[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

I know, I do look forward to see my magical fox using Fire Pledge because not only is a move that origins from Unova (it's been introduced in Gen.5 at first, after all), but also because it's practically fire magic.

Chicorita has her very own niche with Razor Leaf and her helpfulness in growing berries and herbs when Shiva settles down within the region.

I should make it a habit of having them present during Gym Battles when possible. Including their Master's.

And I'm totally looking forward to when Forthright can start manipulating the sun and hail herself and start exploiting them to her benefit while supporting some of Nathan's other pokemon.  Those are going to be fun times.

Meanwhile, I'm patiently waiting for the opportunity to teach Ao Guang Rain Dance, so that he can truly live up to his nameshake as Dragon King of the Seas! Lucifer and Michael also stand to benefit from Rain, since it powers up Hurricane into dangerously accurate levels, while shroombro appreciates Fire types not getting to land SE damage on him no more! Also Ariel could benefit from Rain, but I've honestly not been paying to much attention to her ever since Ven ditched her at the Daycare.

Also, now we have three (unique) Fire type starter pokemon in the party...one water type one as well (two former party members both had an Oshawott each as well, but they're long gone for now)...and one grass, though Chikorita's far from being super usable currently...

Still, looking forward to when we get those Pledge moves, since Iron has something special planned for them! And maybe that will be a good reason to use Chikorita a little, too!

Unfortunately I'll be completely left out of that little event, due to having zlitch in terms of Pokémon that can naturally learn the move, unless Iron decides to be magnanimous. Michael having Grass Pledge would certainly be a neat thing to have in their arsenal, and having a Field Move that lowers Dex on non Grass and Airborn targets is a neat bonus as well.

Of the three Pledges...hmmm...Fire Pledge is probably the most spammable one.  Its effect specifically says it does Fire damage at the end of the round, so pokemon that resist the type or have Flash Fire should be fine.  Water Pledge acting like Serene Grace is rather spammable too, but that could easily bite you just as hard as your opponent depending on what moves everyone is using...

Grass Pledge seems like a really weird one.  -1 Dex for everyone affected...considering that's a battlefield effect, does that include the user?  The move seems a little difficult to use...

They're also all area attacks, so the moves are REALLY risky to use outside of single battles without the appropriate type resistances/immunities on the Pledge user's partners...

EDIT: Oh yeah, right. Valder also has a Froakie. Almost forgot about him again.

The part about the Pledge moves I'm certainly enjoying most is that In PokeRole, they don't need to be combined to get the differing added effect of the sea of fire, the swamp and the rainbow over the field.

Hmmm...I wonder if Iron has something planned for the elemental Hyper Beams as well? It'd be fun to see Blast Burn, Hydro Cannon, and Frenzy Plant at some point too.

Yeah, definitely removes a lot of the gimmick factor from them since you can use them in single battles.  Of course, they're also single target attacks in the games, not area affecting moves...but it's a change that makes sense since their effects affect the entire battlefield, so why not the damage as well?

Yeah, that's one thing I like about Pokerole: They are not afraid to make little tweaks and changes in order to make things better for a board game experience! Only change I don't like that I can recall on the top of my head would be Huge Power and Pure Power being nerfed into the ground, but I guess doubling a Pokémon's Strength score would have been a wee too much for the game....

Also, waiting for Nathan to finish up his business at the Shelter, and start the Conversation with Ventus, @Dragonstrike!

Ah, okay.  Well, lemme type something up in a moment, then...

Oh, and are we going to wait for Phantom so Shiva can get in on this as well if she wishes?

Oh yeah, that's a pretty good idea right their, mate! No need to leave Shiva out of the loop unless she wants to, since her presence could solve more problems than not!
