[Game] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure: Celadon City Vandel
#81
Reiner finds it difficult to hide his disbelief as well.  'Seriously?  Mew is ACTUALLY in Celadon?  And the cats managed to sneak up on it?!  Good gravy...now what are we going to do about that...hmmm....'

Would he be able to take on a Mythical pokemon?  Heck no, he didn't think he was THAT good.  He knew the stories of legendaries.  He'd grown up hearing them!  You did NOT mess with a legendary pokemon if you could avoid it.  Best thing to do was to try and keep them from getting angry or annoyed at you...

Hmmm...Mew was a playful pokemon, right?  As long as he didn't provoke it, maybe he could do something with that...

Reiner tosses a Sitrus Berry to Weavile and motions to him to not engage Mew (with another, already well established complex hand signal).  Reiner didn't think he could sneak up there like the cats just had to see what was going on, so he had to trust that Weavile and Felicia could manage to persuade Mew to at least stick around for a little longer...Reiner had no intentions to harm the critter, after all, and Felicia certainly had quite the charm to her.  And that Lax Incense.  A relaxed Mew would make for an easier to persuade one.  When it was more comfortable, maybe he could head into the building to see what was going on.

Mew, despite being rather distracted at the moment, DID notice when you tossed the Sitrus Berry to Weavile. Realizing that perhaps it was not a fine idea stick around in the same location for much longer, Weavile turned to find another hiding spot....and comes face to face with the Legendary itself.  Teleportation is a handy trait, eh? It looked at the Dark/Ice type curiously for a moment, before motioning to the berry it was holding and to him in general. Looks like its asking if it what the deal was with that transfer, and why it was stalking them like so. The psychic seemed pretty content, all things considered, floating mid air in front of the artic feline with its tail swaying calmly behind it. It also didn't know it had another spy in the form of Felicia on them as well, so the whole situation had not gone to pot juuuust yet.

Well then...guess the jig was up there.  Now Mew was aware of Weavile's presence...and Reiner's to an extent...

Weavile nearly drops the Sitrus Berry in surprise, and Reiner himself can only stare as now he can actually see Mew with his own eyes...Mew hadn't fled yet, so that was a good sign...and if all it wanted to know was why Weavile had just received a Sitrus Berry...Reiner motions to Weavile to give the berry to Mew.  They didn't really need it, to be frank.

'Heh, guess you're completely out of our league, aren't ya?  Well, ya got us fair and square, Mew.  Not trying to startle ya, just being cautious.  Not every day you get to meet a living legend, after all.  Just trying to be friendly now that we know you're here.'  Reiner wasn't sure if Mew actually had telepathy or not, but if it did, well...there wasn't really any other thing he could think of to try.  He didn't want to battle Mew, that's for sure.  Not if it was going all out.

Oh, and before things could go sour, Reiner motions to Felicia that there isn't really any need to hide now.  The jig was up, and if they startled Mew too badly, well, it'd probably disappear.

Mew happily accept the berry a cute "Mew!" , before patting the Weavile on the head for its gift. It didn't receive many often, due to its reclusive and nomadic lifestyle, but that just made them all the sweeter! The artic cat, for his part, was quite nervous in being the presence of the almost literally cat god, but it was soon dispelled by a weird, calming sensation he was getting from the psychic. Its Psychic powers didn't work on him, obviously, but something about being in such close contact was soothing none of the less. He felt as if he was being blessed... Weavile gains Mew's Favor.

Reiner's approach and telepathic message came as a surprise to the Legendary; it didn't expect a human to use that form of communication with it! Without pause, build up, or any overt signs period, Mew was suddenly right in front of your face. Yikes! This causes you take a few steps back, but you aburtly stop in place as a pale blue aura surrounded your body. The divine feline then begins to hover around your body, getting a more comprehensive and intrusive look at the, before reappearing right in front of your face. It closed its eyes in thought, before nodding its small head; looks like you passed its inspection...though what and what not it was looking for remains a mystery to you.

Re-opening its eyes, it stares straight into yours, before thoughts flashed to the for front of your mind: Why are you watching me? I don't mind the gifts or friendliness, but its not often a person or being can actually notice me. Its quite unexpected...and very exciting! Peaks my curiosity, it does! So, why?

 Oh my.

'Ah, so you DO have telepathy!  Well, that makes this easier.  I doubt you want to be noticed by anyone else.  To be perfectly honest, I'm probably not too much different from a lot of the few who do notice you.  Lots of interest surrounding legendary and mythical pokemon, after all.  I'm sure you're pretty used to it by now.  I actually just barely managed to catch a glimpse of ya just earlier.  Sent Weavile and that Persian over there...'  Reiner points out Felicia, who's sitting quite contentedly where Mew can see her.  '...to confirm if I had actually seen what I thought I saw.  Quite interesting to see that the scant rumors concerning your presence here were true.'

He has to pause for a moment...well, honesty isn't typically a part of the profession, but he wasn't going to gain any trust with Mew if he was lying...

'So uh...yeah.  Why we were watching you...a lot of curiosity, for one.  And I was also sorta tasked with tracking you down, but...well, I'm not confident I'd be able to take ya in a fight, that's for sure.  I've got too much respect for legends to even think about attempting that.  I'm sure you've smacked silly a fool or two in the past if they somehow managed to corner ya and sought to try and capture you via force. So I figured I might as well try a more sociable approach. It's worked for me before, so I felt it was worth a shot.'

Mew just shrugs at his initial statement, indeed nonplussed about the allure that surrounds them. They didn't get to their age without having to learning a thing or two the endemic curiousity and zeal that plagued the human condition. Then again, given its own natural mischievousness and investigative traits, it didn't really harbor any resentment or ill will towards humanity like some of the other existing Legendaries.

Another stream of thoughts popped into Reiner's head, seemingly coming within himself than without : I DO have telepathy, but I'm not using that to communicate with you. Pure, Legendary Psychic power directed at most human minds....its not very fun to talk about it. So instead I'm just using your own thought process to generate messages from me to you. People don't want to turn into vegetables, and I just want to speak clearly to them, so I came up with something that would make both us happy! Neat, huh?

The psychic feline does a back flipped in the air, clearly pleased with itself for creating this communication method. You are too, since you brain gets to stay nice and unmelted, instead of dribbling out of your ears.... As you continued your explaination, more and more thoughts of 'yours' starts pouring into your mind, creating this odd sensation of one thought tail ending into another : Understandable. Not everyday that some being meets up with one of us Legendaries, so I can forgive the intrusion upon my privacy. Besides, given how much I sneak up and spy on you human, I consider it fair game on both our parts, really! As for capturing me...hmm.

The Mew puts a paw to its chin and thinks for a moment, before nodding their head again once more, coming to a decision, just as another thought pops into your skull: Well, I can't find a fault with your honestly, so you gets points for that. I like my freedom, though, so points for me there. Then again, its been a rather long time since ANYONE has interacted with me at such a length, and so politely to at that, so 2 points for you. Finally, though, I know about your organization's lust for power and control- I looked through your mind before 'speaking with you-, and having me on their side would just be unfair to the other players in the game of world domination. You know what I'm talking about, right? Hmm... 2 Points against 2 Points. Looks like it comes down to me to break the tie....

Floating back and forth through the air, they purred to themselves in further contemplation, before they stopped and smack one paw into the other in a Eurika moment. Which you so 'happen' to share with Mew, as the thought came unbidden to your mind: I know how to solve this, a good old Pokémon battle! You send out all your Pokémon to fight me, and I do my best to fight you! I'll hold back, of course, and won't use any unfun moves like Fissure, Zap Cannon, or Lethal Damage, and you do the same! I'll also refrain from healing off damage to myself so long as you do, but I not going to absolutely forbid it! That would just be just as a buzz killer as those nasty old moves I mention. Instead, every time you use a Potion or Status healing item, I'll use Recover or Refresh in response! You also get to use one revival item for free, cause you were nice and honest to me! I'll give you until Monday Night to prepare for the battle, then you can meet me in the opens fields behind the Pokémon Center. Don't worry about anyone intruding upon our fight, I'll set up a psychic presence that will ward off others. So, what do you think of my plan? Pretty nice, right?

Felicia and Weavile are both a respectable distance away from Mew now, bowing their heads to them in reverace to them for their kindness. The Legend, though, was irritated by such piousness, and flew over to smack them both on the head, with an unexpected thought accompanying the action: Quit that! I'm not a hoity toity Legendary like Arceas or Reshirim that needs constant praise, or will throw a great big sulk and leave if I don't have followers devoting themselves to me on a daily basis! I'm just like you or any other being in this world, just more powerful by strange designs even I doubt comprehend. So quit it, please!

Looks like Mew had not severed the connection between the two of you just yet. How do you respond to this....oddness?

Reiner sighs.  'Yes, I work for Team Rocket, and my boss no doubt has plans for you should I turn ya in to him.  To be frank, I don't really care for that whole world domination thing.  I'm just looking out for the guys who gave me a chance, that's all.  And if I have a good chance to achieve my own goals, then I'm going to take it.  Team Rocket's done a lot for me, after all.  Though you probably already know all about that now, so I guess I can stop talking about the hows and whys.'

That suggestion was interesting...

'Hmmm...a battle involving all of my pokemon versus you holding back?  An interesting proposition...guess you also picked up how much I value strength and enjoy a good battle, then.  Though I'm sure you also know how difficult it is to command many pokemon at once.  That could still result in an unfair advantage for you.  Unless you have a solution for that too?  Or did I misunderstand something?'

That outburst, though...

'Mew, I'm sure they're just being respectful because the known evidence points to you being the ancestor of...well, every living thing, and they don't wish to disrespect their elders.  If you want to be treated just like any other pokemon though, we can do that.  We don't want to get on your bad side, after all.  Far from it.  We appreciate your understanding, and we'll endeavor to do the same.'

Ooh boy...this was quite the situation Reiner had landed himself in...

Mew gets really close to your face again after your first train of thought departed, tilting their face this way and that as it took another look into your mind, before smiling to themselves. A thought popped into your head, which felt...pleased, for the lack of a better term: A heart neither black nor white, but not quite grey either. Evil is but a force you serve and tool to be used, but you are not without gentleness in your action, nor are you completely merciless to those you challenge. A great passion to fulfill a lofty goal, to repay kindness with kindness, spite with spite... A burdened Dragon, ready to cast of its weights and take to the skies, showing the world its true majesty. Hmm~ , you are very interesting, Reiner _____ (Mew know your character's full name(s), but I don't, so there) , despite you saying otherwise. Maybe that why you could see me. Who knows, though, and I don't really care to the hows of the matter. I enjoy the outcome all the same.

Floating back to a much more comfortable distance, she though over the delimia the Grunt posed to her, before repeating her paw on paw gesture. The solution comes to your mind, with a little 'help' from Mew: I'll set up a Psychic network between you and your Pokémon during the battle, allowing you to communicate with all of them clearly and without confusion nor delay. I won't peek into in, so don't worry about me taking advantage of this boon I offer to you. I want things to be fair between us!...well, as fair as a Legendary going up against regular Pokémon will ever be, really. Better than nothing, though! When you came in to defend your Pokémon's actions, though, something unexpected happens before your eyes: Mew appear quite sad and...troubled.

A oddly quiet though creep up on you, not very cheerful at all: Humanity's research points to that conclusion, yes, but I can never quite believe or stomach such an explanation. Especially since I can't remember whether or not I'm the progenitor of all the common Pokémon on Earth. I'm old, human. Unfathomably old, and my beginnings are so far back and long past that I draw a blank every time I try to piece together what happened in that chaotic time. Perhaps I was but a newborn, and used my powers to bring forth Pokémon on a childish whim. Maybe I had a plan back then, a design of such magnitude and depth that it escapes me to this day, if that is the case. I certainly was not who I am now, or for the past few millennia , though, that is for certain. I don't like thinking I'm the 'Progenitor of Pokemon' or 'The Creationist' , because the fact is that I'm not. The past me was, someone so far removed from who I am now that comparing me to them is just ludicrous, in my opinion. You don't compare an Amnesiac to their former self; it just set bad expectations on them that they can't fulfill .

Mew lets out a tired sigh, with you mimicking them as well. Oh my, the bond between you and the legendary deepens...you are not sure that's a good thing or not in this situation. Quickly though, the divine feline perked back up, not quite as happy as it once was, but no longer depressing you either as a more comfortable inkling comes to you: I understand where yours and theirs thoughts on my status, however, so I won't let my temper lose on you for this. Just treat me like any other Pokémon for now on, ok? I'm just like you, at the very core of things. Don't forget that.

(I actually haven't thought of one yet, nor have I thought of one yet for Nathan in the Skull Ruins campaign.  Hmmm...how does Arendse sound?)

'Of course.  Sorry about the troubling line of thought.  Leaves a bad taste, I guess.  I appreciate the considerations nonetheless, and I'm looking forward to our battle.  Before we part ways for now though, if I may ask...is there any particular reason you're here in Celadon?  Or do you just happen to be here on a whim?'

(Any name you choose is fine with me, mate! Just have something in mind for it, that is all...hehehe)

Mew tilts their head at you again, before a mischevious smile plays out across their face, and you could feel your own lips tugging to mirror that motion. A final thought arises from Mew, before they just....vanish: Why, to cause some mischief, of course! The Flower Festival has always been a great opportunity for fun of all kinds, and my little interactions with your kind is often lost in the revelry and excitement. That, and do I need a reason to be here? I come and go where I please, and absolutely nothing can stop me~

Once they were gone, you were free from your Psychic bind, and you cat thieves come rushing over your side, a bit worried about you being in the presence of their patron 'God' . After all, being connected with such power, however tentatively, has its lasting influence...

Reiner gains 2 XP for successfully navigating his meeting with Mew. What will he do now?
