Help Spreading Pokerus

So I got a couple of Pokemon with Pokerus (a Devimp and a Jerbolta) off of Wonder Trade and since I'm training up some competitive Pokemon I decided to speed up the process and use them to spread Pokerus to my team.

I know in generation 3 Pokerus spread just by having the afflicted in your party, and starting in gen 4 or 5 it changed to having it in your party and spreading it after a battle.

I'm assuming the latter is the case for Pokemon Uranium, but I used the Jerbolta to spread it to my competitive Flager and a random Volchik for backup, but after several battles Flager isn't spreading it to the rest of my team. Am I just getting bad luck or is that not actually how spreading Pokerus works?
