[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

Ralts probably isn't bothered at all by Azrael, being a Fairy.  With Hypnosis.  If things get out of hand, he could fix that very easily.  Furret's probably paying some attention to what Ventus is doing with the newborn, as established already.  Don't think Forthright would particularly care atm, so long as she's still getting attention from Nathan, Furret and Ralts. Of course, if Azrael starts acting like a hyper aggressive dragon with an attitude instead of a cute baby dragon, reactions are going to be vaaastly different.

A look of realization passes across Ven's face as the young scholar fully informed him of that conversation, before he smiled and let out a friendly + amused chuckle, covering his mouth with his hand as he did so. "Ah, now I understand. Yes, its is a rather fitting name for such a gifted, skilled breeder like Shiva, hmm? '[Loving and nurturing one to all beholden to her]' is a even more fitting honorific for them, but it doesn't undermine or devalue his own, nor did he know her well enough to come up with it himself. '[Speak not what you ill conceive, but instead what comes from the heart, and treat all others fairly regardless],' as they might say," he says in an friendly tone of voice, fluidly transitioning between Common and Japanese with ease with a faint aura of charmed appreciation tinging his mood as he spoke (All Language in [ ] is Japanese for Ventus). Normally the sociologist would stick to soley speaking in Common, as that was the universal language of the world, but hearing the honorific inspired him, so to speak. Wonder if Nathan can understand those parts....?

Yeah, Nathan can understand it.  He's read up on 'Japanese' honorifics before.  And Creshire has its fair share of people who speak the language.  (Would it even be called Japanese in this universe?) He's by no means fluent in speaking it, but he can definitely understand it.

What confuses him is how Ventus knows the language so well.  It's commonly spoken in Tohjo, Hoenn, and Sinnoh (the regions based on Japanese locations).  Orre, Unova, and Alola have 'English/Common' (based on locations in the US), and Kalos has 'French' (which is probably just called Kalosian in universe if the naming scheme stays the same). Tandor isn't really based on any one area of the world as far as I know, so let's just say they either speak Common or Tandorian (which is probably a mix of a few different languages).

No further comments from Nathan right now, but only because he's surprised/confused.

Furret is at the point where she'll let Nathan touch her as much as he wants.

Most of the smaller Pokemon are uncomfortable around Azrael. She's a dark type and a dragon type, and prone to headbutting them. They are like a cat meeting a large friendly puppy. However, Ventus' Pokemon haven't had any kind of incident since Corsage Port or so, so they trust Ventus can control his Pokemon until proven otherwise.

Every region speaks Common. 95% of the world does. Only extremely isolated pockets don't know Common, like some of the Mamo.
Most regions have their own tongue, too, which is a cultural tongue. It's mostly used within a family or community, and never used in Pokemon battles without special training. Creshire doesn't really have a cultural tongue unless you count Mamo. Creshire has been taken over so many times that using Common is the only solution to the melting pot here.

English is not Common, and some of Creshire's ancestors did speak English as a cultural tongue.

Tandor's cultural language would be something like Portuguese, as I believe it is inspired by Brazil where JV lives. South American.

<region>ese or Japanese are both acceptable names for these cultural languages. "Japanese" is just a stand-in for whatever the Common word for such a tongue is. You know, in Japan they call it Nihongo, it looks like. In Common, it would be something else, which we understand as "Japanese."

Hopefully that makes some sense.

This happens after the meeting.

Ventus successfully bags four Patrat and hauls them the long, long way to the Candelabra, which is almost in Stair City. We're looking at about 8 out of 16 daylight hours having passed.

When he comes to the last surviving Arch, he hears shuffling inside. Peering around the arch from within the shadows, (and wearing a silly mask), Ventus sees a Ruin Maniac inside. He's crawling around the base of the Candelabra on hands and knees, poking it or brushing it with a brush. No sign of any Pokemon, though the Candles occasionally light up. As Ventus watches, he begins packing up a bunch of papers (with the cave drawings on them, and other symbols), journals, and stone samples in a case.

Gotcha.

Guess that makes Nathan's confusion even more warranted, if barely anybody speaks 'Japanese' in the first place!

Barely anyone speaks it as their primary language. But they might learn it in school or to watch anime.

Mentally cursing to find someone else has decided to do their own investigations of the Candelabra, Ventus never the less stays perfectly still and concealed in the shadows/a position that conceals him from the Ruin Maniac while he can watch them, waiting for them to either bugger off altogether or Chandelure to ghost onto the scene. After all, they appeared the last time after the group departed from this camber, so chances are it would rear its ugly body again to prey on the unsuspecting man.....

Order: Wait out the Man, or until Chandelure shows up, where upon Ven will confront it and engage in a regular battle with it. He'll make the effort to catch it if the man is still around and watching by any means, silently ignoring them entirely unless they have something pertinent to say/are insistent, and giving out all commands in a voice different from his own. He'll then exits Mt. Sentry into Stair, go the Center if needed, and then Teleport to the mountain tarn that the group was at ages ago if possible with Chandelure in tow, before he releases them and murders them by drowning if Fainted, or KO them and then drown them to death. My chara's only interested in revenge right now, so whatever that Ruin Maniac is doing is completely uninteresting to him, save for the fact he's wasting their time unintentionally and being an unknown variable.

Chandelure doesn't appear. But two Litwick briefly show up, right out of the flames. They land on the man's outstretched hands - he looks confused but curious. Then he goes about in a frenzy, unpacking his notebook and scribbling down a bunch more things, all while laughing loudly. "Aha! Ahahaha! Yes, yes, this is it!"

The Litwick start to fade away again as soon as he starts this.
