Ok, don't forget to subtract your forfeit money.
There are unlimited amounts of common Spearow, Sentret, Rattata, Sandshrew on Route 04.
Your new...friends? haven't gone very far yet. Ventus is fishing, hardly a mile out of town. You can see Shiva trying on hats, Valder breaking rocks into gravel with Piloswine, and Nathan running around with Kirlia, doing a little hotfoot dance to avoid something on the ground.

Hissing in delight, she pries the broken shell open with her tail and eats Shellder. Ventus now has a partially cracked shell. (How much XP for Overgrown Slowpoke, then?)
Thoroughly desensitized to the eating habits of Apsis and predatory wild Pokémon in general by this point in his life, Ventus shared in his sister's joy as she breached the bivalve's defenses and dug into its flesh with gusto! Ahhh.....that hit the spot, but it was not nearly enough to fill the belly of the great big Arbok, and soon enough she was staring morosely at her master, all but begging him for more treats. Shaking his head with a slight smile on his face at the hungry and pitiful expression she was broadcasting to him, the researcher told her : "Oh, I can't deny you substanance if you are giving me such an adorable/beconning look. Very well then, let's continue fishing until you have gorge on enough Pokémon to your heart's content!"
After presumably catching a few weak Goldeens/Magickarp for Apsis (Who snapped them up just as quickly as he brought them ashore), he made his way to a clear, level area off to the main thorough fare of Route 4. He set up the tent, start a small fire, and sent a voice message to Shiva, Valder, and Nathan as to were camp was being pitched for the night. His message to Nathan in particular had a little more than just directions, though, and that part read as follows:
"Oh, yes, before I forget, I wanted to inform you I caught a massive Slowpoke this morning, and that I have the means to evolve it into a Slowking at my disposal. If I recall correctly, you have a deeply vested interest in history, legends, and lore in general, so would you like to discuss what should be done in regards to it? Thank you!"

Skorupi: (5) +4 Dex +3 survival = 12
Kirlia: (5) +6 = 11
Skorupi Round 1
Poison Fang
4 Dex +2 Fight +1 Brawl -3 actions = 4 dice
(5)(5)(1)(2)
2 Str +2 power +1 stab -3 vit = 2d6+1
(6)(1) Kirlia takes 2 dmg 5/7hp -1 pain
Badly Poison chance: (6)(5)(3)(4)(1)
Kirlia is too slow to pirouette out of the way of Skorupi's dripping jaws. It bites him right in the ankle, and an UGLY purple and green swelling begins.
Confusion
(5)(6)(5)(2)
(4)(1)(1)(6)(5) Skorupi takes 3 dmg 2/5hp -2 pain
Chance: (2)
Venoshock
(5)
2 Str + 2 power + 2 special effect +1 stab -3 vit = 4d6+1
(4)(1)(5)(6) Kirlia takes 4 dmg 1/7hp -3 pain
Skorupi sends a gout of liquid all over Kirlia's legs. Where it meets the swelling, it reacts. Waves of heat emanate from Kirlia.
Confusion
(4)(2)(5)
(6)(5)(6)(2)(2) Skorupi faints in an angry blast of psychic energy from Kirlia.
Presumably you will be using an item, but if not let me know and I'll add poison damage.
Kirlia staggers back to Nathan, fully trusting him.

Tyrogue Round 1
Lol, Tyrogue never learns any moves that can affect Litwick.
Tyrogue dodges left, going for Litwick, then he ducks right and surprises Cottonee! Naturally, this trick will not fool them again!
Fake Out
1 Dex + 2 Fight + 2 Brawl = 5 dice
(4)(3)(2)(4)(5) 3 successes
(3)(6)(1)
2 Str + 2 power -3 vit = 1 dice
(1)
No damage (it's hard to get past that much fluffball fluff) but Cottonee does flinch at the surprise attack.
Litwick goes around and around Tyrogue, smiling cutely as he(?) traps the baby Pokemon in a vortex of flame.
Fire Spin
(1)(1)(3)(4)(4)(3)
(1)(1)(4)(5)(4) Tyrogue takes 2 dmg 2/4hp -2 pain.
Cottonee is flinched
Fire spin: (5)(3) Tyrogue takes 1 dmg 1/4hp -3 pain. He doesn't surrender!!

Great. Simple just great. Not only Heart have fortreit the battle against a Nose with legs (which is already a humiliation for a dragon) he have to pay 400 pokedollars which make him only have 200 pokedollars, and when he decided to go route 4 he couldn't find any rare or interesting Pokemon, just a bunch of common Pokemon.
"If I knew this would happen I would prefer to finish the battle. At least I couldn't loose that money. Now we have less money, less patience, and zero encounter with any good Pokemon! Damnit!"
In his frustration he kick a rock.
" *Sigh* And to complete that I don't even have money to teach a new move. Can be this day get worse?"
Then Heart decided to sit down to try relax and let out the stress.

*sigh* "I think staying here will not do any good".
Heart then decided to simple continue his path. Still frustrated but a little less. He finds Ventus and decided to talk with him.
"Heya."

Ventus was currently collecting firewood to burn later in the evening, when a familiar face walked on up to him: it was Heart! The researcher was delighted to see the pun telling man, but his cheerfulness was diminished somewhat by the fell mood that they were in. "Greeting, my friend. If you don't mind me inquring, what has caused you to become so irritated and sullen? Something unfortunate happened while we journied on ahead,? If you want, I can let you borrow my Great Rod and let you angle for brief period, as that almost never fails to calm me down!" he said, a look of concern on his face as he attempted to find a quick way to cheer them up!

"Wonderful. Simple wonderful. Fortreit a Pokemon battle. Lost 400 pokedollars. Lost the chance to catch any good and rare Pokemon. Couldn't be better!"
Then Heart notices he talking to Ventus and apologize.
"Sorry. I get a little irritated when I lost the chance to get some good Pokemon... I shouldn't throw you my stress. It's just... frustrated."
Then Ventus invite Heart to fishing.
"Well, I kinda already have a water-type, but, why not? Don't have anything better to do. Like a wise man say once: "To someone who doesn't wave nothing, half it's the double."
Heart feel a little better. Ventus know how to make someone feel better.

It's a VERY good thing Nathan has 3 different varieties of poison healing items on hand. He sprays Kirlia with an antidote immediately.
And then he summons Grid.
"Grid, paralyze this Skorupi with Thunder Wave, please. It's causing problems for travelers."
Once it's Paralyzed, Nathan will attempt to catch it with a Pokeball, then a Great Ball if that fails.
He's not particularly happy with this Skorupi, but he can't just leave it here for less prepared trainers to run afoul of. He'd figure out what to do with it later.
