[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

Guess he hasn't studied aquatic pokemon (and Spoink) all that much?

Its a little of both, actually, along with the fact that good? old Ven was VERY distracted at the time when Kirlia nearly blasted/kissed Lucifer to oblivion over his early Frisking antics. He's studied and researcher pretty much the entire Pokedex besides Legendary Pokémon and Pokémon native from Tandor at this point of time, so he would be quite aware of Clampearl and Spoinks's Pearl....if it were not for several factors.

One, Aquatic/Hoen Pokémon were not his main fields of research (Those would be Dragon, Fairy [Know thy enemy], Steel, Ghost, and Disobediant/Unruly/Viscous Pokémon, along with his broader studies of Pokémon Behaviorology + Sociology PHD). Two, its been awhile since he's actually seen a Clampearl/Spoink , and while their Pearls are rather distinct, so are the qualities of the several hundreds of Pokémon that exist in the world. He's a good researcher, but he does not think and archive memories/info like a computer! Third, he just hasn't really been paying to much attention to the Pearl ever since that spat over it in Winesberry, as quite frankly from then on he had much bigger things on his mind, so he hasn't really thought about it deeply. If Ven asked to see the Pearl for a few minutes that might jog his memory fully, but since he doesn't have too much of a reason to besides curiosity's shake, he won't.

As far as he's aware, its just a valuable pearl that powers up Kirlia in some way, based on what he has seen/felt, and is content to leave it at that. Nothing much more to it than that, honestly.

A bit ironic, considering Huntail are not known for their mercy (lure their prey in and instantly swallow them whole!) and Gorebyss have a whopping 3 Disobedience and are almost as cruel and deceitful as some Fairy types.

If he thought about the evolutionary lines more, he might have cottoned on to what that Pearl was, but as you said it yourself, Ven had and has much more crucial things to ponder!

Eh, I don't think Shiva would enjoy to bring any of her Pokemon close to that Houndour deliberatly, and her fear of that dog might transfer to them and cause a responding reaction - either fear on their own or an urge to protect their caring Master from harm. Kyuu (Espurr) however, well, I'll leave his reaction to GM's discretion.

Seeing that Nathan has Houndour under control will help a little in terms if trusting that it won't harm her on purpose, similar to Ven's Arbok, but she'll still desire to have nothing to do with it for obvious reasons.

@PhantomUnderYourDesk : I'm in the middle of a response post right now, but class is about to start, so I'll have to get back to it in a couple of hours. Sorry, my most beautiful inspiration!

I do hope Shiva will be a little more tolerant of Orthros eventually.  He's very dedicated to his entire pack, after all.  That doesn't just have to be Nathan and his pokemon.

Remember what Ventus did to his pack mates, especially to one of them in particular? Yeah, even if my character grows to tolerate/not loathe with every fiber of his being that Houndour, its highly liable that the feeling will never be mutual on the dream demon's end. From what I recall, Iron post about whether or not he escapes his ball to attack Ven was basically meet with 'Nope, I knew what he did to my former pack mates, and I don't wanna fuck with him!', so he'll likely end up in the same camp as Braixen: utterly despising Ventus and all he stands for. Ah, he does bring out the best worst in Pokémon, eh?

Windos!~ *tacklehugs* Perfect timing.

In whatever way you turn it, Nathan will stay alone with that Delta Houndour (at least when you look at Ven and Shiva, dunno about Heart and Valder). Maybe, with some smart outplaying, she will tolerate that dog, but it'll take loooong (longer than Shiva needed to not be overly scared of Apsis)m but that doesn't mean she desires to be close to him or help caring for him. Sorry for this, but that's the way it is...

No, I don't really ever expect Orthros to like Ventus. At all. At best, he'd probably just be passive aggressive towards Ventus.

His pokemon might be a different matter, though, if Orthros doesn't view them as a rival pack or something. Raphael was the only other one who killed a Houndour, after all, and that was at least the most merciful of all those doggy deaths (and he's normally a very kind individual). Aspis only KOed the dogs.

Shiva is a different matter entirely. Maybe Orthros knows about the two of his packmates(?) that were chasing Shiva's Espurr. Maybe not. Probably not going to know until we see how Orthros reacts to Kyuu. And seeing as Nathan does view Shiva as a friend by this point, that's likely enough of a basis for Orthros to include her in the pack.

And that's where I'm trying to go with this: Orthros viewing Nathan, his pokemon, and (most of) his friends as a pack of sorts. A way to how the dogs really aren't as bad as Ventus and Shiva assume.
