[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
All that I don't type in blue is stuff that happens after the battle against Heart, like the following.

Regardless who eventually won this clashing of Pokemon that have been trained by Shiva and Heart respectfully, it was very obvious that this battle was one that she won't forget that easily. Whether she keeps in a good or bad aftertaste is something that's yet written in the stars though (I'll edit this part after the battle if I haven't forgotten by then.)

One way or the other, she gives him a weak punch on the shoulder for that battle experience, acompanied by a soft-spoken "Th...Thank you for that battle, Heart... We can repeat that at some point certainly, eventually, maybe... Hehe... Uhm...." She withdraws her hand again, looking a bit insecure. "You want to come to the Center too? We can surely head there together, leaving our Pokemon to be healed up there."

*******

Said and done and Heart waved goodbye for now, Shiva would step to the counter again, letting a Nurse Joy know "I'll stick close to the Center for now, so could you...well, let me know as soon as Azumarill has be healed up and expressed readiness for another battle? Not an overly hard battle, but I wanted to take her to the Pagoda and if I'm lucky send her out against one of the Kimonogirl's Eeveelutions. So, uhm, will she be fine until noon? ....She will? Oh my... Thank you, really. Until then, okay?" With that said, leaves the counter but doesn't go far as she stops by the PC, withdrawing some Pokemon that I can't name as it'd spoiler what I'm not using against Heart's Pokemon to her hands to fill in the gaps the Pokemon Heart has defeated have left in her team of six.

For the time until half an hour before noon, Shiva simply spends some time outside by the Center, reading in the book about runereading and Earth Lore, petting and grooming her Pokemon, watching the people coming by as well as these Furrets, looking forward to and being nervous about the evening with Ventus, and pondering whatelse she wants to do in town. Rather soon, the time has come to thankfully accept Azumarill back fromNurse Joy, releasing the blue fae rabbit at once and cuddling her tight, which she exploited to snuggle hard into her Master's hair and eventually pulling a 50$coin from her ear, showing that she was all her old self again. Shiva couldn't help but to be stunned by Azu's antics everytime, and increased the hug once more after she examinated the coin, figured out it was a real one, and packed it away. "My, you're a blessing, Azu... Is that your thanks for me making you so happy? Please never stop being so cute, okay?"

Together, meaning side by side, Master and Pokemon make their way to the Pagoda now, Shiva was constantly checking the time on cell - she'll arrive there 15 minutes before the clock turns noon if nothing goes amiss, which was an ideal time for her. As soon as she found a good seat and Azu got comfortable on her lap, nervosity did lurk up within her alongside the anticipitation to see the Tea Ceremony and especially Sylveon and Eevee again - will her name be drawn this time? She couldn't know, but she'll find out rather soon. Her fascination over Sylveon will make her to accept the same tea sample as this morning, which was one that surely contained a sugarcube slipped in by that Fairyeevee. Speaking of the morning, now she felt refreshed and awake in contrary to then, meaning she can witness the Tea Ceremony and ask possible questions in full attention and even find some details she has missed this morning.

--------------------
Mechanics:
Go the Center with Heart, heal my Pokemon up asking for Azumarill being priority, before spending some casual and quality time with some other Pokemon of hers before she'll accept Azu back and head to the Pagoda to witness the Tea Ceremony of the noon. If her name gets drawn to battle a Kimonogirl, she'll introduce Azumarill as her Pokemon of choice, meaning that you can roll for the Eeveelution she'll face as well as Init Order all in one post, Iron!~ Instructions will come as a PrivateMessage, as there's something specific I'd like to do for the first Round.

(Quick note: I'd actually like to hear how Solomon and Furret react to the majority of these topics as well)

Creshire Museum: Professor Oak's Laboratory - Pokemon Firered/Leafgreen

...what?

...why is there a branch on Almanac of all things here?  Cress City is the LAST place Nathan would have expected them to be in...

- ...bah, as loathe as he is to visit it, he IS curious about what it's doing here and how Almanac even took hold in this region in the first place...so a quick stop to the Almanac exhibit seems to be in order.  Ralts is gonna hate being there, though, so in his Premier Ball he goes for the (hopefully short) duration.

- Well, if Nathan's looking for information on these gravestones and what those phrases might mean, the Mt. Sentry exhibit is probably a good place to start.  Furret oughta especially enjoy that.  She'd also probably enjoy the Cress City exhibit, so that's gonna get a visit too.

- Skull Ruins and Sarimanok exhibits definitely need a trip as well.  He needs to gather all the info he can on those topics.

- Hidden Machines sounds cool.  Carvanha and Sharpedo are known Divers on occassion, and they're often used as excellent Surfers and Waterfallers as well around the world (no Surfer is faster than a Sharpedo, after all!  Not nearly as comfortable as a Lapras, though...).  Sure, they're typically not the LEGENDARY HMs themselves that the piranha/shark pokemon are using, but even the weaker varieties are awesome for traveling.

- Meteor Wing...Deyo FLowers.  They HAVE to be in there somewhere.  Yet another topic Nathan wants to learn more about due to semi-current events...and this'll probably be a sufficient apology to Ralts for the Almanac exhibit visit, considering his interest in the Deyo Flowers. Heck, maybe he'll find something relating to the mythical Deox...nah, that'd be silly, right? Nobody's actually ever seen that pokemon before, right? Well, he doesn't think so, anyways...though he can't help but feel there's more to the story of that pokemon in recent years than he knows for sure...

That's enough for the first batch, I think.  7 exhibits sounds like a good amount to start with.

The noon ceremony is a dance led mostly by Espeon. The other Eeveelutions take supporting roles - even the masterful Sylveon mostly dances to build up Espeon, though each gets a short solo dance.

Since Espeon is the lead Pokemon here, there is also a strong theme of friendship in this ceremony. There is a lot of twirling with Pokemon partners, or exercises of trust such as a pyramid of Eeveelutions that is quickly built and gracefully dispersed in the blink of an eye. Young Eevee does not participate in this ceremony; he's off working with his trainer.

Two members of the crowd want to battle today (1, 2), along with Shiva (3,4) and Heart (5,6).

A beautiful sister with face like porcelain steps forward and draws a name from the basket.
(1)
Unfortunately, it is an unfamiliar name, and a young female trainer goes up with her Furfrou to battle (1) Vaporeon in graceful dance. You can imagine that mist plays a heavy role, and dissolution into water. Vaporeon's tail makes her dance style much different from Jolteon's, mimicking a diving dolphin.

When the battle ended Heart return to his position of relax and talk again with Shiva with a guilty face. "I...sorry if I didnt ask your questions right away Shiva...I was fully concetrated in the battle and I couldnt answear right away (aka: Didnt have time to make the post to answear Shiva question regardless Gustav typing). Yes, Gustav still have the ground typing in his hand. And to clarify he not anymore a Clauncher, he is a Clawitzer, his evolution. But you can just call him Gustav if you want."

Then Heart notices the discontent face of Shiva. He didnt want to make her feel that way with that battle. That was supose to be enjoyed battle between friends, so Heart decided to at least help her. "Hey Shiva. Dont feel that way. Being honest, that battle is being awesome and enjoyable until now! The strategys, the change of table between us, the moments of tension...that battle is being epic to me, against a adversary as you. Heck, that battle I would consider one of the most tough and difficult I have face until now. Equal in hardness like my battle against Dagny. When I say I consider you my rival, I do not say that to make you better. It is the clear truth. Even now, I can see the same potential I have see during our journey to the end of the earth. The same potential I have witness when you fight against the odds in the gym battle against Dagny." And that Heart say with honestly and truth. He say deep in his own heart (no pun intended).

"After that battle against Dagny, I feel the need to get stronger and stronger, to improve my skills and sharp my abilities. I know I cant live forever as comicaly relieve to the party or some type of noob in cooking. You guys have fighting against dangers, and alone of difficuties...I may not be a sensitive or psychic, but I know when anyone feel in some bad mood. Thats why...I decided to get stronger. Not just in in fisic, but in spirit too. To become more wise and able to fight against any enemy. Be the Scimitars, or Claydoll." Then Heart looks in his own hand. "So that way....I may be able to..." Heart didnt finish his sentence. " Heart didnt finish his sentence. "What I trying to say Shiva: Winning or loosing the more important thing to do is do your best and enjoy the battle. Pokemon battles its not just about fighting. Pokemon battles its a way to humans and Pokemon understand each other. And to give people the ability to understand the heart and emotions of each other. Even the most locked on."

Oh. Damnit, Shiva's anticipitation to hold a graceful Contest-like battle this noon has ended up being for naught! Silently, she can't help for a few moments as if the star's guide and aid has left her,  before the thought of Lilith and her liking to wander off from her carefully reminded her that they may have other plans - the frustration only lasted short, Azumarill summoning a red rose and placing it in her Master's hair before she gave her a lovely hug played a big role in that. The more often you do 'loose' the drawing, the sweeter it'll eventually be if she ever wins; a soft voice in her mind whispered to her. Shiva couldn't help but to...eventually agree.

Espeon's leading part in the noon's Ceremony was something she watched with great interest, rather quickly the soft music and the whole concept of friendship caught her and gave her pleasant chills that unvisibly ran through her whole body. It all reminded her on Spectral, and she couldn't help but to miss her in a sharp but short pain deep within her heart. Despite the increadible distance to Castelia City and her family's house there, she felt close to it all, which eventualy gave her warm feelings near the end of the Ceremony of a similar matter to these Ven was occassionally giving her. If the Evening Ceremony will have Umbreon as a leading part, Shiva probably won't make it to prevent her eyes from becoming wet. No way she'll miss the opportunity to see if this will turn out true or false.

Heart was quite surprise to see this turn of events. Two psychic users coming to the battle. This might be a problem about Rose. "Ho, bring back Meowstic? I think your prediction was way better than mine. I was thinking you would might bring Cottonee to the battle, so I decided to bring your wish to have your fairy fight against Koa. And with Rose that would be good advantage. Two psychic users against Rose...that is indeed a powerfull and dangerous recipe. Good strategy you bring here Shiva!"

Creshire Museum Part 1

Solomon gains 1 Loyalty! He's very thankful about being taken to this great place.

Almanac Research Institute

This visit is indeed brief, as it's just a small booth where you can pull up various examples of Almanac's experiments. These high-profile videos have all been carefully curated, it seems. They all show Pokemon being used in ways that run pretty much with how they are meant to be used: a Klink operating a big drilling machine, a Nosepass spinning around in a magnetic tunnel of some kind, a calculating Metagross, and a Ditto Transforming into equipment.

An introductory video said that Almanac has made its home here since 2014, and singlehandedly represents 3% of Creshire's jobs and economy.

Solomon and Furret aren't at all interested in these rather dry videos.

Mt. Sentry
This exhibit involves a big cardboard cutout of Tanuki with a Zigzagoon on each shoulder, holding up another map of Mt. Sentry. When you tap a button, a short audio plays. Furret listens to every one with awe.

"Captain Bridge's Gem Mine: Long abandoned for production, this mine nevertheless yields occasional small shards of gemstone. An underground river performs both the mining and the transportation, as sifting sand is the best way to find a little treasure here. Armed guards assist tourists for a fee. Ever since Bridge's small squad was driven from their wartime encampment by a fleet of Sableye, that Pokemon has been a constant pest in the mountain. This creates quite a challenge for the Cress City Gym Leader, who traditionally trains the Normal type in the mountain. The assistance of Mediums has helped, but the clever Sableye are still a problem."

"Fallen Arches: Built by indentures during King Sarimanok's excavation of the underground reaches of the Palace. Many lives were lost during this excavation due to the unstable medium of Mt. Sentry and Pokemon tunneling within it. The only other significance they bear is a short legend in Creshire's annuls: It is said that a witch collected the keystones of each arch for nefarious purposes."

This actually makes Solomon look a little nervous, though at first he was interested in that history.

"The Candelabra: The Candelabra was built in Creshire's earliest recorded history, when the First Technical Society was expanding to fill the continent. Its lengthy stem delves into the earth deeper than any explored layer of the Palace, where it is fed by a reservoir of natural gases. Early modern explorers found the gas could cause paranoia, strange behavior, and eventually death by asphyxiation if the flares did not come frequently enough. FTS homes had a mini Candelabra in every room; presumably, they had some form of safeguard against gas leaks."

Solomon presses the button to play that one again. He nods.

"Clay Pits: Another feature of Mt. Sentry exploited by the Bridgemen. The clay here is superior for pottery, and is a pleasant white color which takes dyes, paints, and glazes nicely. The Bridgemen used it to create primitive grenados filled with an explosive mixture of gases. The very next spring, a three-thousand year old cache of Voltorb was discovered, making these grenados obsolete. See the Meteor exhibit for more details."

Furret rolls around in excitement and makes digging motions on the floor. For a moment, she forgot she wasn't really in the Clay Pits.

There are also buttons for the Sentry Shrine, but you already know all of it. The only thing new is a date concurrent with early Mamo exploration of Creshire. So it was probably drawn by the Mamo or their predecessors.

Cress City
The Cress City exhibit has a list of famous people born in Cress City.
-Red, currently serving in the Elite 4
-Tanuki, currently Cress City Gym Leader
-Keni Morgusi, artist
-Felicia, fashion model
-Mayor Raist, currently serving as Cress City Mayor and Creshire League Liaison
-Armbrandt, Pokelympics athlete
-Wemochte, Tumbleweed Town sheriff
And so on.

Skull Ruins
The Skull Ruins exhibit has a map of the explored portions of the Ruins, which is not much: just row upon row of Barrow Downs on the surface, and some of the palace foundations below that. The Barrow Downs are not recommended to the public, but are not off-limits to strong trainers. The second layer requires a permit.

There's also an exhibit on a new sonar project to map the Ruins remotely. These scientists believe the Skull Ruins has at least five distinct layers from different times in history. In fact, the newest research (new even to Nathan) suggests the King's Palace may have been built on an even older ruins. There's a cutaway map of the layers: Barrow Downs, Palace Foundations, King's Well, Underground Caverns, Ancient Palace.

There are fabled portions of the Skull Ruins: the King's early TM library, his Bullion Armory where he stored his gold, and an artist's rendition of the Skull Throne, comprised of several dead Charizard. In this picture the throne looks vast and intimidating.

"Somewhere deep within what's left of the Palace, may be the Hold of the Secret Throne, where Sarimanok kept a second throne room filled with the greatest of his treasures. Including unique Pokemon, secret technology, and vast wealth."

There's a newly discovered chunk of palace with Sarimanok's crest on it: a bulky winged Pokemon within a triangle, and a motto.
Medicas adhibere manus, manus mortiferum
"Healing hands, deadly hands."

"Sarimanok was one of the first men in the entire world who you would have recognized as a modern trainer: Apricorns and primitive Pokeballs at his belt, a system of battle rules, and a tradition of challenging nearly everyone he met to battle, if he judged them worthy."

"The King's Trio of legendary Pokemon, possibly ruled by Landorus, consisted of three Pokemon representing Royalty, Kingdom, and Knighthood. Landorus rebelled against Sarimanok and left to create a new team of legendary Pokemon."

Now, Solomon's crown is glowing brightly, and he is drinking it all in. He puts his face up right up against the glass to see the Crest. He's nodding at everything. Until he gets to the bit about the Trio; then he starts shaking his head violently and lightly headbutting the wall in frustration. Not enough to damage it, fortunately. Clearly, something is wrong with their description.

In response to his open suprise over this, as he called it, 'turn of events', Shiva could only carefully chuckle behind the pages. "It's dangerous to bring in a Grass Type apart my sweet Nightshade when she sun has been brightened up. D....during this journey I realized how Pokemon with psyhic powers are rather cool, I like how most of them, well, use their mind instead of their fists. There's some beautiful mystic around them, similar like my fairies! Oh, your small green dragon will see a fairy of mine soon."

It seems like the frustration she felt beforehead has been eased, partly because the battle went on, partly because the sunbeams felt warm on her skin, partly because Heart's words. Getting stronger - that was exactly what Shiva wanted too, develop, become more confident and hone her senses towards her Pokemon. Was battling really a way for human and Pokemon to understand each other better, as he said...? She was unsure about, pondered and showed this by going quiet again. So far, she has gotten that Pokemon grow stronger by battling and how it's a necessary thing to help them unlock their powers - But due to the attitude of a green-haired young male Unovian she looked up to, she was unsure whether it really helps to get a better understanding of Pokemon.

Creshire Museum Part 2

Hidden Machines

"Unlike TMs, which are researched and constructed in an ongoing process continuing right up to modern times, we have no knowledge about the creation of the Hidden Machines. We don't know who built them, how they were built, or more than the basics of how they work. We don't even know when the first one appeared in the world, but we do know the Creshirean HMs predate those of every other region internationally."

"The wondrous technology and energy within a Hidden Machine far exceeds most normal moves, and without any of the drawbacks that normally accompany moves of such power. They have been compared to a Hyper Beam in strength, coming up just short in clashes between Hyper Beam users. Untrained young Rattata with the ability to crush boulders were once a common part of every team, until the League had to restrict their use in League matches. Currently, the only matches which allow unadulterated HM moves are most Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, the Champion, the Little Cup, and the Safari Cup."

"The knowledge of even copying an HM has been lost. The most recent attempt, in 1991, resulted in the irreversible destruction of the last known copy of the once-common Rock Smash HM. It was once possible to create indefinite copies, though extremely resource intensive. Sarimanok, the wealthiest man in recent memory, had but two copies of most HMs. International statutes outlaw the sale of even ordinary HMs, and the Creshire Cultural Preservation Law of 1901 adds extra strictures."

"Unlike TMs, they do not require a computer of any kind to teach a Pokemon the move contained within. A much wider variety of Pokemon can learn an HM move, compared to the limited applicability of a TM move."

The exhibit now shows a (fake) Hidden Machine. It's a semi-transparent cylinder, equal to a TM in diameter but as thick as a roll of duct tape. Inside the cylinder is a pint of water, sloshing back and forth with the motion of the servomotor under it (that part, of course, is the Museum's attempt to replicate the real thing).
Wires protrude from it, attached to little nodes. There are also resizable metal straps, wired with parallel wires of various materials.

Ralts STARES long and hard at that.

"There are eleven known Hidden Machines."

1. Surf - Possessed by the League and given to worthy trainers who have thoroughly proven themselves.
2. Rock Smash - Once possessed by the League; now lost to them. Occasionally a copy will surface.
3. Cut - Unknown
4. Fly - Unknown. A trainer demonstrated it as recently as 2012.
5. Strength - League copy was stolen by Team Rocket shortly before they disbanded.
6. Flash - Studied at Telperion University and thought to be the least useful of HMs.
7. Whirlpool - Lost at Sea, 1985
8. Waterfall - Unknown
9. Dive - Unknown
10. Rock Climb - Unknown
11. Defog - Unknown.

"A Pokemon who learned a Hidden Machine will sometimes pass a weaker version of the move to its children. Wild populations are sometimes found with remnants of HM bloodlines. Naturally, these are highly desired by breeders."
Nathan brings up Carvanha here, and Furret looks uncomfortable.
Slowking looks covetous. He must know something about the true power of a Hidden Machine.

Meteor Exhibit
http://hubblesite.org/reference_desk/faq...olarsystem

"Creshire receives more meteorite impacts than any other region in the southeastern hemisphere. Most are small meteorites only the size of a Pokeball, but even these can damage property and cause impact craters the size of a Wailord. Meteors are also frequently visible in the night sky during events called meteor showers."

"Every thousand years or so, give or take about 50 years, the planet enters an unusual field of stellar debris called the Millennium Comet. At this time, large meteorite strikes are more common, with the power to cause continent-wide dustclouds or blinding flashes of light. These cyclical meteor impacts can be extinction-level events. Yet in the cataclysm, sometimes new life is formed - the comet contributes new chemical reactions, conditions, or extremophiles."

"Meteor craters. If a meteor lands in a bed of silicaceous mineral, a permanent meteor crater is formed. Sandy particles are infused with the heavy stellar metals of the meteoroids, mineralized, and turned to a glasslike substance by extreme heat. This material is a meteoric superconductor or MS. It is very useful in modern technology, including Bill's PC system, trainer cards, gym badges, Pokedexes, and Pokeball capture nets."

"A rare species of flower grows only on meteor impact sites, the Deyo flower. It's useful in medicinal and other technology. The Deyo flower, shown here, absorbs MS through its roots and is germinated only by high heat."

Ralts makes sure Nathan is reading carefully.

"The effects of the Deyo flower vary. It is thought that perhaps the location of the planet relative to the rest of the galaxy has some kind of impact, as no intra-planetary factors seem to be at play. Grass Pokemon enjoy the scent. Pokemon like Staryu and Clefairy enjoying the scent has led to rumors that these Pokemon may have originated in outer space."

"Fertilizer with MS will eventually yield growths of Long Grass after many centuries."
