[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
(12-07-2017, 04:58 PM)PhantomUnderYourDesk Wrote: Again it took a little until Shiva responded... Subliminally, she has moved a little closer to Ventus. Her voice was still neutral. "Fine. If you're thinking THAT way, by all means do so and happily refuse to see beyond your own nose. ...I thought you'd have faith in me. But if you're feeling oh-so smart with your journal, what do YOU think we should do, huh?"

...

Kirlia looks really sad now...

...

...Nathan closes his journal and sets it aside as he quietly processes the backlash he wasn't anticipating...

...

...and then there's tears again...with muttering in between sobs...

"...feel so..powerless...nothing I...can do..."

Throughout this whole conversation, Shiva's been talking about herself conducting this ritual...she's gathered the information, said she's the one who'll be making the preparations...no mention of how Nathan might be able to contribute to what was originally his mission...

...Mesprit's message had been talking about him and Kirlia...so why did it feel like he wasn't going to be able to fulfill his end of that prophecy?

This was even greater! If she'd knew how stressful this morning would have become by now, she'd either remained up in her dorm or go downstairs and follow her own business. Why have things gone wrong now? By all means, she wasn't getting this at all. This is becoming more and more tiring, and she's dwelling here for too long already. Something draws her to the outside, back to the bonfire and on the search for a cottonwood tree where problems and worries felt less heavy. A place of piece. Just yesterday evening she was so happyn, this morning she was too thanks to a familiar and dear oddball of researcher, but now...

She just observed Nathan, her expression and posture downcasted, annoyed and dishearted, but she kept her arms crossed. It seems he didn't even had a plan. Neat.

Her voice was a very strange mixture of compassion and impatience. For several moments, she didn't say anything, she was considering what to say actually. He wasn't doing good, he was breaking, but seeing how he threw away her ideas without even giving them a thought while not having one on his own in store was...pathetic. Shiva's adult mind kept on telling and assuring her that she has not done anything wrong, that this was not her fault. She does not have to be sorry when she's not to blame, doesn't she? She had her pride, it was hidden somewhere deep and covered by cloaks of other emotions, but it was unmistakeably there.

"...Nathan, just stop with that. Please. This feels wrong. Quite honestly, LISTEN TO ME. The whole time, you've given me the image that you know what you are doing. You've been asking questions to Tandal, noting down what he told. Now, when you cannot take it anymore, you're coming crawling to us opening up that you have no idea what you can actually do? How you're stuck, feeling powerless and there's nothing you can do? You could have done so earlier, way earlier, you could have spoken to us and we'd listen and discuss together what we can do. Now, it's too late. Yesterday, once we arrived at the village, you straight away ran to the Pokemon Center, not telling a word to us and likely not caring what we'll do. You've been trying to solve everything on your own, and now realizing how you can't does hurt - I can understand that. But at the same time, I DO NOT understand AT ALL why by all means you're outright throwing away the idea I brought up when 1. I feel it can progress us and 2. we seem to have no other possibility. Unless you want to spend time searching for another solution? You can, you are all free to do so."

"This whole thing is not a one-man-show either, Nathan, it never was. The prohecy may talk about you and your Pokemon, by does this mean you have to do everything alone? By all means, NO. If that'd be the case, I wouldn't have come here but would instead travel west in direction Elanor. If you are thinking you must solve and fulfill everything on your own, now you learn where this might lead to. We others are there to help you if needed, but we cannot do so if you are not accepting this help and aren't learning from failures and former problems."... "I don't need your approval to look into things on my own either. The lyrics of the native swampsongs have been gifted to me, I'm carrying them for a while now and you just spectacularly proofed yourself not only not capable to conduct such a ritual, but also impossible to let others have their piece on the matter and help you when they clearly can."

Whoahw, Shiva actually didn't want to speak so many words nor air her thoughts so clearly here. The words just came, and now that they where dwelling in the heavy air of the room, she moved her gaze away from Nathan and down to the overyl interesting pattern of the floor. A few seconds later, she looked up to Ventus, awaiting whether he has something to add here while simply hoping that at least HE is not loosing hope in her. She was also silently asking him whether they can finally leave here and let Nathan rethink about things if he feels like doing so. Besides, he's doing better in the hands of a Nurse Joy now anyway.

"Yes! Keep going Tynamo!" Heart cheer up. He see the energy growing inside Tynamo, increasing his power. Then a idea pops in his head. "Wait..." Then Heart remember Ventus words about the evolution process of Tynamo:

"As for evolving it, I've heard trainers and researchers using Magnets and electricity generated from other sources to stimulate the produce of electricity in these Pokémon, so that option could work."

"Repeatidly practicing with its innate Electrical moves in and out of battle until they finally acquire the ability, a fairly time intensive task but one that is gariteed to eventually produce result."

"Perhaps...this is the key! Charge Beam helps to incrase Tynamo powers with each sucessfull strike! Perhaps if use enough times Charge Beam...he might be close to reach his next level of evolution! But I need to calm down. There is no guarantee this works, but I need to continue testing." Then Heart asks to his Tynamo. "Tynamo, if you not feel confident to continue, I will not force you to continue, but I think I find a theory to make you close to your next evolution, but I will not force to do it."

Action: See Tynamo reaction and see if he want to continue the battle.

Despite the discontent bubbling within Shiva that ended up lacing her words with sharp bitterness/frustration, Ventus let her speak their mind to the emotionally vulnerable boy. The reason he did so were simple: If he stopped her from releasing her negativity it would only grow and fester in her ,  he mostly agreed with what she had to say on the matter (Though he though the boy was capable of preforming the ritual, given his extraoridinary amounts of compassion) , and that, sometimes, 'some anvils needed to be dropped' if he or the group was going to make any significant progress together through Cheshire, let alone on their current quest. Regardless of the good of his mystical friend's words, they still carried potent feelings that could (and most likely would) weigh Nathan down even further into the mire of doubt and self resentment he's experiencing, so he spoke up soon after she finished speaking her piece on the matter, placing a hand on her should while he did so.

" I believe that is enough for the time being, Shiva. We've made our case and presented what evidence we had that this ritual would meet our expectations, so let us not overly pressure him about this anymore than we already have." Ventus then looked over at boy crying, and gave them the best worried smile he could muster in bleak times such as this one. "I'm sorry that we've been so....insistent on our method in getting to the 'Ends of the Earth' , Nathan.....we just thought that our findings would be enough to help rekindle your spirits, and got incessed when that wasn't the case. Still, I understand why your skeptical of this, as we only have old, circumstantial evidence supporting our claims and no definitive proof that summoning the 'Southern Wind Incarnate' would actually be a successful endevour. I know better than most of the overwhelming pressure you feel right now, and the weigh of responsibility that comes with it, so being critical about this is perfectly reasonable."

He took a deep breath then, and did his utmost to release as much of his own negativity in his exhaulation so that his next words would not come across bitter or hurtfull. ".....But Nathan....what do we stand to lose by trying this summoning ritual that is not already on the line? It may be a longshot effort, yes, and the time we have to solve this crisis of Vine is crucial, but if we leave Arrowroot now for the location implied by Tandel, Stair City would almost assuredly be lost unless Dagney and Stable Z succeed in quelling the Vines by themselves. Staying here to conduct the ritual, in the grand scheme of things, would not significantly affect our chances of stopping the vines. If we fail in the ritual, we proceed to the next set of clues to solve this crisis, and are given more time to open Kirlia's heart more to outsiders. If we succeed, though, all of us will be taken to our desired location, and can proceed to the next stage in solving the vines."

"In light of all this, would it not be preferential to try the ritual and move on regardless of the outcome?"

Tynamo shakes his head at Heart's theory, as it has used Charge Beam many times in the past. But it is game to continue battling!

Mannawhehi sends out his last Pokemon: a Bibarel. It's already holding a big chunk of peat, saturated with sawdust.

Yes, this was indeed enough and Shiva didn't feel like elaborating anymore on this. She gave him an thoughtful and appreciating look as he placed his hand on her shoulder, before she continued to either observe the walls or the floor as in search for any patterns there, awaiting responses.

The only thing she'll likely bring up is that the ritual cannot be conducted right away, as some time needs to be spend in preparing oneself for it. To Shiva, this means qualitative and calm alone time in nature, as well a need to actually go through the lyrics a few times more to find a pace and tone of voice that feels right and well.

"Alright then, if you insist Tynamo, I will not defied your will fighting spirit." Heart simple smile. "We have a little advantage here since its a Water type. Lets do it then." Heart was quite prepare for everything. There two chances to this work. If this Bibarel the Simple Ability, he will drop a lot his speed with Thunder Wave. But if he have the Unaware ability, stats changs will not work very well. All Heart can is count with the luck. "Focus in avoid his next attack Tynamo, then counter attack with Charge Beam two times!"

Dodge: Dex (3) + Fight (2) + Evasion (1) - Actions (3) = 3d
Charge Beam Acuracy 1: Dext (3) + Fight (2) + Canalize (2) - Acuracy (1) - Actions (4) = 4d6
Charge Beam Acuracy 2: Dext (3) + Fight (2) + Canalize (2) - Acuracy (1) - Actions (5) = 3d6

Charge Beam Damage: STR (4*) + Power (2) + STAB (1) + SE (1) = 6d6 +1
Notes: Same as before about Charge Beam.
