[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

@Lord Windos, yeah, Terra can take 2 of the HP TMs.  I'll take the third one.

Sounds fair to me. I okay with that.

Awesome.  Let's arrange that IC after Ancestor Cave is done.

...yeah, FLASH is a mean move in the long term.

Didn't Iron said that the Move's effectiveness wore off quickly after Ditto cast it, though? Otherwise, Terra wouldn't have rushed back in to summon Basteele. Regardless, he's still going to fight, as he has both Mind Reader and copious amount of healing at his dispels to mitigate Accuracy issues!

The blindness wears off after only one round. The -3 lasts ~an hour. They aren't the same debuff.

Still using Mikey, regardless of the debuff!

-3 isn't all that bad at your level, really!

Especially if I stick to only Brawl Moves, as Terra has 11D6 Dice in that Roll! Or I could just use Mind Reader, and jolly well ignore Inaccuracy! Or Both!

@Spiritmon @Lord Windos

So, for you brand new Meowth owners, here's how Pay Day works in this campaign:

1. In battle, the move generates valuable metals equal to (Insight+Survival)*5 per successful use. (Technician/high Strength/Screech abusing Meowth/Persian have a much easier time justifying using this move in more serious battles, obviously)

2. Outside of battle, it generates non-valuable metal.

3. The exception to point #2 is if you keep the Pay Day user in your party for an extended period of time.  They can generate $1000 automatically after a few days have passed (I've been assuming 3 or so), but they can only do that once per week (I've been treating Sunday as the start of a new week).

4. Amulet Coin also doubles all money generated by Pay Day.

@PhantomUnderYourDesk

And for our new resident Ditto owner, here's how Transform works:

1. Ditto gets three Transformations per day.  Ditto always uses its trainer's stats while Transformed in this campaign.

2. De-transforming can be done at any time, no check required.  I assume it would require a full action in battle, however. Recalling them also de-Transforms them instantly.

3. If Transforming into a target it can see, no check is required.  Its movepool will be identical to the copied pokemon's as well, and it will also perfectly copy most Surprises the target has. (I'm not sure how that would interact with any Surprises Ditto has, though. But it's not relevant until we spend exp on/catch a Ditto with at least one Surprise).

4. If Transforming into a target from memory (which means Ditto needs to have seen the pokemon species it's Transforming into at least once), an Insight check is required, and at least 1 success must be scored (you can spend a Will Point to add a success to the roll if needed, obviously).  Scoring more means the copy will look more like the real thing instead of having a ditto face, anime eyes, or whatever else Iron cooks up.  Its movepool will be all the moves the pokemon species can learn for exp equal to or less than 15+5*(# of Gym Badges) (with 4 badges, that's all moves that are 35 exp or less. With 8, that's all moves that are 55 exp or less)

5. If an auto Transformation occurs (such as the random ones Nathan's Ditto undergoes or the female Umbreon Shiva's gets), follow point #4's movepool rules

6. It seems that unlike Nathan's Ditto, Shiva's Ditto Transforming into a female Umbreon does not count against its number of Transformations for the day.  So it effectively gets 4 per day as long as one of them is a female Umbreon.

7. If you want to re-Transform into a species you already Transformed into previously during the same day, an Insight check is required if Ditto is not looking at the exact pokemon it turned into.

8. If you want to change Ditto's Ability to Imposter, Iron tacked a 20 exp cost on it for Nathan's Ditto. I assume it's the same for Shiva's. Imposter automatically overrides all other non-semi-permanent Transformations when Ditto is sent out (basically only relevant for Nathan's Ditto atm). It can de-Transform as normal mid-battle to use Transform manually if so desired. I don't know if it takes up any of the Transformation slots for the day, though, as I haven't asked Iron about that yet. It might, though.

9. Because of how the Ability's effect is phrased, Imposter seems to be able to be used to automatically attempt to Transform into something from memory when the pokemon is sent out if you don't want to Transform into the opponent (the Ability says it lets the user use Transform for free once upon being sent out, essentially). Of course, turning into a pokemon Ditto can see doesn't require a roll, so pick your poison, I suppose: Variety vs reliability.

10. Ditto can also turn into objects. However, it needs to be looking at it, the object has to fit within a 1 yard cube, and it requires an Insight check. Transforming into more complex objects like machinery is also only possible for very experienced Ditto.

11. When Transforming from memory, the Ability will be the same as the pokemon Ditto is trying to remember. Not sure if the Surprises of the pokemon Ditto is trying to remember will necessarily carry over (it might depend on how many successes the Insight check gets, maybe? I'm not sure...). In the case of Nathan's Ditto's random Transformations, I get to pick the Ability if the species has multiple standard Abilities (I can't pick HAs). Or I can have Iron flip a coin instead if I can't decide. In the case of Shiva's Ditto, it'll likely always have Synchronize for its Ability while it's a female Umbreon as a result of this ruling.

(Random side note: I find it ironic that one of Shiva's fav pokemon is Umbreon because their glowing yellow rings can secrete poison according to older pokedex entries. And the book's 'dex entry also says their fur is drenched in a light poison. All because Umbreon was originally going to be a Poison type that evolved from Eevee with a Poison Stone. Fun fact: Pokemon Duel also reflects this trait of Umbreon's, as Umbreon's wheel includes a slice for Toxic)

Thanks for the info, mate! Shame that Insight is part of the Metal Generation, as that more or locks Terra forever at $30-35 Poke per use, which is pretty poultry unless you deliberately go out of your way to hold back while using the Move and spam it madly. Best use is probably waiting the time limit it can produce that large lump sum with Amulet Coin, or if you actually manage to max out both INS and Survival and have an AC, spam it in battle, since each use gets you $100 Poke at that point!

I'm wondering if a Surprise or Evolution could have any bearing on the amount of Poke generated by Pay Day, though....

Get that Meowth a +Insight and/or Survival Surprise, and I think its Pay Day might pay off slightly more.  Not sure evolution would have any effect on it, unfortunately.

On the plus side, a high strength, Technician, STAB Pay Day is rather spammable in most battles, so Terra has the easiest time justifying using it in battle. Even small amounts can add up quickly if you use the move all the time.
