When Nathan FINALLY manages to get Charmeleon to calm down and hand back the gym badge, it's actually in a fairly clever way.

He sits down and talks with Charmeleon about what happened during the gym battle itself.

"Yeah, I just came from the gym.  Orthros got flattened pretty quickly by an Earthquake, but he took it like a champ and burned the mole with Flamethrower!  A small contrubution, but an important one.  It made finishing Excadrill off a lot easier later.  And then there was her Probopass, and her golden Magnezone...I'll introduce you to the pokemon I used later.  They're currently resting off the damage Dagny dealt to them."

Nathan sits there with Charmeleon for awhile, just talking.  About several things.

"...I was starting to doubt myself until recently, you know.  Thought I wasn't able to be as strong as I needed to be...there's always room for improvement, obviously, but...*sigh*...there's a lot of responsibility on my shoulders...I think I can meet the expectations...I hope I can...defeating Dagny and doing other things recently...maybe I can do it...I have to believe I can...and with the help of you, Kirlia, and my other pokemon, I think the odds I can are pretty good...I think..."

Of course, there's also introductions to the pokemon Nathan has on hand.

"He's been hanging back, but this is Kirlia.  He's my best friend in the whole wide world.  This is Forthright.  She's young yet, but I hope for her to grow into using sunlight and clear skies to her advantage one day. And this is Swiftfire...oh, come on, girl, show at least a little interest?  No?  Okay, how about demonstrating your Inferno for Charmeleon instead?"

It's all quite relaxing for Nathan, just spending some time to bond with his new fire lizard.  Though he hadn't expected the horse and the lizard to start trying to one up each other on who has the stronger fire moves...

...something which Forthright seemed to find entertaining.

Yule, of course, is watching, but wisely chooses not to voice his opinion that Swiftfire has the more impressive flames...don't want to anger the ill tempered lizard, after all...

Once it's all said and done, Nathan's feeling a little better.  Still has a slight cold, but it's settled down a little once more.  All that fire and rest today seems to have helped.

He's waiting on one of the benches outside of the Shelter for Ventus.  Shiva had finished her shift earlier and was still hanging around for some reason...Nathan had been too busy trying to keep Swiftfire and Charmeleon under control to really pay too much attention to what exactly she was doing. Can't have a rivalry between Fire types result in buildings burning down, after all.

...he's got a feeling that whatever's going to happen during this chat, it's going to be unpleasant for everyone involved...

Sorry Shiva, I thought you and Heart were going to have more to say. I think you've given me enough info that I can move on with Grumpig though.

Grumpig, Heart, and Shiva go outside. Shiva borrows some instruments from Heart and lays them out while Braixen croons a tune to Grumpig's rhythm.

Perform: (6)(2) This time, he has no problem matching rhythms. Grumpig gets up and starts to dance again. He grabs the drum and starts pounding on it! Yes! This is it, awesome! He looks way more happy now.

Director North comes by. "Oh! Was that the problem? He needed a creative outlet? I can bring in a barrel and a drumskin and tomorrow I can have you build Grumpig a drum, if you're feeling crafty. Maybe you could produce makeshift instruments for any of the Pokemon who are so inclined, and they can form a band!"

Mission accomplished!

It was certainly fun and a tad bit weird to watch how that Grumpig has not only started to cast his manipulative dance again, but also expressed the rythm that kept him occupied via that drum. Doesn't matter though, if that psychic piggy was doing way better, Shiva was doing so as well.

That was visible when Director North came by. "Oh, eh... Yes, it seems like he was simply unable to express some sort of tune he has stuck in his mind as well as channel some of his energy, which was sure to cause him becoming more agressive than usual. Maybe he was just bored here in the Shelter as well, given he's not here yet for so long... But certainly I can spend my half day tomorrow crafting instruments and similar for the Pokemon who'd enjoy making some music, if the weather's nice I'd even be happy take them outside to find suitable material on their own." She was kinda enjoying the thought of leaving them a fun reminder on her, MAYBE she'd even be able to stroke that small Stunky goodbye with these poison-resistant gloves, but at the same time she couldn't help but to feel a little melancholic that her work at the Shelter will end tomorrow with the adoption of Gothitelle, and the group will certainly want to depart to Cress City... To be honest though, she wanted too. She paused before saying one last sentence to Director North: "I'll come back to you tomorrow again before I'll go to meet Gothitelle."

Next: Where's Lil' Freddy, the one Shiva always has handed the fruit her Tropius grows at the end of her workshift? Today the fruit she'll give to him are spiced with a friendly battle request. (Further conditions will come up once knowing he agrees to battle.)

He agreed to a friendly battle, hooray! Shiva's Pokemon has learned so many new moves lately that she's practically itching to try some of them out, as well as a trial to se what her Tropius is capable of... He can remain at the green roof until it'll be his turn in this battle.

Oh right, she also does notice Nathan is nearby and waiting for someone... Maybe Ventus? Did he come here to the Shelter in the end? Hmm... She waves towards Nathan, while simultaneously gesturing that she'll 1. be busy for a little longer and 2. she has noticed his new Fire Type, she recognizes it as the one from the Shelter. Huh, what a nice suprise.

Let's see, battle conditions...*draws notes* 4vs4 Double, no fainting, I actually counted 700$ as a wager but if that's not possible I'll agree to have Freddy only pay half of that to me shall I win (I'll pay full shall I loose) - if it's really not possible @Iron, accepting these 400$ as wager instead, no weather changing abilities, no pure Fire Types, no healing items, no poisoning of the foe.
