What I've been doing for Copycat is interpreting it to just mean use the same abilities the copied move uses. If you copy Hypnosis, you'll make an accuracy roll using your own Allure.

Have to catch it first before we decide that!  Fun fact: catching a mon while they aren't pained means they have 2/2 for happiness and loyalty.  That'd be a real neat thing to pull off, but it's difficult to do with harder to catch pokemon, obviously.
