Scyther bursts forth, a flash of green from the red bushes. Warned by Kirlia, you turn to face the bug. Blades whirring, a rain of mulch surrounds him. He looks extremely angry at these intruders.

Scyther ignores the proffered honey and attacks him, full out, lightning fast! This is no pushover Pokemon! This is the strongest wild species of this quadrant! Ventus will have to use every fiber of his being to earn this Pokemon!

Now Ventus' Pokemon intervenes, managing to divide the damage between Ventus and itself. That Scyther is FAST! This is the power of successive actions.

I hope you make it successful out of the Scyther-Encounter! And without serious injuries. Wishing you two good luck, in general and with the dice.

Considering Ventus is on 2 HP, Nathan's going to do his darndest to make sure they get out of this okay!  As long as nobody takes any lethal damage, they'll be fine.  Let's just pray this Scyther doesn't know Slash...

3 HP, actually. He has a Vitality of 2, not 1, so he currently has 3/7 HP left. If he gets to bady banged up, he has Sitrus Juice just for the occasion. Oh, and Ventus still wants that Scyther, even after being creamed. Perhaps even more, now that it has demonstrated such strength to him!

Yeah, he's weird like that. If Scyther tries to get too close, though, then he's wiping out his knife to take a stab at it!

And two more from the third, with a pokemon taking one of that (despite the bug resistance).  This scyther could have easily KOed Ventus in one round!

Of course, if Iron says 3 left, then it's 3.

And if Scyther gets any closer to Ventus, Kirlia has orders to defend him (and teleport him to a safer location so scyther doesn't immediately know where he is).  The knife shouldn't be necessary.

If Kirlia try to get him away from the battle and Raphael, he's not going to comply with that action. He's worried about you and his Pokémon as well, you know.

Nathan specifically stated to keep Ventus in view of the battle, so don't worry about that.  He's just trying to keep that Scyther away from Ventus, currently.

Also, I know Ventus is probably panicking as much as Nathan is right now, but that Scyther has a will score of 9.  Even that net ball is going to be shaky at best this early in the fight.

Yeah, thought so. I nearly called Ventus Vincent once. And the I rememberd that that was Dies and wrote Winston instead... took me another 3 minutes before I got it right

Nathan specifically stated to keep Ventus in view of the battle, so don't worry about that.  He's just trying to keep that Scyther away from Ventus, currently.

Then Ventus will have no complaints. The researcher isn't panicing so much as going into 'dangerous mode', like how he was like during the Flowers Incident and the Wizard Did It Incident. If Scyther Plans to target him, he's going to show no mercy to it. Think PTSD, rather than blind fear.

This isn't the first time Ventus has been attacked by a feral Pokémon, so he knew what to expect from fighting Scyther. The damage still hurts, though! Even if he didn't have a chance to react at all *Grumble Grumble*

It wasn't an ambush, because you encountered the Pokemon already and were face to face with it. You had already offered it foods. How would you know it was attacking if it didn't attack? lol

The reason food doesn't give you a bonus is more because the food is what allows you a roll at all. Spectacular food might grant a bonus.

Just thought of something: If Ventus catches Scyther, he'll have a Pokemon with multiple priority moves!

Priority moves are always good, so multiple of those on the same Pokemon are even better! Catch that Scyther at all costs!

I still think it suddenly attack me without a chance to react (Beyond the 2nd action evasion, I mean) is still a bit unfair, since I should have had a reaction to it its sudden aggresion (Ventus is an empath! He could pick up its intension the moment it decided to slice into it!), but I am not going to argue with you about it. Got to roll with the slashes, I guess...

Fair points on the food and priority movepool, however!
