[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
...

...neither Orthros nor Kirlia managed to deal any damage before getting immobilized one way or another...

...so much for moving faster than ever before...

...Nathan doesn't really have the energy to summon the combee, nor give Kirlia any orders...

...and he doesn't have the energy to try digging through his bag right now to get his last Ice Heal...just holds the unconscious Orthros close and does his best to shield Kirlia...

Nathan's quietly withdrawing from the fight to let everyone else finish it off since they seem to have it under control.  The lack of self confidence is going to be VERY apparent now...

Heart simple sigh and try to stop Nathan lack of confidence. "Oh for the love of Arceus. You bring US here, so you need at least helps us to finish this. Dont be a Onion now Nathan!"

Earth Guardians Round 1 cont

(...) As Cottonee falls out of the air, the female Gliscor grabs Cottonee and deposits her safely on the Metagross.

(...) Ventus, with his keen eye for revenge, notices that Gliscor is very careful not to strike at any vital body parts: it's a nonlethal attack. But it is a critical hit.

(...) Lucifer begins to fall and unlike the Gliscor, Beartic pays no mind to this danger.

(...) Heart throws a Pokeball excitedly! When it reaches Kabutops, though, it flashes red without sucking him in, and lands in the snow without having attempted a capture. That can mean only one thing: Kabutops is already registered. (This does not normally expend the Pokeball).

(...) Lucifer takes 1 dmg and faints.

Earth Guardians Round 2

All that needs to happen is dealing 1 damage to a Gliscor!

Even with the breakneck pace and CHAOS that all battles tend to descend into and low visibility brought upon by night + Sandstorm, Ventus Insightful natural, powerful empathy and sharp eyes let keep up with everything that was happening and react as appropriate. Contrary to his expectectations and to his great surprise, it seemed that some of these Pokémon were not apparently out to take life and limb of everyone here, with the Gliscor in particular being EXTREMELY magnanimous despite being the aggressor(s) in battle. Intitially this greatly confused the researcher (greatly diminishing his wrath over being Ambushed in the process), as he knew from both his education and hands on/field experience that wild Pokémon rarely afforded mercy/kindness towards foes. Heart's failed capture attempt and Kabutops and their warning caused the empath's eyes to widen at the revelation: these Pokémon were being commanded by someone or THING.

'What in Reshirim's name, something is commanding and coordinating the offensive defense of this viscous mob?! Does that mean their are more unseen guardians waiting to repulse us, or their is a diabolical force that is trying to prevent us from accomplishing our task? Gragh, we do not need these unforeseen difficulties standing in our way, especially when we are so close to achieving our goal! Rain, Hail, or raging Sandstorm, I will NOT let who or WHAT ever get away unmolested  for this trepass against us all!!!' Ventus furiously thought to himself, swift to recall Lucifer when the combination of the raging sands and frigid assault nearly cut their flight short as they were KOed, which caused him to level a withering glare at the rather cold hearted Bearartic partially responsible for this. Oh, he's going to have some nice, quality time with them to express just how much he appreciates their frigid action once the battle was concluded.....

That was neither here nor there, of course. He and Raphael (who had blessidly remained unharmed for the most part) still had enemies to wage war against their opponents, though fortunately their was only a heavily wounded Gliscor remaining to focus on. Which the archangel did so with Extreme Speed and prejudice, not needing to be ordered to know that their master wanted the scropiobat wings clipped pronto!

Order: Raphael will just focus on doing one Extreme Speed on the wounded Gliscor, for both maximum hit chance, Crit chance, AND to prevent it from getting off any checky moves like Knock Off or Gullotine. Time to black out, bat!

Of course Shiva notices this, despite all the chaos of battle here at the cliff and swap from heartache to icy queen. She gives him a look into his direction that non-threatingly said 'Now go in there please, that's why we're here at all!', before concentrating on Cottonee, Nightshade and the catching(?) of Beartic again.

Whether it before or after the groups successfully overcame this dastardly night time ambush, the drastic plummet in Nathan overall self confidence and positive outlook was like a shining beacon to Ventus' empathy. Unfortunately for the boy, the researcher only had a unamused look for their current plight, as having a crisis of faith RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF HOSTILE TERRITORY AND POSSIBLY AT THE END OF THEIR QUEST did not earn the them any sympathy from him. Add in the empath's opinion that the young trainer seemed DETERMINED to remain in a dour, negative mood despite constant reassurance and support, the opportunity to grow/develop some sturdier emotional resilancy, and the fact that he just plain doesn't like them, and it should come at no surprise that he choose to ignore Nathan almost entirely. If the boy wanted to be miserable about himself and generally hopeless despite having all the reason not to be, then he can do it without his input....

That was what I really needed to see to move on easily! Extreme Speed has Priority 2 so there should be no problems unless the dice decide to hate you beyond any probability.

Earth Guardians Round 2

Extreme Speed
(5)(5)(3)(1)(2)(5)(4)
(6)(6)(4) Gliscor faints.

Ventus and Heart also paralyze all the Pokemon.

Cottonee is revived, blinking at the dramatic aftermath of the battle.

Great Ball on Beartic.
(2)(1)(2)(6) vs
(2)(5) The bear is not rejected the way Kabutops is, but it does bust out without harming the ball.

Shiva tries again.

(4)(3)(3)(5)
(1)(2)

Beartic was caught!

After investigating the captured Pokemon, Shiva is now sure of it: this Beartic has Ground-type properties. Heart investigates too, and it is his opinion that this Ground type is a lot like having a Grass/Ghost extra type from Phantump/Pumpkaboo!

Ice/Ground*
Snow Cloak
Loyalty/Happiness 0
Disobedience 4
Superpower, Aqua Jet, Powder Snow, Icy Wind, Fury Swipes, Brine, Slash, Flail, Icicle Crash, Blizzard, Hail, Thrash.

Everyone gets 6 Xp to give to their Pokemon (split it), and takes 5XP to themselves for heroism!

Heart finally sights and recover his air trying to let out the stress of the terrible situation they are before. He feel his survival instintics a little more sharp after this almost death situation (increasing Survival from 1 to 3). He was surprise the Beartic have Ground Typing. "Oh, another Deltamon. Damn, I would like to take a look in that Delta. But first..." Then Heart make a anger face. "Someone send this pokemon to attack us, and I swear, when I find that asshole, I gonna punch him a lot of times with Rose Mach Punch, Slash him like tomato with Koa Slash then wash him to the end of the earth with Gustav Water Pulse! No one threat us like that and escape from my wrath!" Then Heart begin to make a quick search to find any signal from the damn trainer or something like that.

(Perhaps a roll of Insight+Alert+Survival?)

He doesn't see or hear anything but the dying sandstorm. However, Phantump can sense a power above you, above the frost line.

Heart almost cursed for not able to find anything but Viktor come to save the day! "You find anything Viktor?" Then Viktor points to above the frost line. "People, Viktor sense some strange power above the frost line. You was right about come here Nathan. I think we should take care of the wounds of our Pokemon before we go foward. Toughs people?"

That blinking was all Shiva needed to know! She enveloped Cottonee into a lovingly and bone-breaking hug, pressing all that fluff firmly against herself and finishing the sudden display off affection to her Starter with an honest kiss on cheek. None will seperate them. None, ever, hopefully. She didn't manage to say anything though, too delightful was she, so after another nuzzle she eventually recalled Cottone into the safety of her Pokeball. "Rest well, dear one... You deserve it. Oh, do not mind defeat, your battle partner cleaned the field for you. You deserve reward and praise, Nighshade, lots of even, but for now rest as well, alright? This is no environment for a sunny Pokemon like you are." *stroking over her leaves* "That cut here... Well, cuddle up into this fluff here, and you'll feel better soon." Nightshade gets recalled as well then, cuddled up into he fluff Primal Altaria gifted Shiva earlier.

What a delight it was to see that only(?) that Kabutops belonged to someone, that polar bear was clearly a wild one! Shiva almost ceremonically picked that Great Ball up containing another big Unovian Pokemon now before it could fall down the cliff(!!!). She curiously eyed it, pondering what to do now... Heart however, neatly stopped any train of thought and earned a STERN look from her. "That is no Delta Pokemon, Heart. It looks like a normal Beartic, like those you can see on reportages on TV. Plus, it just seems to have an additional Ground...Type...for some reason... Ventus, have you as a researcher ever heard of such a thing? Also, Heart, cushion your temper a bit, please. If the 'owner' of Kabutops is nearby, we shouldn't approach him directly but keep an eye out for their location. Uhm... Metagross, can you proceed on the way, please, up to the cave? I don't really savour staying vertically attatched to the cliff for longer than necessarily, how about we heal our Pokemon up there beyond that frostline?"

Also, 'cause Shiva already carries six Pokemon on hand, Beartic will be sent to Bill's PC.
