Note to self, Bern: Get yourself a prescription for an SSRI or SNRI when you get the chance. No shame in needing the help of medication to calm your nerves.

Speaking of 'calming your nerves': Without him doing anything, Spritzee summons himself from his Friend Ball; and promptly lands on Bern's shoulder. He gives his treasured Master a comforting coo, nuzzles him gently (which he appreciates in this case) - and this goes so far that he learns Calm Mind for 17XP, which Bernhard casts over himself via Evocation right away. (I actually wanted to collect for Misty Terrain, but given I now have a Dargon Type with me, not the smartest idea perhaps. Raising her unique Magic Speciality comes next)

Now...to Zephy. Unimpressed and disappointed Zephy, to put it in better words.

We won't even try. Instead, letting out a deep sigh, and hide our face in our hands - one may also hear Bernhard let out a very faint sob (no tears though). Bernhard has literally nothing to say or add to Zephy's words and her reassurance. They simply...touch him on a very sensitive nerve, he just..lets them sink in.

And at the end of her words, as she gently cradles his head...he cannot hold back tears anymore, and he does not care whether Zephy sees these. He'll let her dry or catch these even. All the anxiety, all the happenings, all the troubles and problems from the previous days, him feeling like a most beloved plaything by Father Fate, Miss Fortune and Lady Luck, and noooow the regret and self-loathing and blame he puts on himself... There's only so much a man like Bernhard can handle without something breaking inside.

But...let's not worry about this just now. Let's just...look ahead and do what's right in Bern's book.

There's no real need to convince Equinox to listen to orders, as using her moves via the Gauntlet bypasses disobedience (very handy!). Still, Bern does desire to summon and have a word with the glowy creature: "Oh dear, where to begin.... Equinox, dear. This shall be...the first time I'll be making use of your powers and unique skills. Do not be afraid and let me draw upon them for the greater good... *glances out of the window, then back at Umbrelong with a mild smirk* Let us see how that...THING....can handle your unique skills of radiation, now can it?~" He gives her a gentle headpat.

Same with Nirix, Myra and Spritzee, they all are summoned and receive reassurance and the request to allow us drawing upon their power for what we feel is RIGHT. "You may not know... But... All of you, as my magical companions, you do mean more to me than you might think. Please..lend me your strengths. For I rely on them. Without you, I'd be nothing and weak... If any of you may not make it out alive... Know that it will not be in vain. Our time together remains, and that is what counts." I don't really have much to add about your Pokemon's initial reactions, for they are just wonderful. + 1 XP for good RP!

Ever so slightly, you feel your War and Wonder Witch's Ball shake, as if in agreement with her other Sisters.

Before your coven could really get into Pounding into your skull why you SHOULD NOT do that frankly STUPIDLY SUICIDIALLY RISKY FIGHT, you're own impassioned screech abruptly silences them all. Their eyes are wide as you panted from such a outburst, and from there you had your chance to plead your case to them.

To get them to listen and understand WHY this is something you must do.

Slowly, you feel yourself beginning to suffocate - You got enough time and air to try and do something about Hecate, your grief, anger, and horror field child, before she strangles you into Faint. The rest of the Coven watches on in Shock, too stunned by what in dear GOD was happening to immediately react...

Oz was made of all kinds of ordeals she was forced to endure. From her harsh training as a Sky Scimitar. The failed mission where her friends and companions died. To use their corpses as a hiding place. And to abandon her region and old life to live the life of a wanderer witch.

None of these ordeals can compare to the ordeal she has to endure now.

Oz had to try to hold her face throat in the ground, trying as best she can to not lose consciousness, but she knows it is a losing battle. Hecate is stronger than her. Then she decided to try to talk, do anything to stop her.

Which is a very difficult thing when your daughter is strangling you.

“He-Hecate, p-p-please. Y-Y-you hur-hurting m-m-me!” Oz could barely speak, the pain was too much.

She began to feel her mind going away, little by little fainting.

Damn it…My friends need me…I…I can’t believe I will fail them again. I can’t fail them again…I…Can’t…

Damn it all…If I just had my gauntlet I could do something…If I had a way to focus spells, I could try to use a Teleport or at least a Phantom Force…Something I could focus my emotions somehow…

Wait…”focus”?

Then it clicked in her head. A gauntlet is nothing more than something to focus the power of Pokemon with the Magi. An artificial way for humans with connection to Earthpower to connect to their Pokemon and use their moves and powers. And summon spells.

While strangling, she tries to move her neck, seeing her necklace: The Key Stone.

It’s a shot in the dark…But it is her best chance.

One hand of Oz tries to hold Hecate as best she can.

“Hecate…I know you are hurt…And I am sorry…I am sorry for what I did to you…”

With the other hand, she grabs her Key Stone, her necklace, and show in front of Hecate.

“I…I should have trusted you. Should have trusted you, and thought about how you would feel. This Key Stone and the Mega Stone on your head is the symbol of our trust!”

Oz then closes her eyes, trying to focus the spell she has on mind.

“You are my daughter, my pride, my everything. And I love you. But I am also a medic and a healer. And I must heal people and Pokemon hearts. This includes you, sister! I refuse to give up on the people who need me! And I refuse to give up on you, my beloved daughter!”

She then uses the connection with Hecate herself, using her Bond as a way to help deepen the focus and call upon her Move: Aromatherapy.

Key Stones have the power to connect trainer and Pokemon, using the bond between the two to make the Pokemon evolve BEYOND its limits. The Mega Evolution. And to summon a Move so powerful a pokemon could not do normally by itself: Z-Move. It’s an artefact who uses the bond of both to call upon power.

In a way…very similar to the gauntlets of Scimitars.

It’s a shot in the dark. But it's the best chance Oz has to try to escape Hecate grab.

Action: Use words to calmdown Hecate, and try to use the Key Stone/Mega Necklace and use her Bond with Hecate and use Aromatherapy as a way to calm her sister/daughter. Maybe a combination of Oz words + Aromatherapy could help calm Hecate emotions (thanks for the amazing idea @PhantomUnderYourDesk !) Let’s try to use that method you mentioned Windos. If there is a time to test the theory is NOW. Between Oz Pokemon, Hecate is problably the one with deepest connection with Oz, alongside Glinda.
