First things first: healing that poison with the provided items. Calam's glaring back at that trainer as he leaves while Nathan's getting this video business sorted out...

Well, Calam and Kirlia definitely kept it short. That battle left a sour taste in Nathan's mouth, though.

"Come on Calam, we'll get you back to the Center so you can rest. That looked...brutal. No time to get you healed properly, unfortunately, but you can relax in the PC for awhile. I'm sure Starmie, Grid, and the bees will be more than happy to keep you company."

Returning to the Center, Nathan deposits Calam and Starmie into the PC, and withdraws Porygon-Z.

Despite how unfortunate that battle had been, it was fortunate that Nathan had managed to get the needed funds to pick up Rotom from the Shelter. And also fortunate that Kirlia remembers the way to the Shelter...

Once at the shelter...

As Nathan walks in, people are carrying around crates, installing iron bars, recalling Pokemon into their Pokeballs...

"Oh yes, we haven't put Rotom away yet, but he has been balled. We're locking down in case the vines get here. We'd actually love to accept an adoption fee right now. It will help us with with our emergency fund. Here!"

The worker tosses you a ball. "Head through Discharge and you can get Rotom transferred to your ID. Just pay there."

The adopted Pokemon has 3 Happiness and 1 Loyalty, 3 disobedience. It has Uproar, Charge, and Shock Wave.

After that battle Heart heal Aron with some nurse Joy with that heal machines and decided to wait for the others to begin the mission.

(Oh wow, Charge. Dang, that's a 57 exp move. So, quick question then since it's relevant now: are we going to use it as is, or also apply the buff it got in gen 4 that raises the user's [Sp.] Defense when the move is used? And I assume we're also sticking with the book on this one and not treating Uproar as a rampage-like move like in the games?)

Short, sweet, to the point. Awesome. Oh, and $3050 down the drain (technically $3000 actually, since obtaining a Rotom earned $50 of Mallorn money, so...)...not quite so awesome, but hey, at least that's one pokemon from the Shelter safe from the approaching vines...

Next up is a quick trip outside with a VERY happy Porygon-Z to finally get through proper introductions. Kirlia's back out of his pokeball again too as soon as Nathan steps outside.

And out comes Rotom as well!

"Well, welcome to the group, Rotom. Glad you decided to join. So, the question is probably sudden and all, but you think you might enjoy being a fridge? There's an abandoned one behind the department store that I saw the other day, and it seems like too good of an opportunity to pass up considering the situation, to be honest. Oh, and you're a rather rare species, but you're hardly the only Rotom in the region as well...so, how about a nickname? Pulse sound interesting enough?"

If Rotom's fine with it, let's go get that fridge with Kirlia's help in Teleporting there to save some time (or back to the Center if not)! Having access to Blizzard oughta come in handy, no? And after that...well, time for that short talk with Kirlia...

Ah... At the sight of sweet Happiny about to weep while being there in his owner's arms, nothing held Shiva back anymore and she carefully approached closer, Yena semi-confused as he followed Master. He has just finished licking his pawn in confidence and was about to cast a victory-howl to the sky, but what was wrong this time...?

Nothing actually, as she (after accepting price money) very softly and comforting stroked over Happiny's cheek (if it + Darius allow that is!) while actively trying to radiate the calmness in her. "Now, it's exactly as your owner says, sometimes one learns more from a loss than a victory. I guess...? Anyway, I enjoyed your strategy and you did a fine job defeating my Espurr, so smile again rather soon, now would you?" ... "Oh, right!" *tensed rummaging in bagpack, like if in eager search for something* "...Found! There you go, lil' one, that's for you - to help you a little on your path becoming a pleasant healer." *To Darius* "That bottle of a Potion is empty. Well, maybe one spray or such is still in it... But you can have it, if you have use for it! Maybe as a substitute to train Happiny using healing items? Ehm... Whoahw, look at the time! I gotta go anyway, and I don't want to hold you up way longer and be responsible for you being late to class or such! But I'd be delighted to stop by again... ... ... Once back a the GPC (avoiding the plaza, vines and more distractions along the way, as well as having gotten faint blush back into control), the first thing she did was handing Kyuu in his Pokeball to one of the Nurse Joys with the request to note her as soon as he's fine again - as Shiva does need to leave the city in a few hours. She'll wait there in the Lobby and keep her occupied with stuff meanwhile. Yena wasn't in pain at all, so he followed Shiva along the way as well and curled himself up for a nap on the table Master took seat at, enjoying the appreciating stroked over his grey fur she gave him.

Instead of sitting around waiting, watching the clock, overthinking and worrying what may await them all at the swamp - though honestly, there was a spark of curiosity how any folk or villagers might react if Shiva ends up quoting lyrics of a native swamp song - she ended up making relatively well use to the time until meeting up with the others again by creating these boots/shoe covers out of the Baashaun Wool! Azurill has been called out as well to watch her Master and help her with Helping Hand if she liked (like, passing a needle or holding the thread).

Once finished, Shiva tried them on and went across to the PCs of the Center and back to the table - indeed, her walk felt so lightly and was making barely any sound - just as the Vendor of the Department Store told. Equipped with this, wearing the Ranger's cloak and being accompanied by her magical fox she felt a tad bit more like a Ranger from RPGs.

(Probably no roll needed with 3 points in Crafts and Azurill's help? If nevertheless, I'll edit this! Shiva is free to meet up with the others from the group and depart from Stair City then.)

Rotom and Porygon Z are pretty much inseparable when outside their balls. Rotom's mischief and disobedience is even a little contagious when it comes to Porgyon Z.

Rotom thinks it would be great fun to become a fridge. He dives right in. While inside this half-functioning fridge, he cares nothing for dings or dents he acquires along the way. The first prank he thinks of is slamming against a wall over and over again to make a racket.

(Now Shiva can create frozen berries anytime! I'll also point out the obvious: Rotom and his fridge can be recalled into a Pokeball while fused, but alone a fridge is considered a complex machine and won't go in a Pokeball.)

Kirlia listens patiently. In the end, one fact is triumphant: Whatever Nathan thinks is best, Kirlia thinks is best. He agrees to try. He seems grumpier about the request to try to get along with...well, Ventus, mostly. Shiva he thinks he already gets along well with. When Kirlia gets you to understand that he gets along well with Shiva, he clasps his hands together: bond. He has a special bond with Shiva, though obviously it has nothing on his bond with Nathan! He hopes this won't make Nathan angry or jealous. He pauses to see.

Kirlia gives Nathan a little headbutt. He'll try to get along, but he knows Nathan knows there's more to 'unselfish love' than that.

Darius Doros happily exchanges phone numbers. He seems pleased that you asked. "This is just the landline in my dorm, so make sure we get in contact before I graduate a year from May!" (About 13 months from now).

Your boots turn out nice! They stay a nice black even when gray Espurr fur or white Shield Dust gets on them.
