[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(12-23-2017, 08:13 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: @Spiritmon : If the old man is willing, you might want to give Clauncher the Ground type blessing if you can, as while 4X weakness to Grass sucks, immunity to Electric types does Not! If possible, everyone still talking/hearing the old man (Ventus certainly is tuning out whatever he can!) might want to check to see if having a ground typing might help their Pokémon greatly if that is the case!

Hmmm...nope, nothing Nathan has on hand seriously benefits from a second/third ground typing.  Besides, it seems a bit risky for most non-water pokemon.

Nathan makes no comments.  Just listens and takes notes.  Oh, the irony of the situation Ventus seems to have put himself in...

The irony is lost on me and Ventus. Care to enlighten us. mate?

Mostly just Ventus never being able to escape using the 'earthpower' and the other natural magics he despises so much.  And willfully, to boot.  And no, I don't need to hear a justification for why he does so.  Wouldn't really change the irony of the situation at all.

The Ground type would be the big draw in the trade, though (even though Beartic's only possible Ground move besides Hidden Power is Bulldoze).  Super rare typing?  Yup!  Many would be quick to call it a Delta Species (it's not, but they wouldn't know that, and they probably wouldn't believe Shiva if she insisted it wasn't.  Deltas don't have to have a different appearance from their normal versions, after all, as Holon demonstrated)

So while the Beartic is strong and such, whoever gets the Beartic will probably feel rather cheated if and when it reverts back to being pure ice type.

I was thinking here. What would happen if Cottonee would receive the ground type she could have resistance against Poison and Fire (the main enemies against Fire typing) even after she evolve into Whisimcot. She would become Grass/Fairy/Ground. At least I think. Triple typing confuses me sometimes.

I've already stated that Shiva will explain where that secondary Ground Type comes from and only give it to someone who shows interest in more than simply the rarity-aspect of the polar bear. Someone a Beartic is useful to and believes her words about Earthpower, maybe a hiker or such! Once the Ground Type fades away, this person might feel inclinged to journey to the eremit on their own to learn more/gain it back instead of being grumpy for this. I like that thought...

Ground only resists Poison, not Fire, but since Phantom said they didn't want Shiva to go back into their, that is that I suppose.

@Dragonstrike:
-Orthros could benefits from a Ground typing, as it gives it a resistance to Rock and Poison , only giving it a 4x weakness to Water in return (which is pretty bad, but removing one weakness and adding a resistance to deadily venom is appealing!).

-Eh, Ven can still reject and curse Earthpower, and can rationalize Pokémon using it as 'ok' since they are not human and don't have the same potential to misuse/be corrupted by it. That, and since he didn't know Earthpower was responsible for Pokémon Moves power and takes everything the old man with complete contempt and distrust, he'll hold his breath on believing THAT aspect if Nathan brings this to his attention. I know you didn't want to hear the justification, but eh, here it is. It doesn't change it being ironic, but it does take the sting out of it!

-That is for them to find out and be disappointed in the future, unless Shiva chooses to give a disclaimer about this sort of thing (Since she didn't hear that part of the lecture, though....)!

But it turns fire into neutral damage right? Or I wrong? Typing sometimes confuse me.

The elder will either give you a single Hurtloam to carry with you, or use two of them each on healing your Pokemon who were in the battle of testing. Shiva already used hers on Cottonee; Ventus wouldn't be offered one.

Well, that's an awfully generous gift to give, as Hurtloam is essentially a natural Revive without the downsides of a Revival Herb! Mates, I suggest taking one to carry for emergencies later on, as time will help heal everyone's Pokémon in...well, due time!

Seems that Shiva and Ven (particularly Ven) got the short end of the stick with rewards compared to Nathan and Heart, but given that Shiva already caught a Rare Pokémon that's going to sell for bundles of Poke, and Ventus was basically an mulish objector once the eremit's 'powers' come to light, that is to be expected I suppose. Besides, my character would have rejected the offer of Hurtloam on principle alone, as he wouldn't accept any aid from the old man besides what they already have provided, so I guess its ends all the same as well. He don't trust no arcane beings now!

Now all we have to do is open Kirlia's heart towards others, conquer the Skull Ruins and what lay within them, and figure out what the hecky Alamanc and The Scimitar's end goals are for the Cheshire region as a whole, and things will be all aces for us! Lot of work cut out for us, yes, but that's not a bad thing when it means more fun for all of us! Well, maybe not for our characters, but still!

...a perfectly happy and loyal fluffball! (≧◡≦)♡ Oh, thanks to GM that this became true before I thought it would... Been somewhat sure that Cottonee will reach the peak when evolving among the flowers of Elanor, by a Sun Stone her Master took efforts to obtain, and in company of other wild ones of its kind, but it seems all the attention and care I've brought up to Starter was fruitful to gain a friend for life (beyond life?) for my chara within 37 in-game-Days of playing, before even getting near Elanor.

The fact that there's no backstory for Cottonee like for example Kirlia or Raphael have (means, when obtaining Cottonee from Professor Mallorn, it was the real first time Pokemon and Master met) and no purpose like Zippy (Honey Gathering and thanking them for it constantly) makes this somewhat a tad bit more sweet for me. *cuddles imaginary Cottonee-plushie*

In Zippy's case, it's a bit more meaningful for Nathan than that.  He empathizes with Zippy a lot.  The fact that Zippy was the first to hit double 5s isn't really surprising if that's considered.

Meanwhile, Ven's most happy and Loyal Pokémon is Apsis, and she only has 4 in each despite keeping her well feed and plenty of foes to destroy! Raphael is right beside it, and the only reason they were not maxed out at this point is that they took offense/where scared when my character level that Den with the speed and brutality of the Spatnaz, which was......not nice, but reasonable.
