[Game] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure: Celadon City Vandel
Reiner could feel what they were thinking.  It wasn't reading their minds...but he could feel the emotions perfectly...it was...strange...but at the same time, it helped him figure out exactly what he wanted to say...though he couldn't face the pokemon still while he talked...

"Weavile...I'm sorry I threw ya back into the ring so quickly after getting trounced so thoroughly.  I don't regret the decision, as it ultimately made a huge difference in us getting out of that situation when it turned sour, and I don't know if I would have had enough time to revive you during that mess...but that doesn't mean it was acceptable...I'm sorry..."

"Kingdra...you're still my closest friend.  That will never change.  It might never be as deep an understanding as what I just got from Mew...but I don't want that to get in the way of us...any of us.  You, Weavile, Arbok...we're all still friends here, and nothing is going to change that..."

"Felicia...thank you for following my orders so readily despite your misgivings...if it weren't for you, we might not have been able to do it, you know..."

"Of course, everyone played a vital role in the end.  Arbok, you did an amazing job with intimidating Mew, and helped to sway the long term results easily.  Weavile, were it not for your Taunt, we might have been in loads more trouble.  I realize that it's likely the reason Mew attacked you so viciously...so again, I want to apologize.  And also thank you for the continued effort...you really showed Mew just how strong you are...and the same goes for you, Kingdra..."

With all of that said, Reiner puts 'Skitty' down, reaches into his bag, and pulls out the Great Ball.  He'd have to get some more pokeballs, probably...but for now, it was time to collect the biggest reward of all.

A new friend.

The deed done, Reiner finally turns to look at the pokemon.  He looks...sad.  But only for another moment.  He's quick to put on a small smile.  "Alright, let's get everyone healed up.  We've got another long day tomorrow, and I'm sure everyone is ready to hit the hay.  If we need to discuss anything more, I'm sure we can do it before we doze off.  And privately too, with Mew's help."

Weavile just let out another put upon sigh, before walking over to pat you on the back as a not so subtle way to tell you to cheer up. It was hard for him to just let go of the resentment that suddenly built up between them, particularly because they were Taunted at the time, but he could let bygone be bygones if it means that things don't spoil between the two of them completely. After all, its not like he hadn't put his master through the ringer several dozens of times over the years, eh? Happiness Point regained!

Your dragon practically neighed in relief at you confession to her. Mew might have forge a bond with burning fire , but they have built their's with Reiner's over the course of a lifetime. Even Mew's getting a complete view of those time could not compare to the experience she and her master had shared! Though she wishes certain things didn't happen or turned out differently, like a certain incident in Blackthorn city. Ah, but that was neither there or here now!

Arbok was just plain content for now, having fully sasiated his desire for fear, combat, and self improvement. Eventually, he'll unlock the his most powerful move, then nothing can stop him. Nothing! Hiss!

The Shiny Persain just shrugs at your comments, talking the small praise rather magnanimously , all things considered. "You might be reckless and headstrong at times, but you have a keen mind backing even your most rash of actions. The fact that its been augmented by Mew only makes things better, all things considering. As long as you don't do anything particularly idiotic and honor your promises to me, I'll continue to support you like I have. You are my master, at the end of the day."

Everything said and done, you all make your way to the Pokémon Center, feeling a bit mournful and accomplished at the same time. You wonder if that is how you feel when you finally achieved you long sought revenge....nah.

End of Day Status

Total Money Earned: $4500 Poke
Total Money Spent: $6400 Poke
Total Net Gain/Loss: - $1900 Poke
Money Quota: $200/$20000 Poke
Proton: Currancy has dropped dramatically since Sunday, but they have a wealth of valuable items on hand, so the losses are minimal at best. That, and that Weavile of his could probably rob a bank without casing the joint first.

Pokémon Gained/Stolen:
1. Growlith = Value: 1
2. Doduo    = Vaule: 1
Pokémon Quota: 5/15
Proton: Slow progress on the goal, but at the same time have not drawn undue attention to themselves. No cause of concern here.

...One of the Malcom Duo spotted you last night, but you are not informed about this until the morning by Mew. They know who you are now, and what your capable of. Beware.

Mission Objective #4: Capture Mew of has been completed. Complications, though, due to extreme bond forming between the two. Must inform Boss Giovanni at once: Proton

Mission Objective #5: With Mew and the Balm Mushroom, persuading Erika to...invest in a higher cause is now feasible. This is most excellent progress on their part, but I wonder how the hell they figured out she's a drug addict in the first place? : Proton

Tuesday Morning, Second Day of the Flower Festival

Arboks sheds his skin, netting you another $2500 Poke worth of profit. Cha Ching!

The sun dawns on a wonderful new day, and just as everyone except Mew (who still wants to recover in her Pokeball for the time being) is just about ready and raring to go! When you, Felica, and Weavile enter the lobby of the center, though, a Nurse hurries over to you, and you recognize them as being one of Team Rocket's plants in Celadon City. Stopping just shortly outside a respective distance from you (and plenty far away from either felines from robbing them blind [their reputation purrcedes them!]) , she clear their throat and rely the message they have for you : "Boss wishes to speak with you, Reiner. Effective immediantly. He's already reserved a private Conference both for the conversation to take place, so there is no need for delay on your or his part. I suggest getting a move on, before he starts getting...moody."
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

You are escorted to the private teleconference room, which is a rather spacious place for a Pokémon Center to have since it doesn't receive regular use much. Then again, they are a Pokémon Center, and don't have to worry about silly things like 'Cost and Upkeep' , when the League foots the tab like its no big deal! Of course, all of this is the farthest thing from your mind when you take a seat in one of the extremely comfortable chairs - egad, it was like the apolstry was trying to devouring you!- and wait for the holographic projector kicks to life.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) , it comes on only a scant few minutes after you arrived, showing your Boss sitting up ram rod straight in his desk, with a look of bemusement on his face. "Reiner Arendse. I have been informed that you have succeeded in capturing Mew, so congradulations are in order! I would have though you would have completed the 'easier' objective I gave you first, but no, that was far to....beneath your caliber. So on the first day you go and capture Mew, all without nary a hitch or cause of panic. You are well on your way to becoming my right hand man, if you continue this tread of high quality, efficient, and swift performance. However, there is something that....concerns me."

Giovanni face become stone cold fast . Uh oh, looks like he's getting serious, judging how those eyes of his are boring into your pretty blue one. "One of my....officers that I assigned to watch over your Test reported something that caused me pause for concern. Namely, your capture of Mew was proceeded, facilitated the formation of, and solidified a nearly unbreakable bond between the two of you. Am I incorrect, Reiner." It doesn't sound like a question to you; its more like him wanting to hear your account of things, before he passed judgement. Hope you got a story to tell, because he doesn't look to happy right now...

Reiner has to rub his temples for a moment in thought...of course...Mew's psychic ward must have dropped when she fainted...that would be how they knew...welp, time to be bluntly honest...

"No, you're not wrong.  There's something...strange about it.  Like I was naturally attracted to the legendary or something.  I don't think I would have found her so quickly otherwise.  And then there was what only amplified the effects...namely, the psychic connection Mew established with me to communicate.  And then subsequently with my pokemon so I could use 4 of them at the same time to do battle with her.

"As you're familiar with already, I don't like mistreating my pokemon, nor treating them only as tools.  And knowing Mew has likely been the subject of many hunts for it for varying reasons, I decided I would try a friendly approach and try to convince it to join.  Well, that sort of worked.  She appreciated the kindness and the chatter both, but she didn't appreciate the main reason I was seeking her out.  Since I was so nice though and had piqued her interest, she decided to give me a chance, and determine her fate through a fair battle.  If she won, she'd go free.  If I won, she'd come with me.  The battle was fierce since even holding back, Mew knew what she was doing, and I had only a slight upper hand since Mew had made it possible for me to attack her with 4 pokemon at the same time, allowing for strategies most trainers would only dream of being able to achieve.

"But then something changed.  When I ordered Felicia, the shiny Persian I'm sure you've heard so much about already, to use Hypnosis on Mew, something went wrong.  Being forcefully put to sleep awakened a primal power in Mew.  One she hadn't used in thousands and thousands of years...one she couldn't fully control, and had been attempting to keep buried with good reason.  At that point, the already established psychic connection between me and Mew was...ripe with energy.  That's probably the best I'd be able to describe it as.  The things I saw...they were beyond mortal comprehension...they were Mew's memories, and there is no way I would be able to describe any of them.  The glimpses were fleeting, and the concepts complex...that's besides the point, though.  The point is, it was overwhelming.  It was either KO Mew right then, or pay the consequences of Mew going berserk from the sudden rush of power.  Weavile did an excellent job cleaning up that battle along with the other pokemon.  Upon being KOed, the primal energy faded, as did all of the psychic connections Mew had established.  Except in their place, there was a strong, irresistible feeling that Mew was now my pokemon, in addition to all the emotions I had experienced in the midst of Mew's memories.

"But that brings us to another problem...Mew has informed me that she is not as powerful now, and won't be at her full strength for a long time because of how sudden the gain and loss of that full strength was.  She only has access to the moves she'd been intending to use against me in that battle, and her Synchronize ability is only half as powerful as it was when she demonstrated its full effects to me.  In her current state, I don't think she'd be strong enough for what the team would be aiming to use her for.  While the goal of acquiring Mew was successful, I'm sorry to report that it likely ended in a partial failure.

"However, there's a silver lining, however thin it is.  I've felt rather...strange since that encounter.  Not just emotionally.  I'm now able to perfectly read the emotions of those around me to a degree.  I didn't think much of it at first, but found it stranger when it wasn't just my own pokemon I could sense the emotions of, even if the effects weren't as strong.  I asked Mew about it, and she thinks it has something to do with the explosion of energy that had leaked into the psychic connection between us.  It was enough energy to melt a normal human's mind completely, according to her.  And yet here I am.  Able to directly converse with Mew with her telepathy, rather than just 'speak' with her when she echoes what she wants to say in my own thoughts.  There might be other beneficial side effects as well.  Mew believes I might be able to command many pokemon at the same time without too much trouble without needing her aid, for instance.  It could very well ease the completion of further missions.  On top of that, I now have the willing aid of Mew herself.  Even if she's not as strong as she could be, she is still at least more powerful than the average pokemon, and should prove rather useful for my missions.  I do not know if she would be willing to listen to any trainer in our ranks other than me, either."

That...was a lot to say...and a lot to digest...even though he'd experienced it himself, he still couldn't fully believe it.  It seemed like something from a dream, after all...

Giovanni was silent as you said you story, growing more and more interested in what you had to say, especially when you went into detail about her Memories of Creation; he leaned up out of his chair at that bit of info. He swiftly sat back down, though, and frowned thoughtfully when you declared that your mission, while technically being complete, ended in failing the spirit of its intension: acquiring the power for Team Rocket's use. Finally, as you gave a brief analysis of your own brand new powers and the complete loyalty of Mew to you, the Boss eyes widened almost imperceptively, and his hands clench together hard enough you could see the veins in them. That got their attention, loud and clear.

Silence. Dead Silence. It dragged and lingered between the two of you, and just as it seemed like Giovanni was just planning the most creative way to strangle you to death, he let out a sigh: disappointed, but not furious or diabolical like you expected. Re-adjusting themselves in their chair properly, they looked at you appraisingly for a moment, before they spoke at length about the information you told him. "....Ultimately, while Mew has been rendered functionally useless for what her intended purpose and design was in my organization, you still fulfilled the mission I sent you on. Since I never specified as to how to capture and treat the target, I suppose its my fault for this mess that has formed from this...let's call it their Primal Episode, just for simplicity's sake. I'm displeased by this turn of events, to say the least, but I will not punish you for doing what I poorly command you to do. "

"However, there is another benefit to this situation I never thought I would have access to, at least not for decades in the future: A Chosen One. I don't believe you are familiar with the concept, so let me enlighten you. A Chosen One is Pokémon, or sometimes more rarely a human, that has been singled out by any of the known Legendaries in existence for one reason or another. Be it their accomplishments, how devout they been to their creed, or and irresitable attractions between the two, a Legendary bestows upon them great power in exchange for their service. Often their powers mirror that of their 'Patron Diety' , and as they grow more experience and develop that special bond, those traits grow ever stronger, resulting in a being able to wield the full might of the Legendary. Some become Arbitors of theirs , meeking out judgement in there place or making decrees with the interest in mind. Other become their Head Priest, spreading its Legend's influence throughout the land to draw as many people to it as possible. Finally, other act as their Intermediaries, taking their place in conflicts of interest, and just being entrusted to carry out their will unto the world."

"What you described happened to you, and to your impromptu bond with Mew, sounds like a classic case of a Blessing to me. What is strange, though, is that rather than being given to you by her, you somehow managed to take it without implicit permission, terms, or even the knowledge that such a monumentous event was transpiring. If I were to make a simple guess, your  strength of will or some inner force within you somehow not only buffered the overflow of Mew's Primal Power to you, but actively facilitated the control of it. If this is true, then you quite literally forced a reversal of the Chosen One status: you choose Mew as your Pokémon, and rewarded them by stemming the outflow of power with your own, and offering them want they truly wanted. As a result of that and the prior bond of camraderance, it was all but inevitable that you would end up together as Partners, rather then unequals. In all the history of the world, this is utterly unprecedented! The fact that you were able to so easily wield the Power of Creation, even if it was but for a moment, while Mew was unable too...hehehe. Perhaps your bond with them will serve Team Rocket more good than harm in the long run. And this is on top of your powers to telepathically command an army of Pokémon! I was right about you...you have so much untapped potential, just waiting to be put to good use."

A deep, booming chuckle resonated between the connection, causing the Boss imagine to flicker wildly for a bit, before it restablized into a crisp picture once more. "As such, I believe you deserve several rewards for this fine accomplishment of yours. I'm sending you one of my personally trained Rhydon as additional support on your missions, and I'll entertain one request from you right now. I have all afternoon free, so please, take your time thinking what you truly desire..."

Chosen One...that had an ominous ring to it...but more ominous was Giovanni's emphasis on 'put to good use'...he could think on that later, though.  There was still one thing to report that Team Rocket's shadows hadn't noticed...

"Ahem...there is ONE other thing I should probably mention before signing off for the time being.  Mew also informed me that one of the Malcolms spotted me last night, and that they're aware of at least a little of what I'm capable of now as a result.  I don't know to what extent, but they likely at least know of my ability to use Mega Evolution, and I doubt they're aware of the more...exotic developments.  While I don't imagine it will pose too much of a problem, it might make things a little more difficult if they cotton on to my intent to track them down.  I'll attempt to remain discreet, of course.  With Mew's assistance, tracking them down might even be a little easier."

The moment the name 'Malcolm' exist your lips, Giovanni's expression sours, like you called his mother fat, stupid, and ugly in front of their face, and you get the uncanny feeling that someone was going to get 'fired' today over this. "Yes, the Night Terror makes the habit of patrol at night when my organization is afoot. If you attracted their attention, you are most likely going to face them soon enough. They don't often delay confrontation with my Rockets unless there is something else that is dividing their attention, but that is a non-possibility at this point. The Night Terror is coming for you, so prepare to gut that bastard and string his entrail like Christmas lights, before crafting his skull as my personal cup. I want him dead, Reiner, so please don't fail to meet my expectations in this regard."

Giovanni cuts the connection between the two of you at that moment, and a few moments later that Nurse from earlier came in, carrying a Ultra Ball on a purple satin pillow. Bowing to you, they placed it gently in front of you, before immediantly scurrying off. This must be the Rhydon the Boss sent to protect you. You check the ball's holographic display, seeing what moves, abilities, and Suprises it has.

Rhydon is essentially a free Battler provided by Giovanni, so choose 4 your 4 moves, the ability, and this time a Surprise. It start with 0 Happiness and 5 Loyalty.

You also gain 1 Giovanni's Favor, to cash in whenever you like. No matter where Reiner is, if he spends it, he'll soon be given exactly what he wants...

As Reiner got ready to end the call, there was a thought at the back of his mind...wasn't he forgetting something? Oh, right, the Merchant. He hadn't informed Giovanni about their presence in the city yet, and there was no way the shadows would have picked up on their location...hmmm...wait...was that Body Armor the Merchant had all that much different from a Protector? Same basic purpose, right? He didn't have enough cash on hand right now to pick one up, but Giovanni probably did...and if the Malcolms were as dangerous as everyone said they were, an extra burly Rhyperior that he didn't have the previous night might be a good plan...

"Since the Malcolms seem to be so dangerous, and potentially after me now, I'd say one more precaution might need to be made, boss. There's a Merchant that's been hanging around the city's alleys since the Festival started. They deal in everything from information to rare and illegal items, provided you can pay for it, of course. Of particular note currently is they have a set of Heavy Duty Body Armor. Which from what I can gather, isn't too functionally different from a Protector. The catch is it costs $15,000. The steep price might well be worth it, but having to stock up on items for battling Mew last night has left me a bit short on funds for it currently. And considering the situation, the sooner I get that armor, the better. Having a burly Rhyperior would be most welcoming, particularly since I didn't have one last night and the Malcolms probably won't be expecting it."

(Gonna have to put leaving the Center on hold until this is accounted for!)

Giovanni almost did a double take when you brought up the Merchant, looking somewhat surprised; a very seldom state for the boss to be in, before it transitioned into grumpy annoyance, yet another rare sight to see. "The Merchant is in my city?  No wonder Team Rocket's Contraband Sales halved been slashed in half ever since the Flower Festival started.....and they are selling equipment that I struggle to obtain for a premium price at a third of the cost on top of that. *Sigh* Great. If I had known they started planting roots here, I would have sent my Executives to kindly tell them to look for Grassier Terrain, but its a pointless task by now. They are entrenched, and it would take the National Guard arriving on scene to drive them out for good, and that might not be a certaintity. I can't fault how effective and lucrative their Network is, but....*grrrr*"

Your boss pinches his brow in frustration, before letting out another sigh and looking tiredly at you once more. "By all mean, though, avail yourself of their services. Despite my....resentment of them introducing competition in Celadon, they do sell quality goods that no one else does, or can for that matter. Though, when you meet up with them again, do tell them to start getting in touch with me. If I am forced to share this city with another criminal interprese , I need to get started on arranging business deals, trade agreements, separate districts of sale..... Here I thought that the Flower Festival was going to be a holiday for me.... *Grumbles* I'll foot the cost for that Heavy Duty Body Armor you desire to test out in exchange for my favor. I'm intrigued to see where this leads myself, so I'll ship it with the Rhydon so that we may both observe its effects, if any, it has on their evolution."

The Boss got off from their desk chair and walked off screen of the camera, and you could here the distinct sound of another telephone line being opened. A moment later, you heard the Merchant's shouting in the background "Hellu, STRANGA, this is tha Merchant yue be speeking tu. Whet biz du yue heve with me? Boyin, sellin. tredin? Speek op nuw, befere I heng op end bluck this nomba!" An unhappy sigh resound throughout the office as Giovanni request your prize, and after some muttering between the two parties, you heard the strange sales person holler "Thenks fer tha biz, Mob Boss! Tell yuer grunt Ai seid hi, end tu stup mure often. Bye!" and the line going *click!* The boss returned to his set moments later, his composure back again once more, only this time with notable veins pulsing on his forehead.

10 Minutes passed, and Nurse once again returns, this time carrying a miniature trade machine (The wonders of technology!) and the Heavy Plate  in question; when they dropped it off on the table, you could swear you heard the aluminum legs on that side starting to buckle! Quickly, you snatched Rhydon's Pokeball and pressed the button against the armor, immediantly digitizing and transferring it to the rocky beast as a Hold Item. A Wide Lens re materialized on the desk, which you were equally quick to snatch up as well. Looks like the boss was rather thoughtful in regard's to the beast Accuracy problems...

With both you and your boss eager (in their own ways) to see what the heck happens, you run the Ultra Ball through the machine....and the ball starts to shake wildly the moment the process finishes. *Poing!* It bounced right off the table, landing right smack dab in front of you, releasing your newest addition to your team in a blinding, shifting light! Rhyperior!......wait, hold on, this isn't a Rhyperior. Its a whole other monster, and as you crane your neck up to get a good look at the towering giant (You didn't notice the dumbfounded look on your Boss's face, sadly), you have a sudden appreciation that this Kajui is on your side.

At first glance, the beast body looked vaguely similar to a Rhyperior's, but that ended with the main colour coordination on its body: Light Timberwolf Skin, and Bright Steel Plating. Its arms looked far more precisely designed than Rhydon's normal evolution, looking like they had been fashioned in a factory than rather than naturally evolved. The Protector Plates on its body, instend of being interconnected slab of Rock, were now seemless, thick layers of Steel plating, enveloped the Kajui's body like a suit of armor. Strangest of all was its head. It main horn was now far larger, stretching a little under a foot in length from its skull, and it sat on 90 degree angle from the crown of its skull. The other horn was situated at the back of its skull rather than pair up in the front with the other one, and it was far stumper that the former protrusion. Finally, their was this interlocking helmet design ( Bi-vertical halves that connect together to form a helmet like this one ) that encased its head, which suddenly split apart to reveal the smooth ash, grey eyed face of this new branch evolution. It craned its neck up into the air, and shouted its name for all to hear! :

"Rhyxemplar!"

Custom Evolution: Rhyxemplar

Type: Steel/Ground
Ability: Aegis Ferrum
Raise Defense by 2, in addition to halving all damage dice dealt to it. Lethal Damage from moves is then subjected to a - 1 Damage Penalty, on top type resistence and the additional benefits of this ability.
New Move(s):
Stone Edge replaced with Iron Tail, and Rock Blast with Gear Grind EX (2-5 Hits instead of 2). Smart Strike replaces Horn Attack as base move, and Rock Wreck has been converted into Ball Bearing Blaster, its Steel type equivolant.
Disobedience: 3

Pokedex Entry:
Rhyxemplar, the Vanguard Pokémon. A recently discovered offshoot of the Rhydon line, this creature boast a notiably less aggressive demeanor than its previous and alternate evolution. In exchange, however, it is EXTREMELY overprotectively of its ward/trainer/king , and will zealously fend off all many of threats against them, both real and ill preconcienved . The perfect bodyguard, its can with standard a Focus Punch from Mega Heracross without being phased; only Mega Aggron is consider to be by many to be the ultimate tank.

".....Perhap business with the Merchant will be more amenable than I first thought," Giovanni quietly says, before hanging up on you.

How do you react?
