RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - Iron - 03-25-2018 Creshire Museum Part 5 Preshistoric Pokemon This is where Professor Laurelin works. Her actual lab is right there inside the museum, behind a thick glass window, and patrons can watch her work. Right now she is chiseling a fossil out of some reddish-orange stone - probably a Helix fossil. She's surrounded by minions in labcoats and giant machines connected by tubes. Liquids bubble inside. A machine much like a Healing Machine is also involved. The strangest machine looks like a big spinning tuning fork on the end of a robot arm. Below it is a big vat. The room looks very dusty. You can't make out any of Laurelin's features for the dust, except that she has an awful lot of hair (currently grayish brown) with lots of baubles woven into it. A plaque describes the expensive fossil revivification process in technobabble. The process was simultaneously discovered by Devon Corporation, Cinnabar Laboratory, Ambrette Town, and Telperion University all at the same time. Nathan might be relieved to see no mention of Almanac here - the discovery predates them. He's sure they'd be interested, though. Fossils sometimes regenerate into the evolved forms, indicating a very close (but not identical) DNA link between the two forms. Older fossils are less likely to become the second form, and may refuse to evolve altogether! Every known fossil has been found in Creshire at least once.
There's also information on some existing species, which were bigger and more powerful in prehistoric times. Their moves rivaled an HM. Charizard's flame could drastically alter the landscape by melting boulders. Larvitar ate entire mountains, creating the clefts in the Great Divide. Onix could be as much as 60' long, twice his current size (always pretty rare in Creshire though). Occasionally someone finds a Delta Pokemon with the Rock Type who may be mutated from a fossil. There's a living Delta Sunkern in the museum, with stony leaves embedded with green quartz. It's very slow moving and more serene than a normal Sunkern. Captain Bridge Captain Bridge was a minor noble who insisted on starting as a lowly private and working his way up. He owned a Doublade, with which he trained constantly - there's a wax mannequin of them together here. The Doublade and half his men, including his own brother, were slain in a battle against loyalists in the mid 1400's. That was in and around Mt. Sentry. The loyalists had a strategy of stirring up the local Pokemon and sneaking away, including the ghosts of the Skull Ruins - who were freshly angered/created and had a certain amount of sympathy with the Crown loyalists. Bridge was a genius-level tactician. He was great at deploying Pokemon for combat and for supplies. After him, few ever used non-Pokemon weaponry again. Pokemon were just superior - their lethal moves could be stronger, they were intelligent, and they could be trained in many versatile ways. Skilled at cartography, alchemy, wilderness survival, medicine: a real jack-of-all-trades. He was among the first to carry exactly six Pokemon and to require each soldier to specialize in four moves, granting homage to the Six and the Four. Sort of a contrast to the loyalists. Captain Bridge died of starvation, not in battle as he'd always hoped. He and his remaining men were lost in Mt. Sentry, fleeing from an army of ghost Pokemon. A simple Rock Smash HM would have saved him. Creshire International This just lists Creshire's relations with other regions, including trade and politics. Creshire mostly exports Pokemon and Meteoric Superconductor (MS). There's a little bit here about which Pokemon came to Creshire, and which left for other regions after originating in Creshire. Originating in Creshire: Staryu, Voltorb, most Legendaries, pseudo-legendaries, big herbivorous Pokemon, lots of the friendliest Pokemon, many of the Mega stones, a few Tandor species. Ralts is on this list! Coming to Creshire very very long ago: predatory mammal species, Ekans and Arbok, some of the common birds, the fairly-rare-but-not-ultra-rare species. Cottonee is on this list! Not nationalised in Creshire: Alolan species. Pokedex This exhibit was built by Mallorn. His picture and his business logo are all over it. It describes how a Pokedex is made from Meteoric Superconductor, both innards and outer coating, allowing amazing sensory technology and integrated real-time data lookup. The insides of a Pokedex consist of two main parts: an output array for the screen, speaker, and stuff like that; and a solid state mass of MS, so dense it looks like someone just poured a bunch of liquid metal into a casing. That's the entire computer. The exhibit claims it's a hundred times more advanced than a cell phone, and the science shown here indicates at least 10x as advanced as a cell phone. Mallorn may have exaggerated a bit, though. RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 03-25-2018 (03-25-2018, 12:09 PM)Iron Wrote: Yes, they have a nice homemade breakfast. It's in the dining room where you were last night, but the mood is different. Lots of sleepy couples, a little more self-service (you have to go get your own syrup and such), and it's not dimly lit any more. And no Luvdisc. I don't know what Ventus does, but Shiva doesn't leave the B&B after she hasn't enjoyed a rich breakfast consisting of trying actually everything they have to offer, topped by the usual black coffee. Self-service she doesn't mind at all, and Azumarill with her Huge Power helps her carrying the fishtank containing her Luvdisc as a company. She'll return the tank when returning the roomkeys, thanking for the stay and service. (03-25-2018, 12:20 PM)Iron Wrote: Vulpix is like a puppy meeting a new person. She doesn't seem too picky about switching masters, but she wants lots and lots of attention. She also eats a lot! It was pure delight that Shiva felt and expressed as the white fox didn't seem to be shy at all, but was somewhat expectantly looking at her with her icy-blue eyes after sniffing on the offered hand, making unexpectant eye-contact with Vulpix as she looked up from reading! In fact, Shiva couldn't help but to fondly pet the white fluff decorating Vulpix's forehead upon that. It felt cold, but that wasn't solely what gave Shiva a chill running down the spine. No, it was also the sensation that this felt so excitingly different from all Vulpix she knows! "Huh, wait...you want more food? Here you are, eat as much as you like!" Reaching in her stuff, one more portion of spicy Pokemon food is offered. Humm, now it seems to pay out that she ordered a latte to enjoy while lounging here. Lightly, she nudged Spritzee on her shoulder to get her attention, then took the faelike bird into her hollow hand and softly placed it beside the cup containing her drink. Spritzee chriped in response, looking up awaitingly. "Oay, uhm, dear one... Your species is known for their skill of emitting a great variety of scents, and you are still a young hatchling, I guess I'm supposed to help you on learning new ones, am I? Well, one of the scents I'd like you to investigate is the one that the liquid in the cup beside you has." Shiva lightly taps the mentioned cup. "Can you feel it? Smell it, let it flood your senses, try to get to know every aspect of it... Oh, yes, it's safe for you to even try the liquid. It's not coffee that I'd prefer you to rather not try, it's latte. Sweet and mild." While Spritzee was busy to fulfill the given task (she'll order another latte at some point), Shiva turned to Vulpix again, drawing the fox's attention from the weird pink being doing weird stuff on the table to herself again. "Vulpix, dear one... from your old Master I know that you have a unique skill, haven't you! You are able to create a hailstorm simply because you like it! We're outside currently - would you want to show me what you can do, please? Oh, nevermind of hurting us, we're safe under this roof and there seem to be barely anyone on the street. Lilith, you can join as well, do you think you can create icy patterns in the midair with the summoned hailstones? ------------------ Mechanics: These are two Training Sessions for Vulpix, Gothitelle and Spritzee. RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - Dragonstrike - 03-25-2018 Art Huh...he didn't know Corporal Wake did art...cool. He's actually quite good at it... Hmmmm...there HAS to be something on/by Keni Morgusi here, right? The guy's too famous/legendary to not be mentioned here somewhere...that's what Nathan's mainly looking for. (And if Ventus is here, this is his chance to learn more about this artist as well, whether from Nathan or the museum) Whether he makes his own art is yet undecided. If Ralts, Furret, and/or Forthright might find it fun to help, though, maybe he will...clay would probably be what he'd end up working. Telperion Nathan doesn't spend much time here. He knows the entrance requirements, as he's looked at them before... ...what he doesn't know is if he'd actually want to apply eventually. It's not a question he's looking to answer today, though. Natural Science The history stuff is what interests Nathan the most. Hmmm...definitely one way to look at how the world was formed... Prehistoric Huh. He didn't actually expect to see the professor here. Interesting to see her at work on that fossil restoration... When Nathan gets to the list of fossil pokemon... ...Snopach and Dermafrost? Slothohm and Theriamp? Jungore and Majungold? He's not familiar with any of those names...how curious...maybe the exhibit has more information on those three fossils? Delta Sunkern because of fossil-like origins? Cool. Wonder if it still evolves with a Sun Stone? He also didn't know Sarimanok collected fossils as a hobby. No surprise he liked Tyrunt a lot too. He sure did love his dragon types and dragon-like pokemon... Cpt. Bridge Oh, the irony...could have been saved by the very thing that the League had destroyed by trying to replicate it...a sad tale, really. The man's life was filled with both tragedy and heroic deeds aplenty. Nathan can't help but wonder if his Doublade was killed simply because it was a Doublade... International Nathan keeps his thoughts on most of this to himself. He would love to see more interregional interactions between Creshire and the rest of the world, though...something like the PWT, or maybe some Contests...some big international event for Creshire to get involved in, like the Champions' Tournament...he's found videos of past CPs in the past, and the intensity of those battles...it's always absolutely captivating...the world's best, all going head to head to see who's strongest among them every few years...maybe Creshire could host it one day...or maybe a Battle Frontier or something...so many possibilities... Pokedex Knowing Mallorn, there's almost definitely exaggeration. He will give Mallorn some credit, though...for what the Pokedex is, it's got a REALLY good price. (I believe that just leaves Medicine and the League for what has yet to be covered) RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - Spiritmon - 03-25-2018 Heart begin to feel dumb. He was wrong somehow about that mean somehow. If that wasn't what that pokemon is trying to say, then what is? He look again to Hypno with a insquisitive way, hearing the pokemon laughting to him somehow. "Very funny Hypno. Hahaha. Now do you sir mind to help me to find what you seek?" Then Heart try to find a way to help to understand what that Hypno say. Then a idea pop in his head. "I know!" Then Heart search a bit in his bag and find paper and a pencil and give these items to Hypno hands. "Just make a drawing from what you seeking or write a information or description of what you seeking. I know Pokemons dont speak human language (in general) but you might be smart enough to make a drawing." RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - PhantomUnderYourDesk - 03-25-2018 Oh, Shiva doesn't visit all wings. Too busy, too tired, she'd rather spend more time in the wings that actually interest her. One of these was the Art Wing, of course! Huh, at first she was a tad bit suprised that there are actual sculptures than what she may have expected first - what she expected were, well, paintings. Humm... Well, doesn't matter, from the look of it this was the biggest and somewhat most important wing, and now that they were here, she'll take a good look at things. That eerie metal artworks from the First Technical Society somewhat intrigued here, MUCH, it looked very different from anything she'd ever saw in books, in real, or on the screen. The historian aspect of it and where it originates from aren't what interest her most about these, it rather was how new, weird and creative they looked - she had no idea what they were depicting, but she imagined the weirdest things and felt pretty sure that different people would interpret different things into these two artworks. To her, they looked like nightmarish creatures, and she shivered and chuckled at the same time over this sensation. Tanuki's drawing was something Shiva found incredibly cute and dear! Awww. This strangely squat and humanoid Pokemon on the blurred painting caught her attention as well, since she's always interested in myths and strange new Pokemon. A little more careful and thinking twice before taking action though she has become after that run-in with Delta Houndours and their creepy dreamland. Ugh... ------------------------------------------------------------- Next: Becoming an Artist! It itches Shiva to actually do something creative, so she'll likely wave goodbye to the others here. Hmm, but to her slight disappointment the paints she uses for her plushie-crafting had more quality, and even these weren't the most expensive ones. But let's see, maybe through the internet access of the PC here she could find some inspiration. .....That was when she spotted it. If she wasn't horribly mistaken, they had a real 3D printer here!!! Oh glorious day, Shiva knew exactly what she'd be happy to create. In an instant, Lilith were summoned in the familiar white light, and while she was still investigating the area, her owner had already drawn her star-patterned journal and was eagerly paging through it. Eventually, she found what she was looking for: The stellar chart of Chreshire's contellations, made by her when the group was at the Tusk of the Great Divide, as well as a stellar chart depicting the nightsky from her home in Castelia City. (Old drawing made around the time where it became clear that Shiva will obtain Gothitelle, but it's based on a real picture of the starry nightsky) She gently nudged her noble Psychic Type, bringing her attention to the latter one. "Lilith...", she softly and eagerly told her, "I said that I'd show you the difference between this region's stars and the oen visible from my homeregion - an example of the latter you see here. On the other page," *turning a few pages*, "these are some constellations from this region, I made this chart while being uuuup in the mountains. Say, would you enjoy creating a real 3D model of one constellation with me? It doesn't take much, all we need are these pages in my journal, the PC here and the printer, we have everything here. Please choose one, whether from this region or my homeregion doesn't matter, just take one you like. I personally like Swanna... But Ursaring Major here in Chreshire is my favorite." Searching a little more, Shiva eventually found the instructions of how to make any drawing into a 3D model, as an example they made a pencil holder. A model of a constellation will be an awesome decoration for her room, hope Lilith will enjoy this experience of creating something with Shiva as well! (Will this actually take an Encounter, @Iron?) ------------------------------------------------------------- Next: Telperion University and everything that had to do with it. Huh, if that Hedge Maze is free to visit for non-students, Shiva will enjoy playing hide-and-seek with her Pokemon (and Ventus) there. Once she finished the business concerning Pancham, that is. Her family is wealthy and it's in their interest that Shiva will overtake and further lead her father' Daycare as a Professional Breeder, so the increased costs to study here aren't much of a problem. She couldn't help but to wonder what she'd have to do to gain a scholarship though when Pokemon Breeding and Handling will be her major - maybe creating a whole new type of Destiny Knot? Or come up with a new theory about how Pokemon actually breed? What also interests her are basic information about these self-care courses that were mentioned somewhere much earlier, as she'll surely visit "Trainer Confidence and Centering" when the group resides in Botanville. ------------------------------------------------------------- Next and probably last wing for her: Creshire's plantlife and Natural Science. Oh, Shiva would have expected that actual plants underline the exhibit, but seems like this wasn't so. (Or it's smiply not mentioned?) The historical information about how the land formed was, to her own great suprise, actually interesting, even if mostly so because it involved and old tale from the Mamo. She makes sure to remember the mentioned places where unique plants are found, making a few notes about it in her journal even. Feeling eager and anticipitated, Shiva had now another reason to shyly look forward to te Safari Zone and Garlicburg - collecting and special plants to make things out of and with them! She promises herself to develop her skills in the meantime, before the group will get there. (Means: Leveling up Nature Speciality) If any plants that are protected or particularly rare are exhibited or described here, Shiva will take a careful look at them to prevent her from accidently collecting or missing these later. ------------------------------------------------------------- There is one more wing Shiva would like to visit: It's the Almanac's wing. She does so because she has one particular question/is looking for information or an update out of curiosity: How's that Nucleon foster program going? Her discrete mention of the Scimitars causes the researcher to frown a bit, his expression growing serious now that those wretched cabal of wizards were back on the top of his mind. "Those twisted archmage's diabolical aims for Anthenum have been far from forgotten, nor has my desire to crush waned, but I thank you for the reminder. Rest assured Shiva, when I have acquired my portion of covering Mr. Finder's I'll inform you so that we may all begin our expedition into Mt. Sentry poste haste. We can NOT allow those wretch Scimitars to gain access to the library's coveted secrets at any cost, so I will do my part to ensure that does not come to pass...." Such a grim mood was instantly dispel by his mystical lass' question of how to handle their new relationship statuts, causing him to feel/subsequently quash a jolt of apprehension that flowed through him. "Umm.....I would much prefer we keep or union hush hush, at least for the time being. I'm still.....uncomfortable with the idea despite how much I....I love you, and the thought of being under intense scrutiny by Nathan and Heart for our affections.....that unnerves me greatly. If they discover our relationship on their own, so be it, but I rather not give them any hints for our own peace of mind. At least, not until we both have settled fully with our.....feelings with one another...." A brief moment of silence, before Ven spoke once more, in a quiet tone that was normally an indication that something was troubling him. "Speaking of our relationship....we need to talk about certain....things, my dear. Not right now, but tonight, after we've had a full day of respite to acclimate ourselves with our....love for one another. Alright?" Quote:Iron The sociologist orders a great big stack of chocolate chip pancakes and digs right in, as seldom did he have a chance to dine of some high quality breakfast pasteries! If it was possible, he'd also save some leftovers to share with Azrael and Raphael later, as he knew his children loved sweets, and what better way to pamper them then by stuffing their faces? His dark little angel would certainly agree with that notion, given how ravenous she was! Gothitelle and her white Vulpix are still out, the near surrounding is probably a bit colder due to training her fox's Ability, but Spritzee might - depending what the book tells needs to be done for 'learning' a new scent - either be visible as well or semi-hidden linger on her shoulder, only the fae's sweet and romantic scent will hint on her. Quote:Dragonstrike- Visit the museum again. Let's go look at...Prehistoric Pokemon, Captain Bridge, Creshire International, and Pokedex. Slightly shorter trip today. If Shiva (or anyone else in the party, for that matter. Remember, the museum doesn't take an encounter to visit!) is here at the same time, Nathan might end up visiting different/more exhibits instead, though. After a particularly interesting instructional period with Valder's more humanoid/Dexteridous Pokémon ('How in Reshirim's name could they have misinterpreted simple posturing in that manner? My my......), Ven made his way towards the Museum, arriving a little later than Shiva and Nathan. He'd quickly use his empathetic senses to track them down and join them on their tour through the museum, slightly observing all the exhibition and taking mental notes on just about everything on display (That will come in another post, maybe) . One thing was certainly on his mind after his visit: Cheshire was very much as unique and multifold as he imagined after first hearing/doing research on the region! From its culture to its Pokémon, this nation was certainly not found wanting by him! If Lilith was still out by his mi amore's side, he'd offer them a polite and friendly bow towards them, as befitting of her status as a Gothitelle and Shiva's friend. If Alola Vulpix was out, he actually blink a few times in disbelief at seeing an Alolan Species in Cheshire of all places, before curiously asking her: "If my eyes do not deceive me, that's an Alolan Vulpix you possess! I thought it was unheard of to see the regional variety outside the frosty peaks of its home region, but it appears I've been misinformed. Anyhow, tell me dear, how did you manage to acquire them here of all places? Given the rarity of the snowy sub-species, I imagine there must be quite a story behind you obtaining!" RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - Iron - 03-25-2018 Ventus and Shiva gain a Will point. I love the image of Azumarill carrying around a fish tank one handed. The Relic Cafe is actually indoors, inside the museum, but they can give you a to-go cup. I have one training roll for Gothitelle. A Perform check, I think. (6)(3)(4)(6)(2)(1)(6)(1) = 4 bonus XP +2, just for that session alone. Then all your Pokemon get +1 for each session, and Spritzee also gets a bonus XP. Vulpix looks really pleased at being asked to summon hail. RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - Iron - 03-25-2018 Nathan asks a docent about Morgusi art. "Oh, sadly, no. Morgusi is very shy. We very rarely get him to let us put up any of his art, and we don't want to hurt his feelings. He's the nicest fellow. Did you know he lives in Cress City? If you want some art, sometimes they have a little at the Trading Card shack." Furret would probably be interested in playing with clay, since she's interested in the Clay Pits. Ralts will do any activity. There are pictures of the Tandorian fossils, but no Pokedex-entry-level details. He can guess their typing by the pictures. I'll cover the remaining exhibits another day. I know Pokemons dont speak human language (in general) but you might be smart enough to make a drawing." Insight: (6)(2)(1) Hypno thinks for a long time. Finally, he draws the moon. It's a terrible drawing. RE: [Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole - Iron - 03-25-2018 Something simple like a 2D pattern can be done without any Computer skill. Craft check: (6)(3)(4)(4)(2)(2)(5)(6)(6)(5) Shiva is an incredible craftswoman. The constellation pattern comes out so good that Gothitelle gains +1 Happiness! She gives the constellations a knowing look. The self-improvement courses can be part of any major or taken a la carte. There are a few examples of some of the plants of Creshire, just a tiny little greenhouse. More of them are prepared specimens or drawings. That definitely includes some she can keep an eye out for in the Safari Zone. The Almanac station doesn't mention Nucleon at all. |
