"I will not interfere. Just want to watch the battle. And that guy....he looks he can takecare in his own."

Whoahw... She expected a joyful respone, but this was hard to top. That hug he gave her was almost dripping with care and joy, it was sweeter than the sprinkes on the hot chocolate, comfy - green tweed was STILL enjoyable to touch, it likely will ever be - and kinda reminded her on that Dazzling-Gleam-Styled smile he gave her not that long ago. ...and immediately she was the one to feel shy and coy, blush was incoming as well. Luckily he couldn't see this though, as well as she could only imagine the width and joy of the smile that probably accompanied this hug. She wasn't used that someone came that close to her that fast, but since it was a familiar person and meant in good manners, Shiva soon...carefully...leaned into his hug.

"I...may be a full fledged Breeder, but only in theory... By far no true master yet... But, I'll look into becoming one of that tier given enough time. Al-right? Hmmm..." Couldn't help but to slightly nuzzle him. "*cough* Not too curious. Eh, that one question concerned the Breeding of Hidden Power...Grass, if I'm not mistaken. That's a branch in Breeding that my father declined to teach me more about before I have finished journey through Chreshire, so... Nevermind though!~"

Rather carefully, she distangled herself from the researcher then and took seat at the table again, before accepting back her Breeder's Lisence and packed it away somewhere safe - which was right beside her Trainer's Card - and taking a deep breath as welll as a sip of her beverage to calm her senses, before hearing out what he had to say concerning the offer to meet her father on screen. "Ven, nope, of course not right away, and of course not now ! I doubt he's even available at this time of the day, the best chances to have him accept calls that don't have to do with business is evening anyway. It's some sort of gamble when the connection to Unova is strong and stable enough to actually connect and allow a call, but I'll keep this in mind, okay? As for Nathan... Well... Uhm... that Absol was guiding him directly through the pasture of it and kinda scared Nightshade by doing so. If I had to guess, they must be somewhere around Vapor Falls. There's nothing we can do no except waiting for a response from him or he coming through the door of the Center, though. Besides, he has my magical fox... If he comes back, please let me talk to him first and retrive Braixen from him, since I have to go the Daycare once again. Alright? All my Pokemon beside Helios are there, and I wished to spend some time with them before we challenge the Gym tomorrow."

Coincidence that this led directly to... Saying that Shiva was overjoyed over the gifted aid for the battle was a plan understatement. Almost, aaaallmost she gave him a warm hug in return, but for now she was fine to nevertheless honestly thank him and securely pack the items away. "Full Heals, huh? They'll come in handy when frozen solid. Though, I think I won't have sweet Cottonee battle in this Gym, you may remeber how Apsis pestered her with Ice Fang once... Oh, and....uhm... I don't wish to borrow a Pokemon from either you or Nathan. While asking for Hanael or hy Ponyta would make sense, I feel like I have to achieve things with my own companions this time. Like, this battle...as you say, will test the bond between me and my Pokemon, as well as me as their caretaker, does it? I'm also curious to see what that modified Roggenrola is capable of, thanks again for the Hard Stone!~ I'll take efforts not to loose faith and prepare mentally for this... Though, pretty sure that I'll nevertheless be nervous like nothing at first."

(Wow.  The Ultra Ball rolled a 666 and failed to capture...RIP...)

This was going surprisingly well for Kirlia so far, despite Absol's demonstration of a technique that Absol can't even learn typically.  Their luck wouldn't hold out forever, though...but that Ultra Ball NEARLY got Absol...Nathan was determined to see this through.  And win.  They could do this.  Regardless of the odds.

"Kirlia, Evade Absol's damaging attacks if you can, and keep using Draining Kiss to keep Absol's HP low if you can damage him without KOing him.  We need to end this quickly before something goes wrong for us, and keep things optimal to try and stave off the imminent disaster if we drag things out too long!"

Still 3 Actions.  Draining Kiss if Absol can be hurt without KOing him, Evade if a damaging move is incoming, and hold the action if neither can be done immediately.

Nathan will now use the Ultra Ball if Absol is at half HP or less (which he currently is, so...), and the 3 Great Balls will have the same condition as well.   Absol can't resist capture forever, right?  But neither can Kirlia end every round at full HP forever...this is turning into a true battle of wills here.  Let's see who gives first...

Draining Kiss
Accuracy: 3 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Allure - 3/4/5 Actions = 5/4/3 D6
Damage: 3 Strength + 2 Power + 1 STAB + SE - 2 Defense = 4 D6 + 1 Damage
Effect: Recover HP equal to half the damage dealt rounded down

Evade
Accuracy: Same as Draining Kiss, just with 2 Evasion instead of Allure

Ultra Ball
(6)(3)(6)(2)(5)(3) Three successes
Will: (1)(5)(4)(1)(5)(2) - one more than last time due to extra HP

Absol sees Nathan hefting the ball. He's covered in little quasi-burns from Kirlia's fairy attacks. He bows to you as the ball flies toward him, and when he's pulled inside, he stays there long enough for the seal to turn green.

Absol was caught!

No sooner has Nathan picked up the Pokeball than Absol has released himself, to tackle Kirlia and roll over and over with the Pokemon. Seems he has taken a liking to Kirlia.

Absol is still a raffish Pokemon. He will have 3 disobedience and 2 Loyalty and 2 Happiness. But he does bear a certain amount of respect for you as a trainer and won't be prone to loafing around or attacking friendlies. His favorite trick is to be out of his Pokeball in public where people can be shocked at him.
He has a Dex +1 Surprise, Survival +1 Surprise. His coat is gleaming and perfect, aside from his scar.
Ability is Super Luck.
He knows his Level 0 moves as well as Quick Attack, Pursuit, Swords Dance, Future Sight, and Night Slash.

Heart and the Mystic watch the whole thing from the top of the waterfall. Nathan will see them, outlined against the sky, if he looks up.

"Hahaha!  Come on, Absol, the battle's over, ya know!  Neat little trick ya had there with using Moonlight, though.  Not something I expected.  Ya got a couple of hidden talents from experience and/or the powers that be, don't ya?  Hm?"

The lights on the pokeballs are flashing...Nathan has 7 pokemon in his party...he sighs..."Well, Swiftfire more than earned a rest, so I guess she's going to get one...guess that means we're definitely going to be walking back, though...probably gonna take the rest of the day..."

He looks up to see where the sun's at currently...and then sees the outlines of two people at the top of the waterfall, presumably watching the battle and its outcome...

...

"You've got to be kidding me...I thought they would have left the area by now...*sigh*...well, I guess it probably doesn't matter...not like they're the first to see me with you today, Absol...just so long as that's all they saw...speaking of seeing Absol, there were a lot of you guys today...doesn't feel quite right to me to just call ya Absol, really.  What about...Calam? (yes, it's pronounced about how it looks)  I know it seems cliche, but Calam is an actual name.  A really rare one, but a name nonetheless.  What do you think?  Decent nickname?"

Absol considers a moment, then shakes himself like a dog. Then he nods.

"Calam it is, then.  Well, guess we should head back to town now...no reason to hang around here for the time being, right?"

And walking back to town we go!  And straight to the Center, too, since the day will likely be almost over by the time Nathan gets back...wonder who he'll run into first...Shiva, Kory, or Valerie? Or maybe Zamboni? Ventus is almost certainly going to be last, regardless...

"Great battle my friend! You show that absol a ABSOLute resolution!" The PUNisher chuckle after the joke. "Thank you again for let me stay here sir. I not ask your name yet. Mine is Heart, what yours sir?"

"Oh, Hidden Power you say? Hmm...from what my contemporaries in Pokémon Genetics and Scientific Breeding had to say on the matter, the type of Hidden Power, as well as its overall effectiveness for and against Pokémon, it is based on the intrinsic value they are born with. As you know, each Pokémon is unique, across and within an individual species, and such differences manifest themselves as size, body shape, off color variant like Shiny Pokémon in rare instances, and excelling in certain Attributul areas. Intrinsic values, or IVs , are theorized to play a strong role in determining a Pokémon's individual strengths, and their is one for each Stat of a Pokémon. The Stat's specific IVs are assigned a value by the means of a number gradient, with how strong/effective the IV is going up in positive correlation of increasing number value, and vice versa. Essentially, the higher individual IV for a Stat that a Pokémon has, the stronger they are in that aspect, and the overall higher total IVs a Pokémon contains in their genetic makeup, the 'better' it is compare to others of its species."

"What's strange , though, is that IV value don't seem to follow a pattern of inherentance or predisposition towards a certain total within species/families. Baffling to my friends, and more so to myself, they seemed to be randomly created for a Pokémon at conception, and they still haven't had a foggiest clue as to why this is. Some have theorized this Random IV mechanism is in place to ensure that weak Pokemon could eventually sire stronger children in the wild, and that strong IV specimens don't outcompete, out-reproduce, and lead to the decline of other species of Pokémon in their habitat, but what is truly the answer to this is unknown. The scientific and top tier breeders of the region of the world, though, HAVE found a way to establish some form of inherentance of IVs between parents and their offsprings, but the mechanic and in detailed knowledge is completely lost on me as to HOW they do it. I specialized in Sociology and Pokémon Behavioral Research in the University, so forgive me for being unaware of the details. I only know as much as I do because I worked alongside other researchers/scientific breeder in the research studies and field work I was a part of and conducted, and found myself curious enough to ask some question on the topic."

"As for how all of this relates to determining Hidden Power's type, its rather simple yet convulted, strangely. A Pokémon's IVs themselves determine its type, that much I am sure, but the process by which they do so...well, I learned the equation sometime ago, but I seemed to lost track of it. To be brief, the individual value of the...well, IVs and the summation determines the type of the move, while Power usually is static amoung species unless their have some Special quality to them that is hard to quantify. Breeders have been know to accidently and purposely breed species of Pokémon with a specific type of HP based on carefully arranged series of chain breeding to get the appropriate Summation IV for that type, but again how they do that is completely beyond me. Given the convulted nature of IVs breeding and HP Breeding is, its no wonder your father refrained from discussing it to you; its hard enough to learn all the specific of professional breeding, but dumping a load of genetic information like that would have been....unfair towards you. Hopefully I've found a way to condense and clarify the knowledge so as it doesn't confuse you, but I have been know to be incomprehensible from time to time, so feel free to address any questions you have on the subject," Ventus calmly and happily explains, taking several moments in between long winded paragraphs to catch his breath and think of the next point he wanted to bring across. Now that she knew the general of HP Breeding (and IV breeding, by connection), she was now much more prepare to became a first class breeder than ever before!...if he didn't completely lose her, that is.

The researcher couldn't help the sigh of relief at his dear friends response back on her father, as he was NOT ready to deal with that particular thorny issue presently. He remembered all the times he invariably pissed of one parent or both of a girlfriend/boyfriend he had, and it was never a experience he wished to live, pray to Reshirim! When Shiva asked for permission to speak with Nathan first and explained her reasons why, he immediately nodded his head and said: "Of course. If I talked to him first, I'm liable to cause him to hole up in his room and ignore everyone else until further notice. I have something I wish to discuss with him in private as well, namely my...apology to him, so you speaking with him first and leaving for the Pokémon Center would be sizable boon to me. ...Lets pray he'll give me enough time for that, though."

Shiva's declining of his Pokémon swap and lend offer didn't bother him in the slightest, as he understood exactly where she was coming from in regards to their sentiments on the matter, and so only gave a firm nod of his head. He then waited for Shiva to question him about particular topics, continue their conversation, or for Nathan to arrive; he really didn't have anything more to say at the moment that wouldn't potentially land him in Scalding water with her, so silence was suitable for the empath for the time being.

Order: Ventus is finished up with his end of the conversation, so all's that left is Shiva's responses and Nathan arriving at the Pokémon Center with/without Heart, and waiting on Valder perhaps. Let's end this day, and start the healing process for everyone effected by Ventus' mother henning...
