[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

"A Legendary? Are you sure?" She goes quiet.

(Sweeeeeet!  That maxes Orthros's Loyalty!  Whoo!)

Nathan quietly nods.  "...one hundred percent...it's...Mesprit...the Being of Emotion...sleeping behind a barrier of its own creation...waiting for Kirlia to free it..."

...

"...and with it was...a message...it...might be best if you read it yourself..."

Nathan slowly pulls out the journal his mom had given him years ago, and opens it to the page where he recorded the first part of Mesprit's message...

"...that's part one.  The second part, I wrote on the last page..."

"Well. Wow. Seeing a Creshirean Legendary is something really special. Most people don't get to do it even if they live to be a hundred. I guess Ralts really chose you for a reason." Calam nods.

"Did...did your father ever tell you anything about his search for a sighting of Legendary Pokemon?"

Can you imagine how fast I could skate if I could ice the floor as I went along? But I wish for all my Pokemon to be...special."

His control over his skating is impeccable, even in this crowded mall.

"Oh, hi. Right call. You can leave out the A. of my last name."

Yet, Shiva is somewhat sceptic (yet she didn't show that openly), as her first impression was that this young man wasn't much older that she was. Maybe even at the same age, or a few years younger. Was he...that brave to try to handle a Pokemon like a Beartic? Was he just curious, or even foolish in the end...? Eh, nope, she refused to think of the latter and give Sid a chance - after all, he did not fail to silently impress Shiva with how skillful she was at skating, even indoors at a crowded place...

"Hmm, I don't quite know how fast it really is, but if being with a person like you he'll definitely learn to be fast if you put work into it. *highlighting these words with voice* Him knowing Aqua Jet feels like a good kickstarter. Get yourself comfy if you desire to know what is so special about... Wait, where did I stuff his Ball again... Oh, right here, he's coming a Great Ball." She's keeping the Ball Beartic is contained in hand for now. Internally, she was smiling.

"Well, Nathan, many of the trainers at the time he began his journey, desired to see a Legendary. It was known that Hayes had seen one, and I guess it was just popular to, er, emulate that. Trainers would form little coalitions, sometimes, where they'd pool their knowledge and resources and try to find one. Your father actually joined a trainer coalition called the Clairvoyant Pool. Their goal was just to lay eyes on a Psychic legendary Pokemon! Unfortunately the group disbanded before ever seeing one."

At that saying and Shiva feeling like Sid was staring at her like he was waiting for a bed-time-story, she improvisational ran her from increasing nervosity sweaty hands through her clothes, before coughing, taking a breath and starting to tell. At some point, her voice automatically gained that calm and soothing tone that it often had. At some other point, Braixen and Marill cuddled up closer to her, earning them a few strokes through their fur while the story continued.

(I actually have a theme for this. The Birthday Massacre - 'Leaving Tonight', Instrumental Version' Without the somewhat unsettling lyrics, it's a quite calm and soothing piece with the feeling of departure.)

"There once was a group of four people. Four people of a different background and age, meeting up in the lab of Professor Mallorn during a stormy day in Trillium Town for the same purpose - to eventually start journeying through the region alongside their Pokemon. They had different purposes to do this, yet they hoped to get along well with one another, get to know one another, and overall enjoy their journey they'll only do once in their life as every journey, even the second one through the same region, is different."

"The group were an Ex-Policeman walking by a cane, a young Computer-Fanatic, a Sociologist that soon revealed his twisted mind, a local historican with an occassionally too strong will, and a young woman with a faible for nature and Fairies. As time flowed downwards like an eternal river, group members left while new members introduced themselves to the group. By now, they are a group of five. Five people, dealing and battling their way... Along the way, friendships formed, friendships broke, happy moments were shared, arguments occured, various Pokemon have been caught, Pokemon evolved, Gym Battles have been held and won, adventure was lurking around every corner for them..."

"...until they were faced with a mission. A mission brought to them... One that is relatively unimportant for now, please don't ask further. The thing is, time was ticking for the group... They knew it was, and they also knew what will happen if they fail. They were like the only hope. They traveled further, aside from their planned path, until they reached the village located at the very SouthWest of Chresire. This was their first stop on their path. Eventually, the elusive Southern Wind Incarnate lended them her aid, flying them up to the Great Divide on her breeze. Her fluffy wings were like clouds."

"They kept on traveling, sped up by the Incarnate's Tailwind and powered up by their will kept closely in their hearts, until they reached the very Western end of the Great Divide: The Tusk. The Ends of the Earth and the Beginning of the Land. That was their destination - success and help were so close they could almost grip it."

"They had to climb the Tusk. They did, with the help of Metagross, but they didn't reach the tip of the Tusk as a group of Pokemon suprised them! They had to battle their way through them! ...They did, and they did well. That was the time Beartic has been caught." Shiva grips the minimized Great Ball a little tighter at these words.

"That Beartic was no ordinary Unovian polar bear - It has a secondary Ground Typing, one it can normally not have. It's not a Delta Pokemon as you will see that it looks like an ordinary Beartic. It has no Ground Type Moves either until you give him a TM or such, sadly, but you'll notice that the power of these moves is greater than on a normal Beartic. Antares has the ability to control the earth to his will, this is what makes him special."

"Now where does that Type come from? ...Earthpower. No, not the move that bears this name. What is it then? Earthpower is within all of us. Go to the cave at the top of the Tusk at the Western End of the Great Divide, you will know when you see it. It's like an invisible force, inner strength that blooms into beautiful colors if given time and care. And notion. It connects us all, people and Pokemon, it's not magic or trickery - It's nature herself. The earth. The soil. Nothing more, but nothing less. Of course one can choose to ignore this all and just keep living one's life like before, but isn't the thought somewhat soothing? That there's a natural strength lying dormant within us, yet we can be sure it is there? I don't know about you, Sid, but that's how it feels for me. By trading away this Beartic to someone listening and pondering over this story, someone that feels worthy, I'm spreading the word. I've been told to use my Pokemon to bless the earth and soil, and I'm asking you to tell people about it, share the story of the traveling group and their encountering of Earthpower if they ask about Antares and where you got him from. That'd be all."

"... Now, what are your thoughts? Any questions? Do you feel like you have what it takes to handle my Beartic bearing this earthpower in every vein running through his body? Also important, what do you have to give me in return from my Beartic?"

Shiva herself had to lean back now against the wall, sighing impercible while her magical fox and blue fae-mouse were still close to her. Nightshade has been recalled by now. She had to barely noticably catch up on her breath as she wasn't too used to speak so many words in one go, now she began to feel a tad bit uncomfortable from doing so. Patiently and somewhat nervously waiting, she awaited Sid's answer(s) now.

Also, while she was waiting, she couldn't help but to feel like she has heard about a youth with an incredibly skill in skating listening to the name of Sid... Oh, right. Nathan has mentioned him towards her quite a while ago! It amused her. ^-^

"Wow! That is a much better telling of the story than I anticipated. (+1 XP) It only makes me want to train this Beartic more. Tell me, who is the one who instructed you to spread the word of Earthpower? For I have been to the Tusk, though it is an exceptionally long journey for me now, and it was long ago that I visited."

"...oh.  Well, maybe that's why he never said anything about it...not a terribly exciting story, is it?"

...

"...ironic, though, isn't it?  Hayes has Latias, but they can't find Latios no matter where they look...I've seen Mesprit, been given a task by it after it's been waiting hundreds of years for me specifically...and it's not even something I want to be involved in, really...Azelf, Uxie...they're not even findable right now...Uxie left the region when Sarimanok fell, and Azelf disappeared without a trace after it was seen in some kind of hurry..."

...

"...I...I don't want to let Mesprit and everyone else down, but...I didn't ask for this..."

"Your father always said that Legendary Pokemon aren't like in the stories. They never recruit a Chosen One, a single trainer on whom all their hopes rest, especially not without the permission of the trainer. He said the good and neutral Legendaries have always been very respectful of human choice, even taking it to an illogical extreme sometimes. Look at this prophecy. There are many ways you could interpret it, it seems to me. I bet that's the Pokemon leaving its options open. And maybe none would understand that better than the Pokemon of Emotion."
