I feel like Nathan is not only a blasted fighter, but also wants everything to be right and correct.
Not blaming him here. Too bad there are people with other aspects and opinions, though. Life isn't always fair and nice.

That is one of his character flaws, yes.  An admirable goal, but not extremely realistic.

Well, Nathan is sort of the moral compass of the group and policer, while you are the heart/glue that holds us together. He makes sure that everyone stay on the straight and narrow most of the time, and you keep the group from collapsing in on itself in times of conflict and/or stress. Ventus has double duty as not only the mentor of the group, but also its enforcer. He's all to willing to teach, nurture and help others in need, but he's just a liable to be lash out at those who dare harm his friends/Pokémon

All things considered, Dragonstrike is playing his character rather well, and I have no problem with Ventus being occasionally dressed down by him. Keep him grounded in both law and in the group, allowing him to learn from his mistakes instead of brazenly carrying on with his actions. In turn, Ventus is there to provide support and advice when its needed, and will always have the boy's back, no matter what. You keep everyone in good spirits, and prevent conflicts from getting out of hand.

Larry job....is something I really don't have a clue in. He really hasn't defined himself other than a poor trainer for his Pokémon (For now), and very trouble prone. Almost to the point of recklessness, really! Valder is supposed to be my enforcer, doing things that no one really wants to do, but Nylon has been rather passive with his interaction with the group, besides a few instances.

Welp, shame I missed out on reacting to what just happened.  Nathan would have stepped in, most likely.

Though a good reason for him not doing so is because of the big, scary arbok.  It's definitely super intimidating!  He was likely too nervous about that confrontation to do anything about it.  That's what we'll go with, I think.  Now, he needs to talk with Ventus about Arbok.  And he WILL do some thing if it happens again.

Expect to see the start of that conversation in an hour or two.

I thought he was ok with Apsis hunting other Pokémon now? Or was it thinking about the greater picture that bugs him? Ventus probably realized by now that his actions were not the smartest in the situation he was in, but when two Pokémon ganged up on him, he just sorta reacted along with Arbok. That, and at some level he knew that stopping Apsis from chowing down on the Pokémon was going to be a fool's game, since it already showed a strong disobedience streak in the Gym Match and felt that it was EXTREMELY hungry. He could argue that trying to stop her could have done more harm than good in the situation he was in...

It's definitely to do with the big picture aspect.  While Nathan was stunned by that reaction, part of him was also hoping Ventus didn't take it too far.  Nathan never really said he was okay with it, either.  Just asked Ventus to think more carefully before acting.

Fool's game or not, Ventus did nothing while Arbok terrified poor Mr. Pin and Shuckle.  Thats got repurcussions attached.

He's not going to feel much sympathy at first to Mr. Pin at first, but if you bring up the taboo and the big picture once more, that will get Ventus to open up. I think I have identify yet another flaw of Ventus, on top of Fae Paranioa, his ruthless unfettered nature when pressured/friends are threatened, and his tendency to worry : He gets WAY to into the moment of things when in a battle. Its all about finishing the fight as fast as possible for him, in order to prevent future damage from occurring. He needs to really work on that, since he its something he can actually work on without therapy.

Yeah, that's definitely something that will come up.  I might not be able to type it out until I get off from work though. That's in 4 hours, by the way.

Between breeding for the WT Event and other activities, I have ways to spend the time. I'm patient .... Sort of!

You saw what happened with Plusle, and she still thinks this was her fault. Not doubting on Ventus' skills, but looks like he understands the request to please take care around them in the way that she does exactly this.

He's hurt because you had to ask. Ventus is not going to use Apsis willy nilly around the group or other trainers until he gets a handle on her behavior, and builds up some more trust between them. He thought that would be obvious to everyone, but Shiva broke that illusion in one fell swoop. If Nathan was the one to brouch the subject, he probably would not have been hurt, as he expects those types of question coming from the boy. From you, his closest confidant and best friend, though. Surprise Attack!

@Dragonstrike : Looks like Nathan outburst triggered Ventus' 'Oh, so THAT is why!' realization. The man not going to like being yelled at, but he's going to take it with minimum complant. He's got to at least attempt to dig himself out of the hole he is in!
