[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(09-01-2017, 04:00 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Hey Iron, quick question: Do power moves and Spore and Powder moves (Like Poison Powder, Burn Powder, Rage Power etc.) work on Grass types? I don't recall it being mentioned in the corebook, but you might have your own rules regarding this...

I found it to be strange 50-50 in the core book, actually.  They made Grass types immune to sleep outright because the most common sleep inflicting moves used are Sleep Powder and Spore :/

But there's no other mentions in the book of their immunity to Powder based moves like in the games.

I personally prefer sticking with the games' implementation on that, tbh.  Making grass types immune to sleep is a little silly when nothing is immune to Hypnosis and Dark Void without an ability, and it would also mean Grass types would be unable to use Rest.

So uh, can I ask a little resume about the actual events about what is happening in the roleplay? No all the facts, just a few to be not much confuse or lost?

Currently:

-Nathan is ticked off with Ventus.  More than ever before, because it's about an issue that exclusively involves him, Kirlia, and the scarred Absol.  He's spent the day training for the Running, which is tomorrow.  He and Kirlia are fairly likely to remain a little cross with Ventus for at least a little while as well.

-Ventus is avoiding both Shiva and Nathan, not wanting to deal with either of them since neither are likely to be happy with him.  He's also spent the day training, but it was more combat oriented.

-Shiva is currently at the daycare after not being able to find Ventus to try and talk some sense into him.  She's taking care of some personal business there, and then is going to be conversing with Mallorn along with Nathan

-Valder is...somewhere.  Nylon isn't quite as active as the rest of us, particularly in the more freeform town encounters.

The Running is tomorrow, and hopefully Nathan is going to get himself a very special Absol, and hopefully without things exploding in his face because of either bad luck or interference from Ventus.

We'll stick with Corebook rules on this one.

So Grass types are immune to Sleep Status by default (Like Poison and Steel types immunity to Poison, Fire type's immunity to Burn, and Electric's immunity to Paralysis), but can still be nailed with Stun Spore and other Powder moves? Welp, looks like Breloom has a whole new class of counters now, but he ain't giving up without one heck of a fight!

@Spiritmon I think I can introduce your character as soon as the others meet up with Professor Mallorn. I'll tag you in a post when that occurs - should be soon! Possibly tonight or tomorrow.

The story so far:
-The party met up in Trillium Town, except they met Valder right here in Ginger Town as a mercenary.
-So far, the party has challenged two gyms in four towns.
-They've encountered an enemy team called the Scimitars, who often do not use Pokemon but instead the strange magic of their gauntlets. Creshire natives insist magic is not real.
-Scimitars come in two varieties (Water and Earth) and have lots of resources and technology
-Recently plundered a Scimitar base in Wineberry Town
-They are back in Ginger Town, which has a gym. Gym badges give stat boosts.
-Ginger Town hosts two big events per year: the Spring Festival (which is over) and the Running, which is like the Running of the Bulls. Pokemon come down from the mountains and race through the streets. You can participate; you can even sign up to run for charity.

They've encountered a few memorable things:
-strange Deyo flowers that only grow near craters
-Delta Houndour, who are Psychic/Fire type and run through dreams
-lots of references to the Skull Ruins, the haunted remains of ancient King Sarimanok's palace.

Ventus' response to that: No, nada, nope, nah, denied and noooooooooooooooooooo. Make light of magic around Ventus at your own risk, or face the consequence, @Spiritmon ! Ven HATES wizard/magical things of all kinds, so if ye be a mage, keep it to yourself!

Player characters can't be mages. They can be charlatans, though!
