So we will not likely see these balls until late game, unless we luck out and find one in some random location early on. The Friend Balls are a long shot by this point, though, given that me and Shiva passed up the opportunity to grab a few at the Festival . Even if we did pick up some pick apricorns, we would have to find a guy that is able to make those balls, and that would indeed be a longshot...

Oh, sweet Luxury Balls...
Approaching and try to befriend a Pokemon instead of beating it up seemingly does wonders to Happiness and Loyality. Of course, whether the attempt is successful or not, depends on the dice... Feels good though Shiva became somewhat good at this. Happy companions is what the craves!~ Great moves comes directly afterwards.

There were Friendballs buyable at Ginger's Festival? I must have missed that.

It really does. It means the pokemon is actually somewhat comfortable being around you right off the bat if you manage to get them at full health, as opposed to being unsure about it or outright hating you for forcing them to come with you. And getting that jump start on Loyalty really, really helps with pokemon that have a lot of Disobedience.
Of course, the problem is actually capturing them at full health. Considering their Will scores tend to vastly outnumber our Insight and Seal Strengths on weaker pokeballs, it takes some real luck and good planning to obtain them without battling them first.

This just sweetened the fact that I sucessfully acquired four Pokemon so far. Thank you! And good luck with Joltik!~
Inflicting Status Conditions does help, it reduces 1 Willpoint and does not decrease their HP.

I can attest, as Michael was the only Pokémon I captured using diplomacy, rather than beating it into submission, and I got a Pokémon that was somewhat loyal and happy about me! I tried that with Uriel, but that worked out as well as expected (Damn its willpower!)... I just wish that it was easier to get bonus dice for this method of capture, as it seems like unless you have high insight or pretty good items to barter with them, your SOL on that route!
@ PhantomUnderYourDesk : You can use status to lower Willpower, but I doubt a Pokémon will be happy with being Frozen, Burnt, Paralyzed, forced to fall asleep, Confused, Attracted, or Poisoned if you go down that route!

Yeah, I'm very impressed with how lucky your captures have been. Every pokemon you've obtained has had that base 2 Happiness and Loyalty so far (with the sole exception of Azu). I'm hoping appealing to Joltik's desire to recharge off of electrical sources will help me obtain it more easily. That, and Kirlia's psychic abilities adding one success to Nathan's Insight.
Yeah, that's the other reason I wanted to get an electric type. Thunder Wave is pretty amazing when it comes to making pokemon easier to capture over a long period of time. Though Sleep and Freeze should be slightly more effective. Poison and Burn are decent too if all you care about is catching the pokemon, but then you have to worry about potential lethal damage after the pokemon faints...not sure if the volatile statuses such as Confusion and Attract would do anything though, since they don't affect capture rates at all in the games. It also shouldn't affect happiness and loyalty too much as long as you take proper care of the pokemon afterwards and heal the status condition. Leaving them that way after capturing them is what might cause problems.

We are not inside the Games. I feel at least being infatuated does have an impact on the Will Power of the Pokemon to capture. In the end, it's GM's decision though... Too bad this Status Condition is only available via TM Attract (no Pokemon learns this naturally, I checked) or having the ability Cute Charm.

I'm aware that, but the games are still the basis for most of this tabletop RPG. But yeah, GM's decision in the end.
As for learning attract...there's several pokemon that learn it naturally:
- Beautifly
- Skitty line
- Milotic
- Luvdisc
- Wormadam
- Glameow line
- Finneon line
- Woobat line
- Audino
- Spritzee line (Miasmedic exempted)
Bulbapedia is awesome for those quick references, yo.

I though you naturally had Attract, Phantom, since you have always infatuated me~! Joking aside, if you want the move badly enough, you can try talking to Iron and see if you can't make a deal to get it! I'd love to see the in game effects of that move, hehe!
