[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
(11-29-2017, 06:47 PM)Iron Wrote: Tindal is interested in the Pokeball itself. "Most men here use Apricorns or Apricorn dust to store and bond with Pokemon. I have only seen a few of these Pokeballs in my life. They are kept under lock and key at the General Store, and they are a funny yellow and black color, somewhat like a Heavy Ball."

(Now I'm officially confused about this NPC's name, it was Tandal before, Tendal once and now Tindal, lolz)

Yes, Shiva heared this and listened to his words. However, she was way too busy crying and cuddling her magical fox and wad of fairy-cotton, so it took several happy sobs, barely restrained sniffles and attempts of drying her tears with the velvet sleeve of her Ranger's cloak before she even responded.

But when she did so, a soft smile decorated her expression and her voice has increased! "I...Interested? *sniffle* Eh, sorry, the...*'nother sniffle* moment must have gotten the better of me... Ehm, well, if you like, here, take a look at it... *faint sob, followed by stroking over her eyey with sleeve of the cloak* I also have one in a black and yellow patterns, you mean this one? These are called Ultra Balls and are the most effective from the standard set - only one very rare ball is...'stronger'... hehe..."

"If most people of the village use Apricorns and their dust, does that mean there are many Apricorn Trees here in this swamp? I only found that white one, but one of my Pokemon carries a pink one. Or do you people cultivate them on your own?"

"Yes, we cultivate White Apricorns and Blue Apricorns. Yellow and Red Apricorns grow in the swamp, relatively commonly. And there are also occasional pink ones. Long ago, there used to be green ones that made excellent dust for bonding rituals. They are now extinct, or nearly so. White is for speed. Blue is for water, of course. Yellow is for the sky, and Red is for strength. Pink represents emotion. When bonding with a Pokemon in our ritual, or storing a Pokemon, the type of dust used may make a difference in your bond with your Pokemon."

A casual conversation about Apricorns was a nice way to calm Shiva's nerves and lower her adrenaline level slowly but steadily. Indeed, acting so brave and getting things done was completely new to her and it DID feel very awesome, but especially at the beginning it was highly depowering. At least her mind was back to normal now and left her alone.

Shiva didn't speak that out towards Tandal, but she would quite rejoice to see how they cultivate Blue and White Apricorns... Maybe she'd even be able to snatch one of two ripe fruits? So pink was emotion - how interesting that Pokemon of her that came to her mind first didn't show any interest in the pink Apricorn. Kyuu did instead. Maybe this was a hint? Maybe her psychic cat was just fascinated by emotions...

"*last very subtle sniffle* How neat that you people value the Apricorns and their ritual that much... Where I come from, barely anyone uses them. I don't think the trees are even native there. Besides, now that we're here... You mentioned having a POKEMON EGG with you? Mind to tell me where you got it from and check on its progress using a special software on my Dex? Just curious what it may contain, I won't tell you if you'd rather keep it a suprise for you."

---------------
Mechanics:
Just out of curiosity and because it feels in-chara, can Shiva check on that egg Tandal mentioned carrying using her Almanac? She'll check on all three Mystery Eggs she currently carries as well.

Afterwards, it'll be time to head back to the camp to regroup and continue the way - for an attentive eye it'd be visible that Shiva cried horribly, but only a more attentive eye or mind might notice that she didn't do so due to sadness.

Tandal isn't interested in using technology on his egg. He doesn't even carry it in an incubator - just the old fashioned way!

Your eggs haven't progressed enough for the Checker to be worth anything.

That should patch the Rapidash up for now, enough to slow the bleeding substantially.

Raphael definitely doesn't care enough about a few Ninjask to come out of his Pokeball/have a fight with Ventus.

"It'll be fine, Swiftfire.  We'll get that healed soon enough.  Thank you for taking care of things so quickly."

Nathan turns back to Aspis for a moment.

"Fine.  Be a spoiled little serpent.  Swiftfire got hurt defending you, and if that means nothing to you, fine.  I didn't have to fetch Ventus and run over here as fast as I could, you know."

Nathan turns to leave.  As he passes Ventus, he says one thing: "Your favorite pokemon is endangering both herself and others for selfish reasons now, Ventus."

And then he keeps walking.  He wants nothing to do with the aftermath of this situation.

The empath emotional state, upon his arrival on scene and seeing both Nathan and Apsis Lethally wounded, plummeted from the from the already bad 'gravely troubled/worried'  to near pitch black WRATH, and his very first instinct after fully processing what happened was to let his sister pay evil unto evil in the most graphic ways possible. The boy attempting to bargain with his snake, however, briefly threw him for a loop, as the last thing he was expecting was for them to try persuade a Arbok that  A) a species known for their high Disobedience, B) specifically has quite the vindictive streak/is easily wrathful, especially towards threats to her life/master, C) Is a habitual hunter , and D) hold him in particularly regard for their past transgressions. Altogether, that was a recipe for trouble of the worst kind, causing Ventus to think worriedly/incredulously to himself: 'What is Reshirim's name is he thinking by doing this?! His offer is more likely than not going to provoke her to do something unpleasant in response, so why is he putting his life at risk like so?!?'

Fortunately for the researcher, his sister wholly ignored the request instead of lashing out against the boy for ransoming aid and/or perceived impudence, causing them to let out a sigh of relief as he thanked Reshirim prevent THAT specific outcome. He also grateful that he didn't have to 'dispose' of the Ninjack himself before/during Nathan trying to argue/stop with him, as one way or another he was NOT going to let these damned insects have a merciful outcome to trying to kill Apsis/Swiftfire. Nathan's next bitterly laced words, though, caused his mind to go almost painfully blank at true that statement was, and he almost flinched when at their Parting Shot like remark as they left the wake of their battle. It took the researcher a good few minutes for his brain to kick back into gear, before he let out a tired, weary sigh of his own, and spoke out his recanding statement towards the boy to himself, too quiet for anyone but himself to hear: "You know well of Apsis' Disobedience, habits and behavior, as well as the contempt she hold for you, so what was the expected outcome you were hoping for, Nathan? Why in Kyurem's damned name are you casting blame and scorn at my feat, when you knew how likely she was to reject your bargain, to find it untenable and outrageous in her eyes, yet still went ahead and tried to persuade her otherwise? I accept and regret that she indirectly caused harm towards Swiftfire,  but if you set up a scenario that would all but end in failure, then only you are to be blame for being wrathful, sullen, and discontent Nathan. That is the Truth of the matter....."

Ventus then let out another sigh, before putting on a comforting smile and approaching his snake to check her wounds/hug her carefully with the passion of a scare, worried family, who let out a pleased *Hiiiisssss.....* as her master's ministrations, but that feeling was cut short when he followed up such actions by gently but firmly chiding her. "I understand why you refused Nathan's offer, but you still should have been more considerate of the responsibility and harm he and Swiftfire undertook to rescue you, my sister. Please remember that, Apsis, for I don't want you to end up isolated to all but myself for such headless selfishness, and for the love of Reshirm please be more careful when hunting by yourself in the future.... (Insert Apsis' Reaction her, Iron!)...." Once the sociologist finished assessing her injuries/mood, he'd figured that his two remaining Purple Coral Mushrooms would repair the worst damage, but before he administered them and balled his giant snake to sleep off her wounds, he pointed to the Ninjack and said to her: "Well, now that had our discussion, what do you say we 'finish' off these deadly pests before I treat your wounds with healing and sleep inducing mushrooms, my sister? I'll let you feast on half of them, and I'll slay half of them myself, so that way you don't overeating and suffering from a bad case of tummy ache on top of the damage you already have!"

Order: Have Ventus rationalize away Nathan's anger towards him/Apsis behavior, discipline Apsis for being thoughtless in her actions/reactions, divide up the work in killing all the Ninjack so as to get it done quickly with little hassle and THEN dosing her with his only two Purple Coral Mushrooms to heal up her lethal damage. Afterwards, he'll rejoin the group and not say a word about what happened, or even show signs of being concerned. Onwards with the journey.....

Apsis does something surprising. She saves a chunk of mushroom and drops it near Rapidash, a very half-asped apology. It's not enough mushroom to do much, but Apsis doesn't know that. Ventus has never heard of any serpent sharing food, period.

If anyone can get through to Apsis, it's Ventus.
