[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Quote:...

Welp, better kill some time while he waits for a response...

Training session for Forthright, Porygon-Z, and Pulse!  Porygon-Z is doing some Conversion practice (is now a good time to progress that to stage 2: a random type from the moves Porygon-Z knows?), Pulse is being its usual mischievous self and practicing Trick every so often despite Nathan's suggestion to practice Blizzard (which is probably distracting Porygon-Z somewhat, since it looks like a move it might have a lot of fun using), and Forthright...well, the intention was to try and see what she can learn about the power of Ice, but Pulse isn't cooperating, so Forthright's probably laughing at Nathan's expense whenever Trick happens instead.

Ah, the joys of training disobedient pokemon, right?

PorygonZ keeps converting to Psychic type, though it doesn't seem to help him use Trick. Nathan eventually realizes this is not quite random: Conversion is always converting him to Psychic, Normal, or Dark type!

Ven gives Dagney an appraising look as she sends out her star Magnezone, contemplating how to react and shut it down accordingly. "Not holding your Bullet Punches anymore if your sending your Magnezone out, I see. I'll try not to disappoint you in that case then! Abaddon, Safeguard on the double, then endear yourself to it with your Charming looks!Let's see if you can counter their electromagnetic force my child!"

Orders: Only doing two orders this round, which will be Safeguard (Discharge/Thunder Wave will NOT Paralyze my Pokémon!), and Charm (debuffs are always important you know!), and then wait for the next round to start. Slow and steady wins the race!

Moves:

Safeguard
Accuracy: 9D6 Base Dice - 2 Actions = 7D6 Dice
Effect: Anti Status for 4 Rounds!

Charm
Accuracy: 8D6 Base Dice - 3 Actions = 6D6 Dice
Effect: Known

Safeguard is definitely a wise choice as Magnezone comes barreling across the field, lightning leaping out to touch the steel walls.

Gym Leader Dagny vs Ventus Round 7

Safeguard 1
(2)(5)(4)(5)(3)(5)(2)

"I thought Safeguard would be your move, if Wobbuffet stayed out. Gym Leaders around the world tremble when they see a Wobbuffet!" She's only partially kidding.

Flash Cannon 1
9 canalize dice, -4 actions = 5d6
(4)(6)(4)(4)(5) Critical hit!
3 Str + 3 power + 1 STAB + 2 crit -5 = 4d6
(2)(4)(4)(1) Wobbuffet takes 2 dmg and eats his Oran Berry. 7/9hp -1 pain.
Chance: (6) -1 def for Wobbuffet as he squints his eyes to their squintiest!

Charm 2
(3)(2)(1)(6)(4)
-2 Str for Magnezone, though the stoic Pokemon gives no indication of being charmed.

Flash Cannon 2
(3)(3)(2)(5)
1* Str + 3 power +1 stab -4* vit = 1d6
(5) Wobbuffet takes 1 dmg 6/9hp

Flash Cannon 3
(4)(2)(1)
(3)

Flash Cannon 4
(4)(3)
(4) Wobbuffet takes 1 dmg 5/9hp

Magnezone spins in place, firing off a volley of electric/steel attacks. They hit Wobbuffet, spinning him around too, but hardly getting through his thick defenses. He looks ready to strike back.

"The risk of my star Pokemon moving faster rather paid off, as you selected the opposite approach and did nothing to weaken Magnezone's accuracy. I think your choices will quickly serve you in good stead, though."

"I'm well aware of your Magnezone's propensity to using Discharge, and the species as a whole has several ways to inflict Paralysis on a target, so I only thought it would be prudent to err on the safe side. As for the accuracy, that will be sorted out in due time one way or another, my friend, so worry not about it," Ventus casually responded, his serenity now abandoned for a more conversational approach to the Steel Wonder. Regardless of the outcome of this battle he considered it good challenging sport rather than a conflict he must win at all costs, so friendliness/slightly snarky attitude and a lack of composure costs him nothing in this case!

"My child, let Magnezone hear the should of your roaring applause, before fully preparing to reflect all damage back at it with Mirror Coat! If you are close to Fainting, however.......make sure to take them down with you, Abaddon. Deny them with all your might, and prevail!"

Order: Abaddon will use Encore to lock Magnezone into Flash Cannon, before using Mirror Coat 2 times this round, and 3 times in the rounds after this one. If/When the Blue Demon reach 2 HP or Lower, replace the appropriete Mirror Coat he has with Destiny Bond, and continue the sequence afterwards (Ideally at the start of a round!). Can Abaddon survive the Steely assault of that overgrown magnet? Let's find out!

Moves:

Encore
Accuracy: 8D6 Base - 3 Actions - 1 Pain = 4D6 Dice
Effect: Known

Mirror Coat
Accuracy: 9D6 Base - 4/5 Actions (3/4/5 Actions in the next round) - 1 Pain = 4/3D6 Dice (4/3/2 Dice in the next round)
Damage: 3D6 Dice

Destiny Bond
Accuracy: Presumably 9D6 Dice - whatever Action its used at - 1 Pain = 8D6 - 3/45 Actions
Effect: If user Faints, so does Target

The Natural Sage brightly smiles when Dageny's praises his overall battle stratagem, and bashfully rubs the back of his head after he recalls his fallen demon, looks at the Pokeball in his head and says to it/Abaddon: "Well done, my child. Rest easy, knowing you have ensure my victory," before putting it way.

"Ah, well, my deepest thanks for such admiration, my friend! My success with such lockdown and attrition strategies mainly boils down to two individual yet tightly linked things: knowing thyself and the enemy to the fullest extent, and knowing how both will put their resources to best use. So long as I keep those things in mind and meticulously plan out my Actions, rarely do I find myself outmaneuvered or played in any engagement! Besides, if Destiny Bond had not landed, I would have sent out Haneal in his place to wall Magnezone, which at that point the battle would more or less be concluded in my favor, so do not feel overly bad about its defeat at the hands of my child."

After he said this, he promptly summoned his brother Michael back into the fray, and judging by the eager, almost predatory look he was giving the snoozing metal monster, he was ready to this brawl decisively in his favor, ORAH! "Be that as it may, I rather give the honor of defeating your Lairon to my brother Michael, as its only fair and proper that he is the one to finish what he started with them! With that in mind, Michael, do not leash your Strength for any longer and pummel them with your blindingly mighty fists! This is it, my brother! Show them that you shall be the victor!"

Order: 3 Mach Punch per round, until Lairon is good and Fainted, which with 3 HP left should be a cinch! Even if Dagney wakes them up to use Metal Burst, its too late for her to put it to any good use! Time to FINISH THEM!!!

Move:

Mach Punch
Accuracy: 9D6 Base Accuracy - 3/4/5 Actions - 1 Pain = 5/4/3 Dice
Damage: 1D6 + 2 Damage
Effect: *Priority 1*

"I never feel bad about defeat or victory. My job is to test, and I will always do it to the best of my ability. When it comes to a life-or-death battle....I do not lose."
Her accompaniment of Magnemite buzz threateningly.
She sprays a Full Heal.

"Go! Lairon! Metal Burst!"

Mach Punch 1
(6)(1)(4)(5)(3)

The two Pokemon meet, and the explosion makes the metal gym ring out! When the dust clears, Michael is the only one on his feet. He's rubbing the knuckles on his right hand. Soon, purple ooze has healed his bruises as Dagny wheels forward to congratulate you.

Ventus gains 22/11XP and $800.

"You and your friends are getting stronger, forged in the fires of adversity and adventure. I do not think your party will struggle in defeating normal trainers any longer, and soon even Gym Leaders will be a cakewalk. You've reached a higher tier of strength and experience. Take this Ankerite Badge to prove it!"

"Well said, Dangey. Well said. I follow a similar philiosophy in my life: whenever something you care about is on the line, do whatever it takes to ensure its safety. Fortunately for us, this in neither here nor their to test our ideals, so let us simply enjoy this battle as you said it was: a test of our skills and dedication towards our Pokemon!"

As he said raised one hand, clenched it into a fist, before throwing it and re-opening in an explosive fashion! This was it! The penultimate clash of wills, the Steel Wonder vs the Natural Sage!!! Who would be the one to prevail?!

(...)

When the dust settled to revealed his brother Michael was standing proud and tall, a fierce grin of utter happiness appeared on Ventus's , before he rushed over to scoop his shroombro up and gave them a great big fist bump to congratulate them on then knock out victory, and a solid friendly thump on the back while he was at it! "Michael, you Strength has one more brought us triumph on the battle field! Once I've healed Abaddon, I'm taking you both out somewhere nice to dine for all hard effort the both of you put forth till this moment, and hopefully beyond! You've earned that much and more my brother, and I grateful I have you as a part of my family! Thank you!"

Once that bro moment has passed and his other stern but still very much appreciated friend amply rewarded him with both material and mental wealth, which he took with a firm nod and a toned down but still delight smile. "On behalf of myself and my friend, I thank you Dagney. For trusting us with so much responsibility, for being so patient and generous, and for simply for being a wonderful person. I suppose that's why the people call you the Steel Wonder, eh?"

Ven left out a small chuckle at his friendly batter as he took all that was giveness and safely tucked away, before his expression became a bit more.....serious.

"Dagney, if you have the time, can I request a private, secure meeting with you? I wish to consult with you about something that should be relevant to both our interests, the information of which best remains.....quiet."

"I...I'll see what I can do! I'll show them to you at first for approval before handing it to the Pokemon will be it." >///< With that being said, she finally left the office having weirdly mixed feelings about that task - she knows she should be able to make it if she puts her heart into it (not literally), but the trusting in her own skills is yet a bit too weak for her to be optimistic and confident. It luckily won't prevent her from trying her best to end her agreement with Director North to obtain Gothitelle in blast! This thought was driving her subliminally, and soon that not-too-pleasant run-in with Kirlia resided.

Thank Reshir- Arceus that there's a PC at the Shelter, so that Shiva could easily swap around in her party to have a Pokemon with a a matching move/skill/trait with her shall she need it. The whole time though, she keeps Cottonee and Marill outside Pokeball for the sake of lending her a calming atmosohere/a Helping Hand and her Huge Power during the crafting session, as well as Spritzee around for that sweet aroma she was emitting and to get her used to being around Shiva and her other Pokemon companions. The young fae can nap as much as she wants and where she wants. (This includes snuggled in her Cottonee's fluff if the wad of cotton allows)

A little more than a half hour passes as Shiva is investigating the backroom with all the materials she could/is supposed to use, carefully trying no hurt herself, any of her Pokemon or accidently breaking anything she could have made good use of. Hmm... Given that it's so apparent that one barrel relatively early catches her eye - how lucky, it's even complete, no cracks or such!

In a big cardboard boy covered in a thin layer or dust (that was easily blown away with a Fairy Wind) there were also old metal cans, probably from Pokemon Food. Why the Shelter has kept these Shiva doesn't know, but luckily they were lacking a sharp or jagged rim  and looked clean and good.

Finally, there's the personal favourite, a

After some cleaning up is done, Shiva and all her Pokemon take a look at what they created... Well, it worked decently, she hoped Director North would approve them as well. She'd show them to him at first before they'll be brought to the Pokemon.

(If this creating session shall include any rolls, I have nothing against them being added, but given that she has these currently 3 Points in Crafts and her Pokemon's help I just typed the whole process out from the start to the finished intrument.)
