[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

Theo: (3) + 3 dex + 3 survival = 9
Exeggcute: (2) +2 Dex + 2 Survival = 6

Fury Cutter in this game just means you can take all your multiple actions at once. It will be excellent when you have a larger dice pool, combined with your high Survival. You can get the drop on a Pokemon and hit them 3 times before they have time to react!

Right now, you could use it twice at 2 dice and 1 dice, but with your Razor Claw (and the way you worded your post) I'd say one attack is better/more like what you had in mind. But feel free to try it the other way in future battles, especially as you level up.

Exeggcute Round 1

Fury Cutter
(5)(1)(3)(2) Hit
3 Str +1 power -2 vit = 2 dice
(5)(5) Exeggcute takes 2 dmg 3/5hp.

Barrage
2 Dex + 3 Fight + 3 Canalize -1 acc -3 actions = 4 dice, -1 pain = 3 dice
(5)(5)(2) Hit
2 Str + 1 power -2 vit = 1d6-1, this move cannot hurt Theo

Exeggcute Round 2

Fury Cutter
(3)(5)(5)(2)
(1)(5) Exeggcute takes 1 dmg 2/6hp -2 pain

Exeggcute reconsiders, and happens upon an attack that might deal damage.

Leech Seed
2 Dex + 3 Fight + 3 canalize -2 pain = 6 dice
(5)(1)(4)(1)(4)(4)
Theo was seeded! He becomes studded with little sprouts, growing as fast as they can on his life force.

(1) No damage.

Exeggcute Round 3

Fury Cutter
(5)(3)(6)(3) hit
(6)(6) Exeggcute faints!

Valder dusts the seeds off of his Pokemon after recalling him.

Theo gains 3XP. Valder gains 2Xp.

Lucky Chant
(6)(3)(1)(2)(5)(1) Success

Agree that physical contact + Telepathy is a good combination. Telepathy does say it's one way, but the fact is the two characters can now communicate better.

Ventus' Insight:
(5)(5)(4)(6)

Wobbuffet's Will:
6 Will, -1 for contact
(5)(2)(5)(3)(1)

Ventus receives a message clearly meaning "help? Help impossible?"

Ventus shakes his head at Wobbuffet, looking chastised and mournful for saying as much to them. Still, it was better to be blunt with the truth, and then help ease them through the horrid realization "....Unfortunately, in this circumstance, yes. Its a remote possibility that you will likely ever see your parents again, and if you did, it would likely be while they are under the command of the trainers that caught them. Given your species' rarity, you would most likely be captured, permenantly separated from them once more, and sold to the highest bidder. Whether your new master would be kind or not....I can not say," they said, lightly gripping the blue creature's hand as a wave of depression settled on his mind. He despises having to tell them the truth, since HE lost his own parents as well as at tender age, and was highly reluctant to do this to them. 'Is it any better to lie to them, and give them false hope and expectation that will never be fulfilled? No. No it is not,' he thought, rationalizing his choice to himself.

Still, he lets out a small sigh to themselves, quiet enough that only the Psychic Pokémon could possibly see it, and tried his best to soften the blow of his words. "Little one...I know exactly where you are coming from. My....my own parent were taken from me when I was young, and I had to grow up and learn to survive all by myself. It was not a completely terrible experience....but it was unforgiving. Harsh. And most critically...lonely. I was...all alone for most of my life, until I made friends when I was fully grown. No one to depend on, no one to share my good and bad times with, no one that could understand what I was going through. For me...that was the most cruel part of my orphanment. I wouldn't wish it on my worst of enemies that fate, to be berefit of family, friends, and any form of support. I don't want you to suffer that fate, little one," Ventus quietly said, tears threating to spill from his eyes, but he kept them in check. He had to be strong, for both him and the young Wobbuffet. They needed someone to rely on, and he hopes that he could be that figure.

"Wobbuffet...you don't have to be alone out here. You can come with me, instead. I promise that I will take care of you, like a member of my own family, and make sure you supported and your needs nurtured. I'll be there for you, through good time and bad, bountiful and scarce, easy and tough. I'm here for you, little one. I'll be here for you, no matter what..." the empath said, before opening himself up into what looks to be a hug; a vulnerable postion for him to be in, but one that conveyed utmost trust in the Pokémon before him. What they choose to do is ultimately up to them.

The chanting of Braixen echoed a little in the surrounding, it clearly eased the nerves of Shiva, but seemingly not Wobbuffet's. Nevermind, she loved her magical fox chanting nevertheless and enjoyed the thought of being protected by the - currently not visible - stars above.

Both she and Braixen watched as Ventus approached young Wobbuffet and spoke to it in calm words. Every words he said pained her... It was the painful truth. No peaceful dream world, no holy land that could soothe the mind, insetad the harsh and bare truth... But it was necessary. The hope to be reunited with its family was, this one time, gone alongside the Trainers.

In fact, hearing about Ven's backstory, how he had to manage things on his own, how he had to watch loosing his family and failing to keep them from dy...leaving, brought memories back. Memories how he told her the story earlier, the song lyrics and how damn lonely he must have been all the time... If it was true what he told her yesterday about he being worried - afraid? - of her fondness for magical and fae but nevertheless seeking her closeness and 'never wanting to be without her friendship'... She and her support really must mean A LOT to him. The strong sadness, emptiness, pain she was picking up from Ven in this situation were real.

Additionally, she herself could be glad and thankfull that she has a secure lovely home and parents that would await her with open arms there in Castelia. It mean more than the eye could see.

It was just too much for her now. Shiva failed spectacularily to hold tears back any longer, but she did her best to whipe them off as soon as they fell.

Insight: (4)(2)(4)(4) Success. In this case no opposed roll is needed, only success.

Wobbuffet agrees to come with Ventus, sensing the layer of good in his heart. He sends the image of himself following Ventus. He doesn't really understand what a Pokeball does, but he will figure it out soon enough with no issues.

Ventus gains 2 Xp. Shiva gains 1 XP and Braixen gains 1Xp.

As the timelines converge, Kirlia picks a fluffy white flower (maybe something like a dandelion gone to seed) and gives it to Nathan. Nathan is sure this is a meaningful reminder of some kind, or some attempt to cheer him up.

The empath's heart finally calmed down when the little one accepted his offer. Slowly, so as to not startle them, Ventus enveloped them into a soft hug, overjoyed that everything worked out without violence or conflict, in the end. "Thank you, little one. Thank you for trusting me. I promise I will never betray it, and stake my life for yours. Now, I can't keep calling you Wobbuffet or little one, since you are now a part of my family. Each and every member has a name, and you shall be no exception. Hmm...how about Abaddon? Its a little on the nose, but you do have the power to remove those that oppose you, and you are quite the powerful threat as well! What do you think, my child?" the researcher said, paying no mind to his friend for the time being. If they want to talk with them about something, they would have to get their attention directly, rather than waiting of soliciting it politely.

(Stats and everything else for them? They were marked as a special encounter, after all! Also, he's going to use a Pokeball for this capture. No need to devate from the norm, eh?)

Nathan's glad to have Kirlia's support, but he's still feeling a little bummed out.  He was also still feeling pretty tired since he'd pushed himself a lot in the time he'd spent training with his pokemon (Ventus might catch on to a little bit of how tired Nathan is, but not the full extent since Nathan's still trying to hide it from him).  He sits down at the agreed meeting place to rest for a few more minutes, and looks deep in thought...rather glum thought, but thought nonetheless.

He's not entirely sure what to do next...something would come to him eventually, though...

(Gonna wait and see what everyone else decides to do first before choosing what to do next.  Though something could also throw itself at Nathan before he decides...be it from Kirlia, the party, or something or someone else entirely...)

Wobbuffet has all his 0 level moves (which is all his moves) and his hidden ability, Telepathy! He's not undersized because he will quickly gain adult size. He's male.

Abaddon immediately releases itself from the Pokeball and makes a cringing screech. It wobbles off to a small cave and hides its black tail, until Ventus calms it again. Then it lets itself back into the Pokeball, then out again, seeming quite interested in this transformation.

While it's out, it keeps its tail tucked under its legs, hidden away, even though this means it sometimes trips.

Is the party ready to move on, or should I roll to see which Encounters run away?

Ventus' phone rings twice, then goes silent before he can answer it.

Then it rings again while he's trying to remember how to view the caller ID of a missed call, so he snaps it open.

It's a rare call from Sinnoh! He hears Cynthia's voice, but it's way too staticky to understand anything she's saying, except the word "Togekiss.....hear me?...<profanity>....text...."

Oh well.

But an hour later a text comes through for Ventus with a tip from Cynthia on raising Togekiss. First she congratulates you on your new evolve. Then she praises the configuration of satellites over Sinnoh right now; says they rarely can get service to distant regions. Then she gets to the tip: it's possible to train a Togekiss to be a little lighter in the air, with a little bit of 'powdered happiness' mixed into its food. An example is the powdered horn of a Corsola shed! It doesn't even take an entire shed, just a pinch.

(Ventus will still pay the cost we discussed).
