Shedinja releases the wall and bobs slowly up and down, a dramatic gesture from a Pokemon who normally holds so still. It has no expression at all, it hardly registers in your senses as a life form, but you think it would be happy to learn with you.

Hard as it was for Ventus to decipher their feelings, their demonstrative acceptance to join his family was all too clear for the researcher, causing him to break out into the most magnificently heartfelt smile for the insectpector as he extend one hand for it to land upon and used his other to pull out a regular Pokeball.

"Thank you, Shedinja. Like your primegenitor, I shall give you a name that most fits a supposed being of death, decay, and doom like you: Suphlatus . Your nameshake is known as The Angel of Dust, and as they'd scour away all in the world and leave naught but pristine nothing, so to will you. Welcome to the family, my sibling, and may we someday grow as close as you once were with Nincada....."

The empath then captured the newly named Suphlatus in their Pokeball, and sent them off to his PC with their 'sibling' Barbiel. A thought to replace Malphena with them crossed his mind briefly, as they had many the same skills as she did + was nearly invulnerable to most threats and she could get medical aid immediately that way, but he soon dismissed it. Mainly because mainly deadily Rock type Pokémon lurked in these tunnels, and because he sensed he needed to bond with them a little more before they fully accept his stewardship/commands.

Oh, and he couldn't deprieve his dear sister an adventure of a lifetime or the opportunity it gives to grow stronger, now could he?

*touches the floating glass cylinder of the HM with only the fingertip as softly as possible* An excited and suprised "Eeeeeek!" later, she swiftly withdraws her hand and leaps a step backwards while getting into a protective stance, very intrigued by the electrict tingling it sent up her arm simply by that faint touch. She couldn't help but to chuckle over this, a Pokemon that were to learn the move via this machine would probably feel MUCH more than she just did!

'Machine'... Right, HM means 'Hidden Machine ' and they're legendary here in Chreshire, but still she was rather suprised that these looked so much different than the HMs in her books. There, they look just like TMs, with the expectation that they're slightly thicker, contain more data and are handled with a lot more care and exclusivity. She doesn't mind at all that Nathan does keep a hold on it for now, and gives him an approving nod as he asks. When there's time and muse, she'll ask if he can bring it out once more so that she can try to replicate it as a drawing in her star-patterned hardcover journal, as well to loan it when they all are back at the surface in order to teach this move to a few of her Pokemon that currently enjoy their free time in a Box on Bill's PC. (Not an actual drawing, I'm not too good at depicting machinery. So far, I'd like Pancham, Vaporeon and possibly Marowak to learn the move then.)

Let's see... While the others were already making good use of the HM and spread the move to various Pokemon of their own, Shiva pages through her Pokedex-like book she brought from home in order to find out which of her current Pokemon on hand can learn the move - it's a move that demands physical strength, she knows that she won't be able to bring out the best of Rock Smash as she's specialized in using the hidden strength lingering in Pokemon when it comes to a battle. It allured an impercible sigh from her. But...nevermind, there's still the valued usage outside of battle!

As she was reading and checking lists, Azumarill by her side chirped and tugs at the hem of her Ranger's Cloak - the fae rabbit would very very much appreciate to learn through this weird thing there how to break rocks instead of pushing them away! An amused chuckle later, Shiva reached down to fondly stroke her companion's forehead, telling her in a soft voice "Surely you can have your turn, you'd be my first pick anyway when the others have finished teaching it to their own Pokemon, dear one!"


That means, the following Pokemon on Shiva's side will learn Rock Smash:
- Azumarill (obviously)
- Yena (Coverage, can be break these rocks by biting them?)
- Furret (He can use another damage-dealing move, even without gaining STAB on it)
- Tropius doesn't need it.

She curiously watches as the machine teaches those three its move. Hopefully they all rejoice over it!~

As they all eventually resumed their path further down the tunnel to Mr. Finder's discretion, Shiva gets a hold of Nathan, and hesitantly speaks up to him with an interested look on her face.

"Eh... Nathan, listen... That actually reminded me on something that I desired to ask you, but must have missed along the way. Please, tell me: What do you know about the Legendary HM Surf? That's a HM I'd....greatly appreciate to get a hold on myself somehow. Hehe..."

"Surf?  Well, that's the 'easy' HM to learn.  It's the only one that the League knows the current location of aside from maybe Flash.  League has a copy of Surf locked away.  However...they only let very special, select, worthy individuals use their copy. The moves are so powerful, you're not even allowed to use them most of the time."

He shrugs.  "Maybe there are other copies out there.  Nobody knows where they are if so, though.  Or if someone does know, they're not saying they have that knowledge.  Whirlpool was lost at sea, Fly has been demonstrated by a trainer a few years ago without the actual HM ever showing up, Telperion did a study on Flash and determined it was...definitely the least useful HM.  There's a lot more besides those, too."

"...imagine what could be done with that move in one's repertoire!~ What an awesome and fulfilling feeling it must be to wash the foe and obstacles away with the power of water, created at your Pokemon's will. Haah... And the combinations of course, if I'd combine it with my Vaporeon or white Vulpix in a double-match....."

Azumarill is allured by her beloved Master's fascination, and dances around with her for a little bit. Creating a wave to wash foes away? That thought must be like a dream come true for the former shy and unhappy mouse! "Oh right.... And I guess someone used a surf during Little Cup; I didn't see it myself, but I heard Tanuki wondering about the biggest water attack she's ever seen. Guess they approve the usuage of unadulterated HM moves in important battles."

Encouraged by the group's finding of legendary Rock Smash, Shiva hopes that she'll be able to prove herself worthy towards the League. "I'll make sure to take a look at that Flash when paying the University a visit. That move might be....well, not so strong, but having a secure and strong light source can not be underestimated."

"To give you a rough idea of how strong most HMs are, studies have compared them to Hyper Beam in power.  And they lack the drawbacks of most moves with that kind of raw power.  The museum in Cress has a whole exhibit on HMs, including a model of the Surf HM, and I'd highly recommend checking it out.  It definitely looks...unique.  Gym batles, Elite 4 battles, and official League tournaments like the LC and Safari Cup are about the only official formats you're allowed to use full power HMs in."

Nathan stops walking, dumbstruck by that statement about Surf.

Very barely only Shiva manages to not crash into Nathan as he stopped walking. "*amused chuckling* What do I know! I didn't see it, ask Tanuki 'bout it, maybe she remembers. But thanks a lot for that hint, I'll make sure to pay that replicate of Surf in the Museum a visit once we're back in Cress City again, alongside Vaporeon! And Vulpix! And you, Azu! You're just as curious as I am now, huh?"

It was wonderful, relieving and strenghtening for Shiva to be so exubertant for only a little during that important mission and in between her big struggles with the environment, lack of daylight and fresh food, the sucessful battle against the Sableye, the following gift and being called 'worthy' of it must have carefully awoken some of her spirits again. Her mood can swing rather fastly, though.

"...unfortunately, Rock Smash isn't quite as strong as the other HMs.  Same with Cut.  Still definitely stronger than the average move, though.  Definitely a boon to have access to it."

Nathan thinks for a moment...

"...yeah, I'll be sure to ask Tanuki about that...can't believe someone used surf at that event and I missed it entirely..."

(I saw and know that Dizzy didn't learn the move, but that doesn't prevent him from joining in rejoicing over the finding. C: If he wants to that is, Shiva wouldn't blame the young one at all if he'd prefer to keep a keen eye on the surrounding and his danger sense awake while Shiva lowered her guard for just a little.)

When Shiva and Nathan was taking that conversation, Heart decide to talk a bit with Ventus. "Rock Smash huh? So be honest I didnt expect to such rare item to be here in Mt. Sentry. If Rock Smash is here, you think the HM-Fly is here? That would be awesome."
