Nathan frowns as he sees Porygon get absolutely destroyed by the Glaceon. The digital duck had barely left a mark on that Glaceon. 'I'll have to work on getting him more used to battling. This was probably his first battle, and it's definitely one at the deep end of the pool...'
Despite this thought though, he still thinks Ventus can do respectably well. Setting aside thoughts of Porygon for now, he keeps cheering! "Come on Ven, keep going! It's not over yet!" Plusle and Minun are still cheering as well! Ralts even joins in!

He sends out the largest Snorunt you've ever seen. Apparently the name is a misnomer! It dances back and forth on its little feet, happy to feel ice beneath it once more. There's a certain amount of splashing going on after that Fire Blast ripped through.

Nathan's in disbelief at the incredible power that Raphael just displayed. 'Yup, that's what I was afraid might happen in our battle...shudder...so glad it didn't...and that it didn't result in anything lethal this time...'
After he takes a second to regain his composure, he resumes cheering. It's an even 2 v 2 now!

Ventus was outright terrified with what ALMOST happened! Cupping his face in both hand, he just shudder to himself at the thought of Raphael killing another Pokémon. 'THANK Reshirem that I was able to call that out in time! If I hadn't...I don't think my little angel could have lived with aftermath of its actions,' the frightened man thought, before he calls out to Raphael. "My angel, for now on if you happen to summon forth an extremely powerful move, hold back! I don't want to make a murder out of you!" Ventus shouts out to them.
Raphael, equally unhappy with nearly turning that Glaceon into a puddle of water, nodded its head fiercely. It want to play with other Pokémon, not kill them!
Order: Have Togepi use Charm until it hits, then...Metronome repeatidly. They now have standing orders to hold back on Lethal Attacks, because NO ONE wants to start commiting Pokemurder this way!

Add them together and reapportion them, so now Togepi can ignore 1 point of pain penalization, and Snorunt has 1 additional pain penalization. Snorunt also takes 1 damage as an added bonus, but he still has 6 hp remaining.

Shiva gets another of the ice trainers to train with her. He has two Seel he'd like to raise up so they actually can have an ice type. He introduces himself as Wayne.
"These Seel ran away from the circus at a young age to join me as a trainer! That's why one is pink and one is blue. They're not actually shiny."
There will be $100 at stake in this battle.

"Raphael, that is enough for now. Come back to me, my little angel, so that we can get you the treatment you deserve," Ventus called out, looking a bit worried but proud of his Togepi's efforts. Despite the rocky start, hie seems to be doing fairly well so far. Even if luck heavily factored into that. Feeling the full extent of its injuries, Raphael quickly skates over to their master, who quickly returns them and hands the ball of to the Nurse.
Sighing to himself a bit, he flicked out his wrist, summoning Apsis onto the field. Upon contact with the ice, it hiss angrily, before slithering over to one of the melted pools of water. Fire Blast had quite the effect on the field! "Apsis, you are my last Pokémon remaining, so do me proud here! Use Leer to lower this pine tree's defenses, then follow up with a barrage of Poison stings!"
Order: Have Apsis use Leer on target until its defenses fails, then have it continually use Poison Sting. Have it retreat to my side when it gets to half health or lower so that I can administer a Potion. I have a bad feeling about this!

It's going to be a tough battle for Ventus. Zamboni may be using his second string of defenders, but his ability to manage his Pokemon is very high. Having the initiative is the best advantage!
To recap: Snorunt has 6/7 hp and is Charmed. He also has a -1 penalty.

Ekans returns for a Potion, then fires a Poison Sting from the edge of the battlefield. It's kind of warm near all this hot cocoa.

Zamboni skates out onto the ice to give Snorunt an Antidote and a hug. Then he skates back, bearing the Pokemon in his arms. It chirps at him. "Looks like you still have a shot, Ventus. But it'll be tough - I think my next Pokemon is a good matchup for your Ekans!" Zamboni points, and a clod of earth (revealed by Fire Blast) moves aside to reveal a Swinub, rooting around in the mud.

Ekans is freshly healed, now facing its nemesis: a ground type wielding cold weather! Cue appropriate battle music!

Ventus smiles at Zamboni, tilting his head at his choice of Pokémon. "Ah, a Swinub I see. I figured you'd have one of those in reserve, and I am glad to see it in action. Let see who wins: the cute little piggy or the big bad snake!" Ventus says, an intense current flowing in his voice. Now the time to act in full force! "Apsis, paralyze this Swinub with fear with Glare, and make sure it hits! Then keep up the pressure with Bite. Give it your all!" Ventus says, extend out his left arm in a palm strike. Apsis, sensing the sheer force of will that her master exerting, makes haste to execute his orders!
Orders: Spend a Will Point so that Glare hits (Glare can paralyze Ground types), then have Apsis start tearing in with Bite. The Natural Sage makes his final stand!
