Oh dear, that pun is almost too rich for my blood, but fortunately I'm hearty enough to handle any form of joking arteryistry !

Oh the irony of that situation, it's amusing. (That's a bad one, apologies) I'd be happy to receive your blood though as I tend to suffer too little of that in my blood. :C

Seriously though, how did you make it to have too MUCH iron in your blood? I never heard of that even being possible unless one takes iron supplements without a doctor recommending it, and my initiate thought is that having too much iron is better than too little, as it means more oxigen can be transported through the body.

Too much iron can damage your liver over time. It's probably 10% diet and 90% genetics - my dad also has excess iron levels.

Genetics, lolz! It's interesting how the gene pool determines practically everything, in a good and bad way. Liver damage on the long run vs increased fatigue with a tendency to shortness of breath is a hard decision though, neither are really pleasant. :C

*cringes and laughs at the puns simultaneously*

Seeing as it's a relevant topic, my dad actually had some problems with having too much iron in his blood.  He ended up eating foods with less iron in it, stopped cooking with an iron skillet...stuff like that, all to reduce the iron in his bloodstream.  He was experiencing some aches and pains for awhile until he started actively taking steps to reduce his iron intake.

And he thinks it's partially connected to having very slight Irish descent, actually.  One of my sisters might be having similar problems with iron in her blood.  For all I know, it could be a problem for me as well in the future.

It doesn't sound like it would be fun.

Funnily enough, having too much iron in your body is more of a problem for females of Irish descent (or to be more specific, having too much iron causes more problems, not that it's more common for them to have more iron).  Not as much of a problem for males according to studies, but it could still be.

I'm of Irish descent but my dad isn't. Weird!

Huh.  Honestly, I didn't expect that.  Well, I kinda did, but eh.

Funnily enough, they won't take my dad's blood either.  However...it's for a completely different reason.  He and my mom lived in Germany for awhile, and it was during a time period where some disease of some kind was spreading around.  So even though it's been years since they've been in Europe, they won't take their blood due to risk of contamination.  :/
