[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
All lot of post today, and hardly any from me. I wish I could post more, but the way I set up my last post more or less excludes me from Vincent's and Nathan's conversation until Shiva responds. A whole lot of info that Ventus has to get after the fact...if he isn't totally driven up the wall by the flowers...
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

@Iron
What all can the pokedexes do seeing that Nathan and Vincent where able to text each other? And can Larry modify his pokedex and other peoples dexes?

You are a genius with computers so you can do a lot with a Pokedex, such as develop apps. Takes a long time, though. As you level up your Computer Specialty you will get better. If you have the right equipment you could make hardware modifications too.

Pokedexes can text, call, run apps, has a compass, camera, map, can cancel evolution, knows the location of common Creshire (it's not "Cheshire") pokemon, and knows everything in the rules document's Pokedex.

It also has a few League related functions and a copy of your trainer card and a display of Bill's PC (though it cannot withdraw a Pokemon).

Since Oshawott only knows Tackle I think we can assume that is what he'll use. Larry, we need to go through later and see if Oshawott has enough XP for Water Gun, since I think you ought to be close. Could even learn it mid battle if you have enough XP already!

just for reference, 7 exp for bubbles the oshawott to learn water gun.

Larry is in an awkward position now seeing that oshawott only has tackle and he cant use poison type moves, (thanks a lot league people) but at least Larry is happy that he is actually having a battle with his crush.

@Dies_Irae do you know if a move can still roll chance dice if it hits but does not deal damage?

I'd also double check if pain penalizations apply to damage and effect rolls. That seems a little silly to me, tbh.

I'd recommend checking out the 'hold back' command, Larry.  This goes for everyone else too.

In short, you can order your pokemon to use a move, but not at full strength.  It can halve damage or prevent dealing lethal damage.  I imagine it can also be used to avoid inflicting effects.  Of course, we'll need Iron's approval for that since it's not listed in the book.

Pain penalization doesn't apply to damage, only the action rolls.

Larry's damage is being hindered by Vitality of his opponent and rock's resistance to normal type, which applies a flat -1 on damage.

Don't see why not. Nothing explicitly prohibits that, since the specific trigger is having the move hit.
