[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
(03-25-2018, 07:19 AM)Lord Windos Wrote: The good morning smooch his blessed girlfriend shouldn't have really startled him, as he meekly looked away with tiny smile on his face at the gesture, but never the less it did. Her questions, however, prompted him to set aside his feelings of unease and contemplate on how to answer that highly loaded question, before he simply decided to that the best approach was simply being straightforward. "I'm feeling remarkably fine, actually. Not certain exactly how that was the case, considering the potent drinks I ibibed on, but far be it from me to complain about a lack of a hangover. As for my plans for today and the future, I'll be meeting with Valder later on to discuss an endevour he's currently assisting me in, among other things. Assuming all goes well and we experience no other interruption, I should be fully prepared to explore Mt. Sentry in a couple of days from now at least, or a week at most if things become....difficult. Hopefully that will not be the case, as I've come to enjoy these peaceful day......especially since I have you to share their splendor with me."

True story, Shiva doesn't pick up any of Ventus' inner conflict, pondering and decision to work on embracing his feelings for her, but if she would, she'd rejoice and cheer on this decison with the greatest delight. She herself will likely be somewhat timid and insecure about exchanging affections while others are around - but not 'denying' - and a little more open when they're alone and she's feeling well. She loves this oddball of a sociologist, yes, but she has to get used to an actual relationship with him at first and learn how to behave, despite feeling mature to be in one! She's also hoping that the aspects of friendship they're maintaining, like being there for one another and having interesting conversations, won't just end now and be replaced with, well, love. Besides, what will the others of the group think when they find out actually, how would they....react...?

All of that were thoughts that came to Shiva while she was giving her hair one stroke with a brush after the other, bringing at least a bit order into it.

The sensation and opening that her newly found love had no hangover at all came just as much as a suprise for her like for him and she couldn't help but to muster him awaitingly as if she was silently trying to see whether he was telling the truth. Eventually, after maybe half a minute of doing so, a thankful smile formed on her expression. The stars must have had mercy with him, how lucky!~ "Is that so, Ven? That's.... well, great to hear then! Have a splendid day with Valder and 'other things' then. We'll likely, uhm....see one another again later, will we?" She pauses here to give him a shy expectant glance, before it faded as she spoke up once more in a dear and a little flattered manner.

"Hehe... Sure, I... I mean, I too enjoy peaceful days, and sharing quality time with you. But, please don't forget that you-know-who are looking for the Library as well, okay? We shouldn't...delay things too much, I do hope we can search for it ourselves in a few days, let me know when you made enough cash to contribute to the costs of hirering Mr. Finder, please."(That's for the sake of her getting to him to confirm the search and make a definite contract one Day before heading into Mount Sentry)

There was one more thing Shiva would like to have off her chest before they'll exit their room, she hesitates a little before speaking it out. "Ven, dear....l-love? One more thing, I feel the others deserve knowing that we are...well....... Oh, but it doesn't have to be right away! Maybe they'll cotton on themselves, I don't know, and it's nothing uncommon that we...found one another. So many young people set out on a journey through the region, in ALL regions, it doesn't suprise me that romantic bonds are sometimes forged during these journeys. What...do you think about that matter?"

By the time Nathan approaches her after she spotted him lingering around for probably wanting to visit the Museum + waved to him as a greeting, Shiva has likely already finished her businesses with her Pokemon and emptied another latte. Gothitelle and her white Vulpix are still out, the near surrounding is probably a bit colder due to training her fox's Ability, but Spritzee might - depending what the book tells needs to be done for 'learning' a new scent - either be visible as well or semi-hidden linger on her shoulder, only the fae's sweet and romantic scent will hint on her.

"Oh... Well, Nathan, hi! ..... S-sure I'll tag along on seeing the inside of the Museum! Let's see...." She draws a leaflet telling about the different wings of the Museum, as they'll probably are displayed here in the Cafe, "Art interests me -" Reminds her on visits of Burgh's exhibitions with her mother, curious to compare his style of painting with whoever's are exhibited in Cress City's Museum!~ - " as well as...let's see, the wings about Telperion University and Chreshire's plantlife and its science. So, please excuse me if we have to part ways at some point, alright?"

Hey, Iron, I just had thought: Romantic Hills is a Bed&Breakfast, so I assume some general beakfast is included in the prize for the room already? Or does it cost extra? Does it contain some indivdual and themed touch as well, or is it more like every breakfast one would get at a hotel or youth hostel?

Doesn't have to outplayed in detail unless Ventus wants to, but it feels a bit relveant to know to me.

Yes, they have a nice homemade breakfast. It's in the dining room where you were last night, but the mood is different. Lots of sleepy couples, a little more self-service (you have to go get your own syrup and such), and it's not dimly lit any more. And no Luvdisc.

I'll add the XP directly to Valder's character sheet. Visiting the Museum doesn't take Encounters.

@Nylon when you get back from your trip and see this, you have access to Teleport for a full day.

Vulpix is like a puppy meeting a new person. She doesn't seem too picky about switching masters, but she wants lots and lots of attention. She also eats a lot!

The book has two methods of obtaining a new scent for a Spritzee.

One involves a fey meditation with the Pokemon, taking her on a mental journey through a place with that scent, describing how it feels and how people will react to it, as well as the details of what produces it. For example, you might describe a pine forest, the sap rising in the trees, and how it reminds people of being alone in the wilderness.
You make a Move Tutoring roll for each scent, and up to three scents per week can be learned, one roll apiece. This takes no Encounters.

The other is to use up a Training Session. The Pokemon gets XP as normal, it costs an Encounter as normal, two others can join as normal. In this way you can learn a new scent every single day, and no roll is required. This usually involves direct exposure to the scent.

Here we are. You give me that message about Friday or something like that. Mind to show me if Friday mean something about this Cathedral?"

Hypno points to the roof, where you can clearly see nothing is different than usual. Then he points to the big Hoothoot clock.

Creshire Museum Part 4

Creshire Art
This is a substantial part of the museum, and most of the residents consider it the best or most important part. They have some permanent exhibits, some rotating exhibits, some works that the museum owns, and some that are on loan.

They're not shy about picking up art from any era and location.

There are prints of Mamo cave paintings, depicting people's early interactions with Pokemon. The same is true of their pottery. Apparently the Mamo used to have peat lodges where they hosted art, just like a modern day art gallery.
They also make these cool weapons.

You find an exhibit on the eerie metal artwork of the First Technical Society, which creatively ignores every rule of present-day art. Just looking at it makes you feel funny. Some of it uses optical illusions to portray impossible, Escherean arrangements of wire and tubing.

Lots of gilt and hieroglyphic art from Sarimanok's time. Detailed masks, urns painted head to toe, papyrus scrolls with colorful inks, woven tapestries.

They've got their hands on one of the natural sculptures from the Fireweed Forest, showing a pair of Illumise and Volbeat and some Foongus.

Stone carvings and clay tiles from the Great Divide.

A whole row of art done by Pokemon: abstract fingerpaintings from Phanpy, hyperrealistic-but-meaningless paintings by the elusive Smeargle, a Raffiti's urban painting from Corsage Port, a rather silly 'sculpture' of crumpled iron by a Machamp, and an awesome geometric steel sculpture by a Meowth with Cut, back in the old days.

Tanuki has a painting! It's a whimsical children's painting of a giant Zigzagoon holding a tiny Furret.

A blurred picture of a strangely squat and humanoid Pokemon near a desert oasis. It was painted in the Camas Desert. On careful examination you see some Deyo flowers in the painting.

A diorama of the Safari Zone, including Ampharos, Poochyena, Tranquill, Rhyhorn, Minccino, and Tauros.

A painting of the old Garlicburg castle as a ruins, overrun with crab Pokemon.

A little etching of a Dratini. You check the name...it's Corporal Wake, whom you met in Trillium Town. Apparently he was born in Cress City, but isn't nearly famous enough to make the list.

Lots of the paintings by modern Creshire artists are on canvases with odd shapes. Lots of triangles or circles. Some are the shape of what they portray, like a human shape or barn shape or mountain shape.

Become an Artist

They've got clay, a kiln, and poor-quality paints and canvas to use here. There are PCs so you can look up instructions or models. They also have a 3D printer that can create almost anything in plastic form, if you have the proper file.

Telperion Recruitment and Info
This is also a pretty small booth, akin to the one on Almanac. It lists all the majors at Teleperion, and its history as an outdoor college. There's an interview with the architect who designed the Hedge Maze, the cool open-air classrooms, and the semi-open rooms set into the hill. This university has existed in one form or another for 1500 years. Formerly, it was called Maku Pedagorium, until the name was changed in the time of the Kings.
Shiva qualifies to enroll there, though the price is higher for nonresidents. Scholarships are available if you do some kind of great work, a journeyman's piece in what you want to study. Someone going to art school there, for example, would need to make some kind of portfolio. A biologist needs to discover and describe a new species or organ or something.

Creshire Plants and Natural Science

The most diverse plantlife in Creshire can be found in the Safari Zone, where a combination of certain flora and Pokemon sheddings can create all sorts of great medicines and battle items.

The hardiest plants are in the mountains. There are extremophiles that can survive the heat of Mt. Molten or the chill of the Great Divide in wintertime. We don't even know if those plants are useful or not because it's so hard to get up there and survive.

The most unique plants are on Garlicburg, where they have a separate evolutionary history.

Much of Creshire's natural history is driven by the meteor strikes, somewhat outlined in another post. The Mamo say the Great Divide and the coasts were formed when a massive Whiscash slammed into a Surfing boatlike Pokemon, whose identity they don't know. Natural science says they're not too far off the mark - some kind of Legendary Pokemon did indeed clash with a massively oversized prehistoric Pokemon affiliated with earth, water, and even plant life. Their clash occurred right at a tectonic plate, setting off volcanic activity which formed the initial land. Pokemon like Regigigas are rumored to have positioned all the continents over time. This kind of "continental drift" caused wrinkles in the land - the Great Divide.

Creshire has changed a lot over time. The Camas Desert used to be a cove. The southern plains used to be a desert. Lake Chicory used to be a big pit full of strange plant life and unusual Pokemon.

Hypno is shaking his head as Heart clambers all over the roof. He even laughs, which is a really unsettling sound. This isn't what he was trying to communicate.

No one has explored the clock yet, so I'll give you a brief description. Inside are stairs with glass walls. You can climb up to the top and peek out right through the clockface itself! Along the way, you see a mess of rising and falling counterweights, accordion structures, gears, pulleys, and whirring steel cables. Sometimes Klink get in there somehow.

The pointy roof often has Hoothoot and the occasional Noctowl. There's no way to get up there though.
