There was a glitch sometime ago, the one you could see if the pokemon that would hatch from it was going to be shiny just by looking the egg on the PC. Can we still do this? Sorry if this has been asked but I stopped playing for a while.

It was patched long long ago, That glitch was on ver 1.0.1Unl if i recall it right. So now you'll have to hatch the eggs before knowing if it's shiny or not

I sure hope this thread opens up old wounds, I'd love to see a good drama after it's been quiet for so long...

Oh, what a glorious day that was! The day when Andro announced the removal of the shiny star... He fixed like a hundred bugs but the people were raging about the loss of that single red star... =)))))

Ahh, the little red star.  In fact, there was one person on the Breeder's Discord who held off on updating until just a couple weeks ago for the sole purpose of being able to see that star on the eggs.  Personally, if you breed enough (especially if you have the shiny charm and are using the Masuda method) you'll probably be seeing your fair share of shinies anyway; however, since said person was also specifically aiming for a shiny dex, I can see where having the shiny indicator on the eggs would come in handy.

Now if only we could have it back and a 6IV indicator, then our days of hatching hundreds of unwanted eggs would be over.

I know it helped me a lot. I hatched hundreds of Maskings to get that shiny Dramsama! But when I found out about the red star it took me less than a day   it was really helpful but I don't mind hatching, it has a bit of excitement too

If you are willing to do your research and sniff out a copy of the game that is unpatched, and plan ahead of all the really nasty bugs, you can still exploit the bug yourself. I just consider it far too much work, personally, for such a relatively small benefit. Perhaps Andro and Reeves can implement an Item that does the same thing? I mean, only if you go for 100% completion, but if you are actively breeding for shinies, then you might as well go all the way and catch them all.
