This talk of Teleport reminds me that it's a TM in Gen 1 only.
...and there's a lot of weird pokemon from gen 1 that can learn the move from that TM. Arcanine, Butterfree, Venomoth, Magmar, Clefairy, Slowpoke (heck, we saw one of these in Corsage!), Shellder, Voltorb, Staryu, Electabuzz, Magnemite...lots of Electric, Normal, Bug, and Fire types in addition to Psychic (Shellder is the only exception to that if we say Clefairy is Normal instead of Fairy).
Man, gen 1 movepools are weird, aren't they?

I agree. But lets agree the first pokemon game was a test. The developers never expect that game be success like that. And now many years later pokemon its a bomb of success and one of the most successful franchise.

Well, I wouldn't quite call it a test. More of an experiment, maybe. Test would imply they were expecting to make more of them if the original did well.
I think we can agree that wonky movepools certainly makes for some fun variety that a lot of more recent pokemon tend to lack, though. Though why certain TMs exist in the first place in the first gen is certainly a head scratcher...

And TM in that time it was one-use only. Imagine the pain to paid a TM and use only once.

Nobody misses the TMs for Water Gun, Rage, Razor Wind, Take Down, Skull Bash, Dragon Rage, Bide, Swift, Psywave, Egg Bomb, and Teleport, though All the others have some kind of niche that's useful either in the gen 1 games or a later gen (though I can argue that Water Gun is at least kinda useful if you use it jut to get through Mt. Moon's Geodude in the single player and don't have Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Butterfree, or Mankey/Nidoran (Yellow only), so...).
But yeah, single use TMs. Blegh. Definitely don't miss that mechanic. Thank goodness for easy cloning methods in gen 1, gen 2, and Emerald, right?

Hmmm...so Shiva and Ventus are going to be visiting the Shelter again the next day...maybe Nathan's going to end up tagging along just by sheer coincidence since he wants to get the next thing on his to-do list done ASAP...

A lot. And much people don't like emerald, Saphire and Ruby, but It was there was created one the mostly important things in the breed: Ivs and Natures. That was a incentive to the use of breed strong Pokémon and the new competitive begun.

I'm not going to say any one gen is better or more popular than the others. They all have their pros and cons. But I do have a bit of a soft spot for Gens 3 and 4 myself, since I started with Emerald and Platinum.

Fav Gens are Gen 5 and Gen 3 are my favs, due to the innovation they brought to the series have long lasting impacts, such as HAs, Breeding techniques, Natures and just plain abilities. The Battle Frontiers were also a blast to compete in, if I do say so myself!
I am also fond of Gen 7 myself, as its quite the different take on the series usual tradition of Gym Challenges, Evil Gang, and then League/Post League. After that, I like the Mystery Dungeon series the best , and then Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. Wish I had the GBA adapter to my Gamecube so that I could link up Emerald to it....
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

Shiva actually has nothing against that, and would even mention where she and Ven head to if being asked. I cannot speak for Ventus though, how he'd react to Nathan joining.
