[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
The backpack is stuffed full of Pokeballs!

You also find a wallet inside, which includes a Trainer Card ("Flick Rassan"), an Elanor Town address, a phone number, and $900.

Contents: 6x Pokeball, 2x Great Ball, 1x Flash Ball, 1x Ultra Ball! They're all empty (most trainers keep their Pokemon on their belts).

Honey Tree

(4)+(3) = 7, average. (2 and 12 being rare)

You attract a male Combee. It is too busy gathering the Honey to notice you so far.

Braixen is up for a training roll.

Ventus' Insight 4 + Fight 2 + Empathy 0
(6)(2)(6)(4)(5)(2) - 4 bonus XP, as Braixen quickly soars ahead of the other students under Ventus' tutelage.

His lessons went over as he expected for initiates to the practice, but he was quick to notice that Braixen excelled in his teaching, already finding some measure of peace just starting out. 'Perhaps their latent psychic powers were stirred by him focusing and increasing his mental acuity? Or perhaps his magical nature 'assisted' him in assimilating my technique far more expediently than the rest. No matter, in the end, though: they got more out of the lesson than anyone else, and deserve to be rewarded,' Ventus though, before going over to the young fire fox and patting them on the head for the excellent job, before handing them an apple from their bag!

"Here you go, Braixen. A reward for finding peace of mind so soon after learning my teachings. Continue to excel I this practice of mine, and their are similar treats in store for you in the future!" he said, before walking over to Shiva to retrieve Raphael from them. They seemed to have learned quite a lot as well from her tutulege, so both trainers ended off just as well as the other. Excellent! The empath , mindful of Nathan fell mood at the moment, decided to leave him alone for the time being, and journied with Shiva into the interior of Fireweed Forest. With his years of field research and Pokémon Behavioral studies, Ventus was quickly to spot a Honey Tree that, when slathered with the appropreiate substance, would lure any type of rare or odd Pokémon. Bidding his friend good bye for the moment, the researcher eager approached the tree and began the task of attracting a specimen to it!

Order: Time to check out that Honey Tree, and see what it gives all of us! Let us see how everything plays out, hehehe...

Seeing that he attracted a buzzing bee Pokémon to his tree, frowned to himself, not thrilled with what he acquired, before he shook his head and called Abaddon to his side, who was currently exploring the autum environment of Fireweed Forest. He been here once or twice with his parent while they were out foraging, but he never really got the chance to look around the place for himself... The blue demon was quick to respond to Ventus voice, though, and huddled its way over towards them, sending a signal of curiosity. Their master point at the Combee, and with a kind but firm voice, commanded them to : "Abaddon, stealthy Strike that Combee while its distracted, then get ready to use Mirror Coat. If it decides to use physical attacks first, dodge instead and then start using Counter instead. If they try to switch up move to throw you off, just dodge the move you can't reflect the damage back at them. This is your first battle, and I want to see just what you are capable of, my child."

Order: Stealth/Ambush Strike on Combee first, then have it ready up a Mirror Coat. If they use Bug Bite or Strike themselves, Wobbuffet will dodge instead of using Mirror Coat, and start using Counter once per round after the initial one has passed. If Combee varies its attacks, though, Wobbuffet will instead elect to dodge instead of using Counter if they would be unable to reflect the damage. Trail run of Abaddon the destroyer, begin!

Combee: (4) + 2 Dex + 3 Survival = 9
Wobbuffet: (2) + 5 = 7

Wobbuffet Fights A Bee Round 0

Stealth: 2 Dex + 3 survival = 5 dice
(3)(1)(3)(6)(4) 2 success
Alert: 2 Dex + 1 Insight + 1 alert = 4 dice
(2)(5)(3)(3) 1 success

Strike
2 Dex + 2 Fight +2 brawl = 6 dice
(3)(4)(5)(4) Hit
Wobbuffet sneaks up on Combee while it's eating honey. He manages to suppress his habitual grumbling until right before attacking with clumsy hands, whereupon he lets out a loud noise best described as "mWrahhgh!"
2 Str + 1 power -1 vit = 2 dice
(5)(6) Combee takes 2 dmg 2/4hp -1 pain

Wobbuffet Fights A Bee Round 1

Sweet Scent
2 Dex + 3 Survival + 2 Nature = 7 dice -1
(4)(4)(6)(1)(3)(1) = 2 successes

Evasion
2 Dex + 2 fight + 0 evasion = 4 dice
(5)(3)(3)(3)

Wobbuffet's Evasion -1

Chance: (5) No wild Pokemon were attracted.

Wobbuffet Fights A Bee Round 2

D'oh, I'd been thinking Counter/Mirror Coat prevented damage instead of just multiplying it! I blame the anime. Also interesting that it doesn't have decreased priority.

Bug Buzz
2 Dex + 1 Fight + 1 Canalize = 4 dice-1 pain
(5)(5)(4)
Evasion: (6)(6)(5)

Combee begins buzzing his wings together. Wobbuffet hates this noise! Time to complain to his new friend.
"mmmmmmmmrrrRRRRRRRRRRR!"

The noise drowns out the bee's attack, and Ventus has to work hard to get Wobbuffet's attention again for the next round's orders.

Wobbuffet Fights A Bee Round 3

Wobbuffet is pretty much trapped in a loop of evasion. Any new orders?

*pokeball-sound* Valder sent out Froakie and Ghastly for daily training. Yes, I'd like a training session.

Ventus, cringing at the familiar noise of the move (Togepi has used it so long long ago....), but his focus zeroed in on Abaddon when they started to complain about Big Buzz themselves! Shaking his head, they calmly ordered them too: "If you anticipate that they will use Big Buzz again, use Mirror Coat. Otherwise, use Strike again to further weaken them. You can endure a few blows from them, so do your best to halt them!"

Order: They will use Mirror Coat if you use Big Buzz or Gust once per round, or will instead use Strike if they try to get cheeky and use Bug Bite/Strike instead. Give me back control if they end up at - 2 Pain or less, as I have plans for that situation.

Wobbuffet Fights A Bee Round 3

Gust
Just two dice.
(6)(4)
1 Str + 2 power +1 STAB -4 vit = 1 dice min
(3)

This is actually a really interesting test case! The way it's worded, Mirror Coat still works if the attack hits and does no damage (same is true in the games, I believe).

Mirror Coat
(3)(3)(1)(2)(2)(4) Hit
(3)(4)(6) Combee takes 2 dmg and faints.

The ACTUAL initiative order worked much more in your favor than the one that somehow got in my brain!

Combee begins fleeing! He's faster than Wobbuffet...Wobbuffet will likely only get one more move.

(Iron, Combee goes first in the new round, so it has a chance to attack first before it has a chance to run.)
