[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

*Flashback!*

Since this happened before Terra switch into Business Mode, the man accepts it humbly with a bow of his head and a simple "Thank you, sir." He was aware of the existence of Chansey/Lucky Eggs, so he knew exactly how valuable a gift he was given. It was promptly given to Angie in exchange for her S.D.S he took from her earlier, which he told her if she was very careful with it, it would make her more powerful faster than before.

(What would be their reaction to this new/recieving the CLE, Iron?)

Nathan lets out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding when the wagon touches the ground safely.  Phew...

He's very...quiet.  For the most part, he tries not to speak unless spoken to.  He does return Mito's vigorous handshake with a firm one of his own.  "Just doin' the right thing, sir.  I see people in trouble, I just...want to help if I can.  Not much to it besides that.  Same goes for a lot of my pokemon friends."

Gallade's looking a little winded now, much like Nathan, but he's happy everyone got out of that okay and is taking a breather off to the side.  Calam and Starmie seem fine and happy as well (though it's hard to tell with Starmie), but the tiredness is probably starting to rub off on them too.  That was a very...rapid and stressful encounter, that's for sure.

When offered a Lucky Egg of all things, Nathan accepts it with a quiet, "...thank you.  I'll take good care of it."

He hadn't been asking for anything...but it feels nice to be appreciated all the same.

"...so...where are you guys headed, out of curiosity?", he asks.

-------

The snake oil salesman is a different story.  Nathan's read a lot about these salesmen who would take little bits and bobs from pokemon and try to turn them into something useful that they could sell, sometimes for exorbitant prices that were far more than what the item was actually worth.

Some of them actually worked...but a lot of them didn't. And a lot of the ones that did had...side effects of some variety, to put it mildly.

Nathan has a weird feeling about this guy, too...like he's definitely seen him before somewhere...was it in a book he read one time, maybe?  He can't quite remember off the top of his head right this moment...it could very well be that some snake oil salesmen were more famous than others...

Well, he'll keep thinking about this while he's browsing and trying to determine what might work and what won't, I guess.  He has some stuff he could trade, so if some of this stuff actually DOES work...the standard stuff like Potions and herbal medicines certainly seems to be the same as it usually is, at least...well, minus the inflation that the economy will experience eventually...those 1925 Pokeballs cost not double, but FOUR times what a standard pokeball costs in 2017...yeesh...yes, it's new technology in this time, but seeing a standard pokeball costing an effective $800 is certainly an experience and a half...

...seeing Terra shift into his own 'snake oil salesman' mode is also certainly...something else, that's for sure.  Though Nathan's not too sure how much those maps can be trusted...maybe Terra will let him check them out later...

(I'm still deciding on what to get from Dr. M's shop and how exactly I'm going to barter/pay for it, but I'll get something for sure!  There's some neat stuff in there, after all.)

"Excuse me, here are the items that fell from your cart." Spira hands back the folk remedies, a pokeball and the metal hat. (He also shows the 3 potions and pokeball he intends on keeping, saying as much) "Oh, yeah, while I'm thinking about it, I caught a poison-type Pokemon you might be interested in. I'd be willing to trade it to you for some items that you have. As long as they ain't folk remedies..." (If the dr asks to see the pokemon Spira will show him the Chupacho)

While the dr is considering the offer, Spira takes a few moments looking at the destruction caused and notices the Absol with Nathan, mainly the scar that its sporting. He thinks to himself how did it get the scar. He'll be sure to ask Nathan once he gets the chance.

Each Dwebble Shell is worth 750$ in the past, and he'll sell the saddle for $250, so you'll get $500 and a large saddle from the farmer.
Each individual map is $400, and it will be a random roll as to how much treasure can be found at that location.

Dr. M recognizes another man of merchant blood and his eyebrows shoot up. He lowers them when he sees you looking.

After some haggling, he agrees to trade 3 SDS and all your Tears of Milotic (he loves the name) for what you've asked for, 4 bonus Energy Powders, $100 and a bonus treasure map. So you'd have 2 maps in total.

And Angie loves the Chansey Egg, because baby Pokemon always love them more. With her coils she can protect it well. (It's not as fragile as a chicken egg, but it can be smashed in a disaster.)

@Spiritmon He doesn't think the gems are worth a batch of his mystical Torchic teeth. "Go find a Torchic. Go on. Look inside its beak. Do you see any teeth there? Bet not. Torchic teeth are rare and valuable because TORCHIC DON'T NORMALLY HAVE TEETH! It takes an expert like myself to discover them! Is there anything else you can offer to make up the difference? I love to make deals, you know."

To Nathan: "We're headed east to our home in Cress City. We have some land there. It's quite beautiful and right in the heart of town. You're welcome to visit if you return, but I see you are heading west. We just came from there and I can report the road is smooth - no bandits, no closings, nothing more than a few missing cobbles."

To Spira: "Yes, thank you very much for helping pick up my scattered belongings while I am busy plying my trade!"
Sensing your hostility toward things called folk remedies, he immediately changes his tune. "No, no folk remedies here! All high class, university-approved objects of medicine. What is this spiky poison Pokemon? Do you know anything about it?"

When you mention the numbing toxins, he becomes interested. "Yes, I'd buy this Pokemon. I wish it was more tame, but we can't always get everything we ask for. I think I can extract a good anesthetic from him. I'll have to lower my price to account for the pain and long-suffering I will go through to obtain the medicine, which I will resell at a very low price for the benefit of all humanity and Poke-kind. I'll give you $2000 for it."

That's a pretty good deal for a non-tame Pokemon in 1925. A Tandor researcher might be able to give you more, but would be a lot harder to find.

"$2000 eh? How about I trade it to you for the Magmarizer, a repel and 2 pokeballs, instead?" While Spira still doesn't quite trust the dr, he feels these items would be worth the trade. (If the dr doesn't accept the item trade, Spira will sell the Chupacho for $2000, then buy those items.)

While everyone is busy with talking, trading things with the Doc or simply minding their own business, Shiva takes the opportunity to sneak away to a spot where she is unobserved and left alone, away from prying eyes. If anyone asks where she's going, she'd say something along the lines of "I just, eh, need to write an important message to someone before I forget. Please don't ask." This is actually half true, as as soon as Shiva feels safe enough, she hitches up the right sleeve of her Ranger's Cloak to fiddle at the PTC again. It's Raphael again who will play messenger pidgeon to Bill, she hopes the archangel doesn't mind being soft-traded between the times - if she'd notice any discomfort from him, she'd emphasize that this task she's giving him is very important and he trusts Raphael blindly to fulfill it flawlessly. Though if he really dislikes it, another Pokemon is traded.

Once that is done and Shiva got a response and Azu, she returns to the crowd looking as if nothing has happened and everything is alright - now with a blue fae rabbit clinging to her side. She gives out a confident and very loyal impression, an old old expert belt is tied around her belly. It's not hard to spot that this Azumarill was one of this young female's most dear companions even from a short glance at the pair, it's some sort of mutual friendshippy love these two are sharing, a bond that will never break regardless what may try to sever it.

Shiva would approach Dr. M's stall once everyone else has done their trades and buyings as she wishes him to concentrate on her. They are okay to still linger and catch a word or two she will share with the Doc, but she will not enjoy any questions or comments. It's fine if this means a slight flashforward.

For the most part, she is  - so far - only looking through his many goods, investigates this and that with immense curiosity. This almost reminds her on her beloved Violet Tent in Cress City! Before she'll get to trade something though, she wishes to just talk casually, she meets Dr. M in a slighty skittish but friendly and almost fascinated manner. "Well, hello!", she'd break the ice, "That's quite the cool stuff you've collected up. But please excuse me for admitting that, I have never heard of your Traveling Medicine Show - it may be because I only arrived here in Chreshire a few days ago from Unova. Do you only travel to collect and sell precious goods? Or do you.... actually 'hold' real shows, like the name would make me believe?"

Shiva is also paying subtle attention how Azu does react to this Doc - she has no idea how her dear fae rabbit might give herself towards this guy, but she's sure that Azu remembers that picture she and Master have discovered at the Fountain of Brotherhood.

"You drive a hard bargain, but I accept!"

(A note, though: The MagmarIzer is only designed to evolve Magmar. It will double as a Charcoal and boost fire type moves, though, and fire types do like it.).
