[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
Just like Shiva's Zamboni battle, I allow the use of weather indoors if enough work goes into it. I don't really see Illuminate as being really related to Sunny Day - it's a cold light - but Damp does seem relevant to Rain. Then again, being wet (a Water type) is what lets most of those Pokemon use Rain Dance in the first place.

That's the point of giving them that quality, as it make those ability go from 'Ultra Niche to the point of near uselessness' to 'Alright, this is not half bad.' However, it seems Illuminate got vetoed, so for now only Damp has that potential in place. Ah well, such is the way of things...

Well, Illuminate is still a makeshift flashlight, so there's that at least!

@Iron

And just for clarity's sake, as far as Sunny Day goes, are we using the literal interpretation of its english name (ie what the book says) or would an interpretation of its Japanese name (Clear Skies.  Hence why the move is usable at night in the games lore wise and also affects the effectiveness of Moonlight's recovery) be suitable as well? (basically, just wondering if Sunny Day can be used at night or not becuase it's one of those moves whose original meaning kinda got lost in the international translation.)

We'll just go with the Corebook, so it doesn't work at night.

Get creative.  Think of a different way to catch Gargryph's interest.  Or you could just battle it as a last resort.

Not particularly happy with this ruling, since I believe mechanics of the base games (when applicable) should be at least be considered to be implemented over corebook rules, especially since its ultimately harmless so long as handwavium is employed. Then again I actually anticipated this would be the case so I'm not terribly disappointed or surprised. Just a little bit.

Play with it, spend some time with it, do anything that either impresses it or goes with the nature of this Pokemon. Or be mischivous and bring up a Pokeball at some point without telling like I did with Poochyena (we've played a game of tossing until the butterwolfly remained inside) or haul an Ulta Ball at it when it's not looking while hoping for luck.

Uhm... Lol, of course Sunny Day doesn't work at night, use common sense. I never asked this since Nightshade learned the move because it was pretty clear to me and it's scenically off - I mean, what do you want to power up if the sun's not in the sky, moonlight if you're lucky enough to catch a clear nightsky? That'd be cool, but nope.

Well, it's not just a question of what's powered up.  Even at night, Thunder and Hurricane will have a hard time hitting if there's no clouds in the sky to stir up a storm with.

Yeah, niche effects, but I figured it was worth asking.  *shrug*
