[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

The Strength attribute doesn't affect how many Pokemon a spread move can hit. Instead, it's based on a trainer's relative strength - it goes up for the party as you progress through the story. Still, you can hit all five, since they're surrounding you.

Ghostly Horde Round 1

Two of the Duskull, the ones the trainers aren't fainting, attempt sneaky attacks.

Shadow Sneak 1C&D
3 Dex + 4 Fight + 3 -3 actions = 7d6
(2)(4)(3)(2)(6)(5)(4)
(6)(3)(1)(1)(1)(1)(3)
One trips over Heart's shadow. The other phases through Lapis to get at Gustav.
3 Str + 2 power + 1 STAB - 4 vit = 2d6
(5)(1) Gustav takes 1 dmg

Twister 1
6)(4)(5)(1)(1)
(6)(4)(4)(1) The ghosts take 3 dmg 3/6hp -2 pain.
Flinch: (4)(5)

The sound of clacking claws comes from within the coils of Lapis.
Swords Dance 1
(5)(4)
+2 Offense

A ghostly flame comes from Duskull's head, leaving him blind. He holds his tendrils out toward Milotic as the marshlight drifts over to him and sweeps around his body, ignoring the thin film of water, causing a burn.

Will-O-Wisp 1A
(5)(4)(2)(3)(4)
Milotic was burned.

The wisplight continues burning like a beacon.

Yamask floats up to Lapis and removes the mask. Lapis moves like a hypnotized snake, still breathing draconic fire, but focused on Yamask to an unearthly degree.
Destiny Bond 1
(4)(2)(2)(3)(4)

Obedience: (5)(1) vs (5)(5)(3)
Gargryph jumps ahead in the orders and sends a Substitute to appear outside of Milotic, hoping to lead the ghosts away.
Substitute 1
(5)(5)(5)(2) Gargryph takes 2 dmg and creates a Substitute.

The remaining Duskull sends a Curse at the Substitute, so that works out OK.
Curse 1
(4)(1)(3)(5)(6)
(6)(5)(4) Duskull B faints and puts a Curse on the Substitute.

(5) + 4 Dex + 4 Survival

From within the arch, the gloved hand reappears, followed shortly by an adult Dusclops! Its ribbons are pure black and it appears more ghostly than normal for a Dusclops. It phases right through everything: archway, broken statues, even the attacks that are flying everywhere, and heads straight for that Will-O-Wisp on Milotic. As soon as it nears, it suddenly rotates its head at a sharp angle to look right at Terra with a single eye!

As its hands flex into claws, you realize what would have happened if you'd retreated toward the Beckoning Pokemon!

Hex 2 on Lapis Lazuli
4 Dex + 4 Fight + 3 -4th action = 7d6
(4)(5)(3)(1)(4)(1)(5)
5 Str + 4 power + 1 STAB -5 vit = 5d6
(2)(2)(4)(4)(6) Lapis takes 3 dmg -1 pain.

Twister 2 - hits all but Dusclops, though you notice he is careful to avoid the scything dragonfire.
(3)(5)(2)
(6)(4)(6)(1) All the little ghosts faint! So does Milotic!

Revealing Gustav, ready with Swords Dance and Bubbles!

Bubble 2
(2)(6)(4)
8*d6, -5 vit = 3d6
(1)(2)(1) No luck. Black Dusclops pops the incoming bubbles with one sharp claw and laughs cruelly.

Obedience: (5)(5) vs (5)(3)(3)

Ancient power 2
(2)(3) The camoflauged Gargoyle misses.
Gargryph Rebuilds 1 HP.

Confuse Ray 3 on Gustav
(4)(3)(1)(4)(2)(2)
Gustav became confused!

Bubbles 3
(5)(2)
(5)(6)(4) Clawitzer takes careful aim this time, instead of filling the air with bubbles, and launches a single massive attack at the big ghost. Hit! Dusclops takes 3 dmg 6/9hp -1 pain.

Obedience: (2)(6) vs (6)(2)(1)
Ancient Power 3
(1)(6)(2)
The summoned rocks go right through Dusclops.
CD: (5)

Dusclops advances on the trainers, who are now much less protected!
And with that, I leave you until Friday!

When the 'helping hand' turned out to be the spectral claw of a malevolent Dusclops coming to sow chaos and harm among him and his charge, the rugged monk's eyes widened in shock. That state didn't last long, for his eyes quickly narrowed and his expression somehow became even more stony as his aquatic serpentine fish was laid low by the Yanmask's Destiny bond. 'Note to self: Be more careful around Ghost type,' he though to himself as he plucked Genie's Pokeball from his belt and unflinchingly stared straight into the dead black fiend's eye.

"That was a bad trick you tried to pull on us, Dusclops. I do not like it."

He then sent out his Desert Princess with a snap of his wrist, calmly ordering to her after she fully materialized: "Genie, burn this Dusclops."

Orders: Genie is being sent out, and she's going to be using Dragon Breath twice this Round on Dusclops, because: A) This Black Dusclops payed special caution to Twister , B) Its a Special Move, not a Physical Move/Special Move with a Physical Component, and C) It has a chance to Paralyze the sucker! If it fails to damage the darn ghost for some reason, Faint Attack will be attempt instead to do SOME Damage to it. After its fainted and if Dusclops doesn't just cease to exist, it will be Toxiced and Paralyzed by Genie/Michael , and then Terra will attempt to catch it with at minimum 3 Pokeballs. If Pokeball just don't work on the Black Dusclops at all, switch over capture attempts to Duskull A after they've been Poisoned/Paralyzed with 2 Pokeballs (If 3 Were used on Dusclops and somehow failed), or 3 Pokeballs (If no Pokeballs worked on Black Dusclops at all).

Also, if its possible to do an Intimidation Roll on Black Dusclops (STR + Fight + Intimidate, right?), that would be lovely!

Time to exorcise MORE bad spirits, mates!

Moves:

Dragon Breath
Accuracy: 9D6 Base Dice - Exhaustion (Don't know how much this will be, but you said they'd be tuckered out a bit, so I'm putting this there) - 2/3 Actions = At Most 7/6D6 Dice
Damage: STR + 2 + STAB - Vitality (5) = 3D6 Damage
Effect: *Paralyze 3*

Faint Attack (If Dragon Breath Fails)
Accuracy: Does it really matter? Same as Dragon Breaths.
Damage: 2D6 + 1 Damage
Effect: Always Accurate

Heart to bring his orders. He uses a Full Heal to counter the effect of Confuse Ray on Gustav. "Gustav! Gargryph! Focus in your special attacks to go against that enemy! He somehow can be imune to physical attacks! Gustav, prepare to launch your most powerfull move! Water Pulse 3x against that Dusclops! If somehow Dusclops show be imune to Water Pulse, continue to launch the Bubbles against him since it show to be effective! Gargryph, use Glare to paralyze the moves of Dusclops, then go ahead with Stored Power to increase your defenses. Then use Hidden Power (Psychic)! We must inutilize that foe!" (Using Will point this turn to ignore pain).

Water Pulse Accuracy: Dex (4) + Fight (3) + Canalize (3) - Confuse (1) - Actions (4/5/6) = 5d6/4d6/3d6
Damage: Power (2) + STR (*4) + STAB (1) + Mega Launcher (2) = 10d6! Eat water power Ghost!
Effect: D3 To confuse the foe

In case Water Pulse dont work, Bubbles in the place (Accuracy its the same so I will already damage)
Bubbles Damage: Power (2) + STR (*4) + STAB (1) = 7d6
Effect: Hit all foes. 1 Dice Chance to reduce foe Dexterity.

Glare Accuracy: Dex (4) + Fight (3) + Canalize (3) - Actions (3) = 7d6
Effect: Paralyze the foe

Cosmic Power: Dex (4) + Fight (3) + Canalize (3) - Actions (4) = 6d6
Effect: Increase defense

Stored Power Accuracy: Dex (4) + Fight (3) + Canalize (3) - Actions (5) = 5d6
Damage: Power (1) + STR (3) = 4d6
Effect: For every increase stats of the user, the Power grows in 1 point.

Raphael has no qualms about eating from Shiva's hand.

As Shiva is passing the Clockmaker again to leave the Violet Tent, she experiences another of those strange LURCHES. A dozen different booths take the place of the Clockmaker in quick succession, before everything returns to normal.

You happen to hear him say, "Hm. I thought this new oscillator would keep better time. It's off by...well, back to the drawing board..."

Carefully delighted over having wrapped up so many things within cherished Violet Tent and Raphael being fine, Shiva made her way outside into the fresh air again.... But that action has neatly been crossed as that infamous LURCH already experienced within Mount Sentry recently hit her, causing her to let out a high-pitched 'Eeeeeeekkk!' in startle, fall onto her knees right there at the spot and wrap her arms around Yena's strong neck while he instantly began to growl lowly and dangerously at the unseen threat. Ven's archangel, just having gulped down the last dried berry, came down to his temporarly new Master and protectively laid his wings around her, all to show that he's there and that everything will be fine. There, there... *comforting cooing sounds*

As unexpectadly as that lurch came, the fast it was gone already, and Shiva found herself visibly wondering about the Clockmaker's comment. Humm... He seems to know something more about this strange new phenomena, good that she'll have to visit Violent Tent tomorrow again anyway to bring the Kirlia Slipper to Tam. Hopefully he'll be there then as well! There's no time to approach him right now sadly as she still has stuff to do. Damn, dusk is already falling as well, better hurry!~

With Quick Feet and Yena+Raphael by her sides, she made a hasted run to the Pokemon Center, it almost looked like she was trying to escape from these unpleasant and scary lurchs. Logging into Bill's PC right away, picking up Helios, Vulpix and Cottonee to complete her party again, logging off, then stepping through the sliding door *swoooosh* again and into the rainy air, all in not much more than a minute! Panting a little, butterwolfly and archangel got recalled into their respective Balls while her shining first Psychic Type, now carrying two spoons and being much smarter than prior evolution, has been summoned. From the way the noble Alakazam met Shiva with a friendly and somehow nostalgic look (one one'd get when remembering something pleasant), she could literally feel how he sees her as someone worthy of his enormous psychic powers - she returned his gaze with a light smile.

With his help, they made an instant-teleport in front of the GrandPokemonCenter in Stair City, where he got recalled again (not after respective thanks) and Yena + Vulpix came out of their Balls in familiar white light; the former panting a little himself and wagging his pitchblack tail while the latter tilted her snow-white head and looking up to Shiva in curiosity. Giving them both some strokes over their forehead, she began to roam the nearby streets with a particular goal: Finding a quick battle for these two. She was still somehow shy about meeting gaze with another Trainer-person in order to trigger things, but notably less 'uncomfortable' about it by now.

"There's a man in Cress City who collects Duskull, old stonework, and Sarimanok-era items. His name is Gerald and he lives right behind the museum, on the side opposite Main Street. He has a small sign on his house, 'seeking collectibles,' so you'll know it's the right one. I myself collect such things, but I'm afraid I never could afford much bullion."

Anything else of particular interest in the Sarimanok exhibit that the old man might know that the exhibits don't make obvious?

Ghostly Horde Round 2

Genie: (3)

Dusclops begins charging some kind of attack.

Charge 1

Water Pulse 1
(4)(6)(3)(3)(6)
(5)(4)(5)(5)(1)(6) Dusclops takes 5 dmg 1/9hp -3 pain
Conf: (4)(2)(1) He's sent spinning around!

This is a great time for Terra to come scowling in, threatening Dusclops with Genie.

You need as many successes as the Pokemon has Will - pretty tough even for a tough guy like Terra.
Intimidate: (6)(2)(5)(6)(6)(1) (2)(4)(6)(6)(5) = 8 successes. Just enough!

Dusclops eyes go wide - they seem to be blue from the Water Pulse, but wide with offense - he releases his held power and fades away.

Each trainer gets 3XP, and can divide 7XP among his Pokemon.

Pokeball on Duskull: (5)(6) vs (1)

Gotcha! Duskull was caught!
0/0/3 Disobedience
Levitate
Night Shade, Shadow Sneak, Confuse Ray, Curse

The Skull Ruins goes quiet now, though you see shadows flitting among the makeshift gravestones. And there's a lot more activity near the barrows. Before you reach those barrows, however, Heart spots his goal: three Natu, hopping around in the dust and eating the fat maggots who make their home in the upper layers of the Ruins.

"You know the Layers of the Skull Ruins? They say it's possible to keep climbing down through them, layer after layer, but each major layer has some sort of obstacle or guardian you have to know the secret to. It can be an item, a move, a Pokemon, a spell or password...who knows! Sarimanok obviously wasn't alive when the Barrow Downs were created, so they don't really have a guardian. But the League does require explorers to have a permit to ascend to the castle-like ruins where the Unown dwell."
