[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
As Staryu is assisting Larry and Bubbles, Nathan takes a moment to scan the area and see what's going on around the rest of the beach. Vincent was helping that poor juggler to his feet...Shiva was on top of the RV, trying to both play with the hoppip and direct her new rodents in a battle against a shellder...

And Ventus...wait, was that him at a lemonade stand? With a female swimmer? Was he philandering? Of all the times for him to...wait, they were getting up to go somewhere else...is that a shellder? Something seems off about it though...

Turning aroud to check on Larry and their pokemon again, Nathan sees Swiftfire is growing impatient. And Ralts...is just staring at him quizzically. Probably still curious about that pearl...he'd examine it more closely later.

Ventus registered Sochi's number in the Pokedex!

Still planning to wait to see if Vincent submits a bid on the Shellder*, but Sochi is interested in that.

A lone synapse, stubbornly staying at it's post where all others have long since fled in terror, screams unanswered instructions that wash through the sea of adrenaline like static, no recipients able or willing to respond.

Moran... It seemed to whisper.

Holy Crap! Moran!

As the ringing in his ears subsides, he rolls off the food dish as a little head pokes out. The Paras goggles at it's surroundings, and then promptly disappears beneath the dish again.
Lying on his back, he stares up at the sky. An blurry orange outline fills his vision and he feels something damp against his cheek.

There is a faint hint of ash and he gags. "I did tell you you have breath like an ashtray, right."

He feels another weight plonk down against his chest and notes the chirrup. "No, Sieg. I'm not dead yet. Now get off. You're heavy."

Slowly, groping for his cane, he pushes himself to a sitting position.

"SON OF A MOTHERLESS GOAT." The officer pushes himself back to his feet, smoothing the folds of his uniform, before letting loose a stream of invective.

Kid friendly, Sir.

"THEY CAN'T HEAR ME. REGARDLESS. WE'VE GOT A MAN DOWN. USE YOUR ASSETS AND THE CIVVIES CLEAR! LOCK DOWN THE AREA NOW!"

Shaking his head to clear the fog, he wipes a handful of mud from his face as Larry runs over.

"Thanks, Larry, but the juggler takes priority. Get him to the RV. Tell them he was hurt in a blast. Call Ginger Town's emergency services if necessary. I need to secure that rogue Voltorb before anyone else gets hurt."

"WHAT THE HELL IS A VOLTORB DOING IN A LAKE AREA" The officer asks grimly.

I'd ask the same thing about Nathan's Staryu, that Mankey and his Ralts. Either way, better wrap this fellow up before someone else gets hurt. The hows-and-whys can come later.

Grimly, he pushes himself back to his feet, grimacing inwardly at the pain in his leg. He'd have to get that looked at in a bit. Yeah. Definitely, in a bit.

Turning to his Pokemon, he addresses them in a tone that leaves no room for discussion. "Find that Voltorb now. We need to shut down the damn thing down before it's ready for another blast."

Shellder Round 3

Insight: (6) - Plusle will be acting normally.

Quick Attack
Acc: (4)(1)
Dmg: 5 dice -3 vitality = 2 dice (4)(1) Shellder takes 1 damage, leaving him at half health.

Look how fast that adorable little Pokemon is!

Swift
Acc: (1)(3) It's a good thing Plusle passed his Insight roll, and that this is Swift.

The stream of stars veers unerringly toward Shellder even though it does a backflip to dodge the first stream.

Dmg: 2 dice
(3)(2) nothing

Tackle
Acc: 3 dice now, with pain
(3)(2)(5) hit

Shellder is pursuing Plusle now, for Minun is just too fast for him to comfortably comprehend.

Dmg: with Charm, just 1 dice.
(4) Plusle takes 1 damage. So he's now -1 pained and still confused.

Sieg is an excellent scout. No Voltorb found, but the trail of sparks leads far south, across the river, possibly as far as the Divide. The Pokemon really blasted off with that attack.

However, Growlithe sniffed out the trail of Voltorb before it met the juggler and got mistaken for a Pokeball. He found two or three of the Deyo flowers (sorry Ventus) and another small meteor crater, this one fresher than the first (though still a few hundred years old). This, his nose says, is where Voltorb was nesting.

According to the Pokedex, Mankey and Primeape are common enough on Mt. Molten, but they are not supposed to venture down into town. Pokedex agrees that Staryu and Ralts were out of place, and maybe Voltorb.

"Sheesh. This entire route's spotted with these things." Vincent kneel down and digs out the Deyo plants he found, adding them to the existing one in his sample bag. As he unslings the bag, he swears noting the rips and scorch marks to his jacket, contributions courtesy of the Voltorb.

Starting to think these are connected to Pokemon turning up in weird locations.

"WELL DONE CAPTAIN OBVIOUS."

Carefully, he stashes the growing sealed bag of plant matter back in his backpack, with the full intent to drop by the police post in Ginger to make an inquiry. After a while, Sieg flutters down dejectedly, having lost the trail of the self-propelled bomb ball.

There is a brief flash of concern as he remembers something Oh crap. The egg!

Hurriedly, he opens the main compartment to check on the incubation capsule.

Ventus and Sochi decide to wander up the river a bit farther, Sochi keeping an eye out for pearls or special sand. As she walks the beach, she brings out an Itemfinder to help find lost objects or valuable minerals! All she finds is a few Pokedollar coins, which she hides away in what little she has on.

"You know, Ventus, at first I only approached you because of that beautiful pearl - which I might still try to buy off the Captain later - but I'm kind of having fun, you know?"

Ventus holds up a hand to stop her, because she almost walked right into the biggest Shellder he's ever heard of. It's big enough to swallow a child, lying in wait in the sand, mostly obscured. It has hidden itself since they saw it first. A darkness emanates from its hole, and as they stare in amazement a pink tongue emerges to lick calcareous lips.

"Can you imagine the size of a pearl made by that thing?" whispers Soshi. A Pokeball appears in her hand (where was it before?).

Ventus Initiative: (3) +4 = 7 first
Sochi: (1) +5 = 6 second
Shellder*: (2) +3 = 5 third

The egg itself is entirely unharmed. The incubator's vents need cleaning from ash, and there are a few cosmetic dents in the metal. The plexiglass part, and the structure of the casing, is fine.

"Jeez. Serious maintenance, later." He sighs, looking at the incubator.

He glances down at the Pokedex and taps out a message, sending it to the group. It's short and terse.

Had a bad run in with a Voltorb. Attempting retrieval. Currently pursuing due south towards the river. Will stay in contact.

He considers for a moment, then taps out a second private message to Nathan along with a set of coordinates. Meteorite crater at coordinates. Found signs of Deyo flowers. Have collected and am moving on. Implications unclear.

He pushes himself back to his feet and glances south towards the mountain.

"NOT THE BRIGHTEST THING YOU'RE DOING, SON."

I know. Serve and Protect.

"Sieg. You're ranging ahead. Go up and scout for the Voltorb. Winston, Moran. See if you can pick up the trail again. Not expecting a miracle, but lets get to it."

With a flick of his wrist, a Pokeball appears in his hand, and soon hits the ground with a flash, summoning Apsis. She looks around her surroundings, flicking her tounge idly, until her vision zeros in on the giant Shellder in front of her. Letting out a startled hiss, she immedianlty slithers back from it, looking reproachfully at the oversized clam. They are suppose to be small and tasty meals, not a oversized opponent!

Picking up Apsis' hostility towards the Shellder, Ventus calmly says to her, "Apsis, I imagine you are displeased with facing such large prey, so I need you to focus that anger on taking it down. Use Glare on it to hobble it, just like the time you did on that Oshawatt. Follow my lead, and I'll take you Pidgy hunting later." While he was commanding his Ekans, he palmed Michael's ball in his hands. Just in case the situation got dire, he might need to switch Apsis out immedianlty.

Turning towards Sochi, he motion for her to listen. "If you have any Pokémon that can reduce this giant shell fish's states, I would recommend that you use them. Otherwise send out your heaviest hitter; this Shelldar looks like it can take quite some punishment!"

Orders:

Have Apsis use Glare on the Shellder, preventing it from moving around too much

Glare

Accuracy Pool: Pool 3

DEX (1) + Fight (20) [I used the XP I had and upgrade to 2 point in Fight]

Effect: Paralyze Foe
