[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

River Rat Round 1

This room is shaped like a big wheel with four quarters making up the battlefield: two sand and two water, at diagonal opposites. Dividing each quadrant from the others is a thin (5') strip of ice. Around the outer edge is a walking space for the trainers to prowl.

"Dewgong, I think Signal Beam might be your only attack to get through. Like we practiced, slip from the water across the ice into the other water."

Dewgong does so, and a ray of shimmering light comes flying from Dewgong's open mouth. It looks like a faint Aurora Beam at first, but then you realize that a chittering pulse of echolocation is contained within the beam.

Signal Beam
Accuracy: 2 Dex + 1 Fight + 1 Canalize = 4 dice
(6)(1)(3)(4) The Signal Beam connects!
Dmg: 2 Str + 3 power -2 vitality = 3 dice
(3)(5)(1) Theo takes 1 damage
Chance to confuse: (2) Nope

Leer
You don't add Brawl to damage, but since your Brawl is still 0 your numbers are correct there.
Acc: (3)(1)(5)
Dewgong's defense drops!

River Rat Round 2

"Dewgong, cancel out that Leer with a Growl."

Growl
(5)(2)(6)
Pawniard now deals 1 less damage dice

Big mistake (that the GM didn't notice until everything else was typed up.) Pawniard's Defiant ability is activated. +2 Strength to Theo.

Faint Attack
Accuracy: (5)(2)(6)
Dmg: 6 dice, +2 Defiant, -1/+1 from buffs, -2 vitality = 6 dice. Valder's Pokemon know how to hit hard!!
(5)(4)(5)(5)(6)(1) Daaang. Dewgong takes 5 damage. It still has 2 health left, but since that's more than half its life, it will operate at a -2 pain penalty!

River Rat Round 3

"Hmmm... This type is so great at defense! Hey, I have it - keep him off balance with a Headbutt. If you can knock him into the water, that would be great!"

Headbutt
Acc: 2 dex +1 Fight + 3 brawl -2 pain = 4 dice
(4)(4)(2)(5)
Dmg: 3 dice, -1 dmg typing
(3)(3)(6) 0 damage.
Flinch chance: (4)(2)(3) Dewgong doesn't quite manage to knock Pawniard into the water, but it's a close thing. He activates Metal Claw to carve a toehold in the ice.

Then he attacks with it!

Metal Claw
Acc: (1)(1)(2) Too bad! But it was worth not falling in the water, to use the less accurate attack.

River Rat Round 4

"Ok, try Signal Beam, maybe we can harm it enough to hinder it! Then it will be easier to sink!"

Signal Beam
Acc: (3)(5)
Dmg: (4)(6)(3) Theo takes 2 damage. He's now at -2 pain.
Confuse: (3)

One solid hit will do it, so Faint Attack is the right move! Pokemon and Trainer agree!

Faint Attack
3 dice, -2 pain = 1 dice, but it never misses
(1) Not even on a 1.
Dmg: a zillion
(3)(1)(4)(3)(6)(4) Dewgong faints.

"What a brawler! Oh, I'd love to have me a Pawniard. I mean, I couldn't use it in this gym, but that's really cool! Want to trade it for my Dewgong? Or Spheal? Spheal is a pretty rare Pokemon in Creshire. Or Sneasel, how about that? Then you'd still have a Dark type."

Valder gets $300 for winning the battle. Pawniard gains 4XP and Valder gains 2Xp! Good job.

All this happens at the evening of Day 6. Yes, flashbacks...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First up, Poffineering!~ @Lord Windos

Ven's good mood surely raises Shiva confidence... a little. After all, she looked forward to this, no actual need to be nervous here.

"Oh... Eh, actually, I got this poffin mixture from a Berry Vendour at the Festival yesterday... *she places it on the counter* He said it'll be splendid for the berries I want to use. Those are *placing all of them on the counter as well* those three Blukk berries, these three Razz berries, and finally these elusive Ranc berries."

Considering after looking at them..."I guess I'll two batches, one only containing Ranc berries - for Happiness! Appearantly, Pokemon love their taste... and one with a mixture of Razz and Blukk berries. They were growing right where I encountered Plusle and Minun, so I bet they will love those especially!" ... "We always cut to the berries to pieces at home before using them... "

*insert cutting noises of berries here, and carefully placing Ranc berry peices on a seperate plate*

"So, and what berries do you gonna use? If you hand them to me, I'll just cut them as well."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up is a scene after baking, in her room. @Iron, important mechanical stuff and a reaction for Pokemon are needed here.

Poffin baking too some time... It's rather dark outside by now. Stiil, Shiva could hear the noises from the still ongoingFestival because of the open window - the fregrence of air at night, filled with positive emotions from mentioned Festival was just to enjoyable to miss.

The Poffins themselves also turned out great! Who thought that Ventus was such a good tutor... His help and guidance was quite helpful. Level up in Crafts for 6XP.

Plusle, Minun and Cottonee were outside their balls, by their caretaker and owner's side. Dinner time.

The rodents looked rather tired, but joyful. After all, they spend the whole day at the Daycare playing and running around, well-rounded by a game of Shuckleball. Now, they're completing the day by sharing a Ranc Berry Poffin with one another.

Next up, Cottonee. The little fluffball looked rather...calm, yet eagerly at Shiva. As if the Pokemon was expecting something from her. Shiva carefully and gently petted the fluffball's head, before speaking to in a soft and caring tone. "Lil' fluffball... The number of companions is growing. With that, the number of Pokemon I have to care is growing as well. My responsibility is increasing. But...Listen, there is no need to prove anything to me, or feel inclinged to force my attention." F.A.E.S. is a serious matter - Cottonee shall not get any ideas. "Remember that you are my favorite among all. I greatly appreciate that you're satisfied with me by now, I thank you for allowing me to gain your trust. I won't disappoint you. After all, I promised that one day you'll be allowed to evolve to your Final Form, and draw power directly from the moon to blast your enemies." ... "I picked up you like the taste of following, so enjoy." Shiva placed some cotton-candy-in-a-box in front of the fluffball. It's from the same Vendor who told her about Swirlix.

Next up, her newest companion... Abra. Upon releasing, the Pokemon looked tired, but delighted. "Be welcome, dear one. From now on; I'll take care of you, and I'll make sure that you enjoy my care and presence. Thank you for allowing me to call myself 'your owner'." ... "You probably aren't used to in controlling you Psychic Powers, and therefor need a lot of rest to not get burned out. I allow you to sleep as much as you like, feel free to enjoy the atmosphere here in the room. I'll stay awake a little more. Tomorrow I'll take you to a place where you can enjoy some free time, for the sake of resting or meeting oher Pokemon, if you agree. But before that, enjoy some dinner." Shiva handed the Abra the same orchid-patterned plate, containing fresh Dry Food and Pirsif-berry-cookies. "I guess you'll also be called... 'Helios.' From your previous owner, I was told that you're a male exemplar, and I bet, one day, you'll be able to shine just like the sun."

With her Pokemon taken care of, it was time now to hit some books. Mostly the Guidebook from Professor Mallorn alongside a list of all Pokemon... The Daycare owners put some trust in her, and she doesn't want to disappoint them by coming up with a half-baked suggestion for the Infiltrator Pokemon.

I think the electric rodents would feel this was the best day ever! They like each other, and they like being active/aggressive, but they don't like actually getting hurt. And of course they love food, and all Pokemon love Ranc Berries.

Cottonee entertains itself by wafting the cotton candy on a Fairy Wind, then swooping through the air to eat it.

Abra...just sleeps. He'll lazily open his mouth to accept food, or appear nearby the kitchen as a hint. He doesn't seem motivated to work on his powers - creating a Kadabra is one of the real challenges in Pokemon raising.

I'm not going to give out actual Happiness points just yet, but these are some happy Pokes!

Now, finally the morning of Day 7. First up, before heading to the Daycare.

Shiva came down to the Pokemon Center's Lobby...a little sluggish, to say it nicely. The events of yesterday were still visible on her. Also, she remembered that she needed-wanted to talk with Ventus... and the issue with Nathan was still waiting to be cleared up...

At the Lobby, she was suprised tha Nathan himself was nowhere to be seen. From Ventus, she got to know that he was already off to his battle with Zamboni... Oh well... There goes her hope to see this battle. She was curious if he had any strategy, and what kind of battle style he'll bring up... Maybe even learn something... But, on the other hand, she understood that he would'd be so fond of delaying the battle until she has returned from the Daycare.

However, hearing from Ventus that he was just about to leave to see the battle by himself - he was just waiting for her to show up before his departure - surely blew away the instant disappointment over the missed chance. Considering... A few moments later, Shiva handed the Pokeballs containing her Electric rodents to Ventus. "Here... I wish for you to take the to the battle. See, I have to go the Daycare, it's my final day there. Please take good care of them, and make sure they cheer on Nathan!"

... ... ... Now that she met him anyway... She hesitated a little before speaking again. "Also... Please clear your shedule for today, we need to talk. Alone. it's...important that we do... Can we meet up later? I'm here at the Daycare, but after that I'll be all free. Alright?"

In case Ventus decides to throw a glimple at the emotions behind this request... He'll spot an honest and pure wish for him to accept, the importance behind her ask, as well as just a bit worry.

"We...have a vital sign from Vincent." If this doesn't cause him to accept, she does not know what does.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, at the Daycare.

As Shiva expected, Golda and Wir were already waiting eagerly for her suggestion on the Infiltrator Pokemon. After s short check-up on the black-spotted egg and releasing Cottonee and Helios (Abra) to roam freely at the pasture, the time has come.

"First up, I deeply thank you for putting the trust in me to entrust me with your plans. Be informed that I'll tell none about anything that has to do with the secret mission."

"I determined that the ideal Pokemon for the job would be... an Absol. Second choice, Mightyena. Both Pokemon do have the traits needed here, evil and secret organisations would likely accept an intimidating looking Dark Type. However, both of these species are known to be very loyal to those who trained and raised them Absol also has the advantage to sense it when danger is approaching."

"I... also wish to be informed over to ongoing of the Mission from time to time. Not taking part in it, but be updated whenever something noticable happens. This is because someone of those I'm travelling through Chreshire has an own interest in pusuiting and likely bringing down The Almanac. So, I'll actually be helping him from the shadows. Of course I will not tell him a thing."

Golda: "We'll have to upgrade your cell phone if we want to communicate with you. I can have that done by the end of the day - a simple chip is all it takes to be more secure."

"I know where we can get a Poochyena," says Golda. "As for Absol..."

"The Running," finishes Wir.

"Yes. They consider it a disaster whenever Absol shows up at the Running of the Pokemon in Ginger Town, and they may be right. If the signs are true, then we face many disasters in the coming year. But of course Absol does not bring them, she simply heralds them. So, that is a plan for the mother. Shiva, do you have any suggestions for the father? What traits do you think we should breed into Absol, or Mightyena?"

META: day 7 is the last day here right?

Larry wakes up from a good nights sleep to find a text from Rachel saying "you still in ginger town?" Larry soon replied yes as he woke up and let the karp out of its ball "so your the luck fella I'm keeping." Larry says as he watched the karp flop on the floor "this is disturbing you little joker" Larry said as he returned the fish to the pokeball "I wish I hadn't lost my appetite to the fish" Larry said as he walked out to the festival

Larry found some stands that would win him money "hey I should try letting the prof train my karp! and I could use some for shukle ball." Larry said as he went to the stand

LARRY WILL PLAY SOME MORE GAMES
RIP Larry 9/9/2016 - 8/31/2017 "blessed by lord Godmunk with patriotic values and a crush that lasted longer than expected"  Heart the skulls ruins RP group (main group not the random add ons)

Larry has no money to play games with really good prizes. You need at least $200. Did you sell the second Magikarp for $50?

But there's lots of smaller games, where winning is its own satisfaction, and Larry finds a few of those. Including a sort of "flight simulator" ride that you can actually program while you ride in it, for different effects and mini-plots.

But on the way, who does he see but Rachel Dean? She has a rare Pokemon on her shoulder - a Rufflet!

"Oh hey Larry. Still doing nerdy stuff like that computer programming? Well, I can't complain - my Pokedex is better than ever thanks to you. I'm on my way to challenge Zamboni, but I guess I need to win a CarnyCoin first. I think I'll use Rufflet in a few games of Shuckleball - Rufflet are notorious for their creative ways to get Shuckle out of his shell in the wild! You heading on home to Corsage Port after the festival ends?"

"I'm all up for the update of my cell. Oh, I'll also take the black-spotted egg with me tomorrow morning then. For now, it can spend another night in the hatchery. Thank you for allowing me to have it ther temporarly."

"I know. Absol are seen as a bad omen... By the most people. By looking up closer into this species, they actually just wish to warn people from the disasters they have foreseen."

What traits to breed on... "Absol is thankfully in the Field egg group, giving us a lot of possibilities to choose from. Loyality from a Growlithe would be benefitial. The sneakyness of a Sneasel. The endurance of a Lycanroc, Midnight Form."

"By the way, did you manage to burrow a good Growlithe from Officer Jenny?"

'Uh oh.  Spikes.  Not good.  This is a bad time for Staryu to not know Rapid Spin.  I'll have to consider teaching him that if I have to try again...'

"Quite clever, Zamboni.  Say I can switch as much as I want, but lay down some spikes to make me heavily reconsider before doing so.  Well, challenge accepted.  Swiftfire, you know what to do next!  Ember!  Leave Delibird on 1 HP!"

Order: As practiced, Ember is going to start coming in doubles until Delibird goes down!
Accuracy: 4 Dexterity + 2 Fight + 1 Canalize = 6 D6
Damage: 2 Power + 2 Strength + 1 STAB + 1 SE - 3 Enemy Vit = 2 D6 + 1 Damage (not forgetting STAB this time!  Even if I did subconsciously account for it in that first post...)
Effect: Burn 1 (1)
Pain Penalization: -1

"Jenny agreed to let us borrow her Growlithe after the festival while she visits her family, off-duty. And she'll have Spinarak. What a great idea, to have Growlithe serve stud for two of our projects! That gives us a good cover."
