Grimer Round 2

Well, damn that pile of goo... Now it was her fox who was scared off getting any closer to Grimer. "It's alright, lil' one! Just try... to to get hit too much now..." Wait, no is not the time to feel insecure - Fennekin might pick this up and feel just as insecure about the battle. No need for that.

Azurill seemed fine, though. Maybe Shiva's words about her being present to prevent any serious damage have reached mouse, or it felt just comfortale in her top hat. O it was the Soothe Bell's effect. "Very well done! Now begin with Water Gun, drench that pile of purple mud!"

Orders for this round: Azu will use Water Gun for the rest of the Encounter, Fennekin is unable to attack this round. Before I give him any orders, I'd like to see how Round 2 turns out - it might determine whether I'll order Psy Beam or Ember.

Accuracy Roll Water Gun: 2 Dexterity + 1 Fight + 2 Channel = 5 D6
Damage Roll Water Gun: 2 Strenght + 2 Power of move, no STAB = 4 D6

Technically I should know your Pokemon first before initiatives, but this'll be fine. Whichever one you list first will be the 11.

Upon agreement, he flicked out his wrist, sending out Raphael Pokeball onto the field first (They have the highest initiative), then with another flick out came Michael's. Upon appearing on the battle field, the chick spotted who they were going to fight and let out an excited chitter, happy that they going to make even more friends on the battlefield! The mushroom, meanwhile, started to eye up the Poliwhirl, quite eager to get started on draining its life with Absorb!

Order: Raphael will use Charm as his first action on Machop, then Yawn on Poliwhirl as his second action of the round. Then after the first round is concluded, it will use Metronome once per round on Machop. Michael, meanwhile, will be focusing down said Poliwhirl with Absorb twice per round, as he wants to take them down likity split!

Moves:

Absorb
Accuracy Pool: DEX (2) + Fight (2) + Channel (2) - Consec. Action (2 and 3) = Pool 4 and Pool 3
Damage: STR (2) + 1 + STAB (1) + Super Effective (Auto 1 damage on target)
Effect: Restore HP 1/2 Damage dealt; minimum of 1 HP

Charm
Accuracy Pool: DEX (2) + Fight (2) + Allure (1) - Consec Action (2)= Pool 3
Effect: STR -2 on target

Metronome
Accuracy: Pool 6 (DEX + Fight + Channel)
Damage and Effect: Random!

Yawn
Accuracy Pool: DEX (2) + Fight (2) + Channel (2) - Consec. Action (3)= Pool 3
Puts target to sleep after one round

Corsage Port: Come on in to Post Town! - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
- Note: Post Town's music starts playing at the outskirts of the town in GtI, but is much quieter than when you actually enter Town. I picked this particular track for Corsage Port since the town's outskirts are a major part of Route 03, so the usage of this track can mimic that of the original game's.

Well, the training went fairly well. For Staryu. While it didn't know bubblebeam yet, it was launching bubbles in clusters that could almost be called Bubble. It was going to take a little more work to learn that move. Unfortunately, Kirlia's meditation to try and achieve a Calm Mind was interrupted by Joltik's attempts to start learning Electro Web. Frequently. Stray strands of webbing would land near him, followed by a Thunder Wave soon afterwards! Kirlia barely managed to get out of the way whenever that happened. Sometimes it was the other way around, and Kirlia had even less warning to get out of the way of the paralyzing electricity.

Nathan wonders if Grid is perhaps doing it to poke fun at Kirlia's slight fear of bugs...

"Alright, that's enough for now. This is going to take a little work, but we'll get there eventually. And when we do, you'll be slinging charged up webs like a pro, Grid. Sorry for disturbing your practice, Kirlia. I know keeping a clear mind isn't the easiest thing in the world. I'll account for that the next time we do a training session so you can focus properly."

Nathan looks around to see what the others are up to. Ventus was battling one of the sailors...Shiva...a pile of purple sludge. Looks like a grimer, but it looked...small. Hmmm....Valder had disappeared, as usual. Wonder what he was up to?

Reshirim must have been in a good mood, for they blessed him with victory once more on the battlefield! Raphael was just hoping up and down in sheer happiness, very pleased that they once again clenched victory for their master. Michael, meanwhile, closed their eyes and puffed up their chest(?) in pride, before wandering over to the little angel and giving them a nuzzle of thanks. Tough mushroom guy that he might aspire to be someday, even he knows how much a pivotal role the chick played in his success on the battlefield.

Ventus was just plain giddy, grinning at the two of his family members in clear joy of their achievements. 'I'm quite enthused that I won this battle decisively, instead of suffering streak after streak of misfortune and just having a poor performance altogether. Thank you Reshirim for your kindness!' the researcher though, walking over to sailor to shake his hand (and get the prize money owed to him, of course). "Excellent battle, good sir! I didn't expect that usage of Wake Up Slap, but its a good way to escape one of the most dreaded status effect. Perhaps your plan was to have Poliwhirl use Hypnosis, then employ it decisively onto either of my Pokémon? Regardless, I enjoy myself in our bout together, and I wish you the best of luck on your own adventure across the seas," he said, before accepting the money and wandering onto the main path.

It was getting late at this point (I assume that the deyo investigation counted as an encounter for the day; correct me if I'm wrong!), so Ventus decided to wait by the near by resting area for the rest of his friends to regroup. Ven wanted to push straight into Corsage without resting (Beds and Baths always sound so nice!), but he knew that the rest of the group might not want to push themselves that hard. Though, given that the last time he saw Shiva was getting a glimpse of her fight a Grimer, perhaps she would be eager to finish their journey to the port town....

Order: Wait until the rest of the group finish their encounters, then recommend that they just make double time to Corsage. If their is still time left in the day, hold a Training session for Ariel and Niobat. Also, we didn't get the chance to pick Berries/Herbs on this part of the route, but that might be intentional, since the group is so close to civilization.

Grimer Round 3
(Well... Why did I bought four Antidotes from Professor Mallorn right at the start of the campaign? For exacts such situations~)

'Curse that Grimer... Curse it to hell and leave it engulfed in flames evermore.' Better that Shiva does not speak out that thought... Might scare away the Ranger in the end, which we absolutely not want.

However, this was exactly what she was afraid of... Poisoning. Toxic. Hurtful in every matter, slowly crippling and bringing down the biggest enemy that wasn't part Steel or Posion Type (well...unless you have a Salandit, that is). Such a power was fascinating and outright devasting in her view.

But she also knew what to do in such situations - and she came in prepared. "Fennekin... Azu... Come over here, please! There is no way I'll let you suffer poisoning..." She drew two of the Antidotes she had in stock and used one on Fennekin and one on Azu. Both Pokemon accepted the care thankfully.

"Ready to move on? Alright then... begin with Water Gun and Psybeam then!"

Orders for this round: Azurill wil continue with Water Gun. Fennekin will begin pestering the pile of goo with Psybeam until he reaches a -2 Pain Penalization - that's where Ember powered up by Blaze will be the choice instead. Everything once per round, as usual from my side. If Grimer brings up Poison Gas again, we'll evade that.

Effect: Bringing down that Grimer!
Secondary Effect: Poison is Shiva's arch enemy, so she's somehwhat scared of that Grimer - But she does a fine job not showing this. If she'd show weakness now, her Pokemon will pick this up and become just as insecure.
Pain Penalization: 0 on both Pokemon so far.

Accuracy Roll Water Gun: 2 Dexterity + 1 Fight + 2 Channel = 5 D6
Damage Roll Water Gun: 2 Strenght + 2 Power of move, no STAB yet = 4 D6

Accuracy Roll Psybeam:
2 Dexterity + 1 Fight + 2 Channel = 5 D6
Damage Roll Psybeam: 3 Strenght (2 on default, +1 thanks to Howl) + 2 Power of move, no STAB yet = 5 D6
Additional Note: 1 chancedice to inflict Confusion.

Evasion: 2 Dexterity + 1 Fight + 0 Evasion = 3 D6

Additional notes: So the Ranger will watch me and (hopefully) let me faint that Grimer?

Grimer Round 3

Psybeam
(5)(6)(5)(6)(4) Critical hit!
5d6-2vit +2 crit
(3)(1)(5)(3)(6)
Grimer takes 2 damage. 2/5hp.

Water Gun
(3)(4)(6)(6)(5)
(6)(6) Well...that's handy! Grimer faints.

The ranger comes up and says, "Thanks, young lady! That Grimer may be slow to react, but he's actually pretty fast on foot! And the one time I got close to him, he hit me with a Stench! He's been scaring off all the wild Pokemon, and I don't have any fast enough to catch up with. Here, let me give you an Antidote to help make up for what you spent."

Well, that didn't take them long. Once everyone meets up again, Nathan recommends they start heading into town. He doesn't say much else. He has a few reasons of his own for wanting to get there quickly, not all of them ones he wishes to voice.

Awesome... That last Water Gun from Azu was abruptly strong, indeed. Maybe the mouse was powered up by the heat of the battle? Maybe some of Shiva's encouragement finally reached the mouse's ears and heart? Well, it not only earned Azu a cuddle, but also the crafting of a gift using the wild roses as soon as they reached a more calm surrounding.

She turned towards the Ranger. Almost forgot he was there... Almost. "Hehe... Sure thing... And thanks a bunch for the Antidote! It'll surely come in very handy." Greatly appreciated! Neither Fennekin nor Azurill suffered any impairing damage (Fennekin suffered 1 point od damage - not enough to inflict a Paon Penalization), so they are free to stay outside their balls longer. Hmm... So that Grimer was causing problems in the area, appearantly... Ugh... Let's deeply hope there is not a nest of those nearby. The simply thought of that made her shiver...

'Thought' was a good word, actually. A Ranger does know the surrounding very well, right? Maybe... Her words came a little hesitant, but she was clearly curious about the issue. "*cough* Ehm... Listen, you perhaps know this area like nothing else, do you? I saw Spearow are native here... In fact, I picked one up for me. (Ronin Spearow was still resting on her shoulder, most likely sleeping again) It'S just a very tired exemplar, it seems. However... That's not the point. I heard that one of the lil' group I'm travelling with was outright attacked by a Spearow. That's nothing particularly special, actually, given they can react very aggressive if pestered or having their territory entered rather harshly... Point is, that particular Spearow was armed with Sticks. From that I heard, the bird also knew how to use them."

"Rather strange, right... I didn't know these birds were able to use weapons and items... You know anything about such a Spearow or similar cases?"

The fact that the Spearow she's talking about is practically sitting right there inches away from her is better off concealed for now. Shiva didn't know what the reply may be and how the Ranger would react on hearing such words...
