[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

EA is kinda iffy according to Solomon.  And the main symbol for R isn't in there, which is why I was a little iffy on it being EARTH.

The last two can be combined to make an H.  Or they could be seperate and be an I and a U, though that'd be a rather weird combo in most cases.

Something cool I saw they were working on was a CLASH command, where you could use your declared offensive move to try to stop an opponent's move. Sounds super dramatic and awesome, though I have no idea how you'd do it on forums.

Not quite as useful in this system since all the pokemon just work off the trainer's stats.  It is a cool idea in concept though.  Allows those slower, bulkier pokemon to try and dodge some damage if they can't evade.

But yeah, again, anime like stuff primarily.  Best we'd probably be able to manage on a forum is setting up conditional orders, like we've commonly been doing with evasion.

I remember reading about that as well, but I simply believe unless that you have a really powerful move or are REALLY strong yourself, using Clash is not as good alt to just tanking damage and hitting back, or Evading if you have the DEX/Evasion . Its why I haven't brought it up until you have, tbh. If you want to implement it, you could have it conditionally based, like for example : 'If opponent uses that really strong/annoying move, use your strongest move to blunt the damage!' and vice versa for us.

Yeah, evading is just outright better if you can pull it off, since they're both all or nothing for their effects.  Clash is for the big, strong, slow pokemon, Evade is for the nimble ones that can't afford to take a hit.

It's kinda like how battles in the anime work, which is what they were trying to go for.

And thats helps a lot since you can give a order like: "Percival if the enemy use any super effective attack (aka ground or Fighting) use protect!" This kinda helps a lot.

I just want it to look cool, I don't care if it's good lol.

What I have been doing is using descriptions to justify rolls. If the opponent rolls (1)(2)(1) for damage, maybe it's because your Snorlax's Body Slam clashed with the opponent, anime style.

I definitely like seeing that.  Makes the battles feel a little more lively.

I...I can actually heartily agree to that sentiment!~ If something that can be done in battle adds dramaturgy and awesomeness, there is a high chance I want to do that, whether it's useful in competitive viewpoint is only secondary. Evading doesn't really fit to her developing battlestyle neither to the concept Shiva is following (but very well to her Kadabra). Most of her battles are done for fun and experimenting, apart from the few battles she really takes seriously. Like Gym Battles.

Also, just for information, estimation and planning I thought I'd share the plans for the rest of my in-game Day:

- Next up: Talking and spending time with Kyuu.
- Afterwards, Training Session for some new moves. I'm...sorry that you somewhat cannot be present to pick up Tutoring on your own here, Windos, unless you magically appear during lunch break or so :C Same that you're somewhat on hold now due to us. Shiva will start working at the Shelter the next in-game Day, so they can actually go there together then and stuff.
- ...battle against Nathan. Little Cup Rules. Take your time to arrive at the agreed meeting point, Dragon.
- That'd be all Encounter Slots for the day then.

Dunno how far we'll come today, Iron.
