[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

A very tiny Swablu, body the size of a fist, comes crashing boldly through the foliage. It doesn't seem afraid of anything, even though any of the predator Pokemon here could eat it in one bite.

This Swablu is a normal blue color, I just used gold because I already used blue ; )

It sees Nathan and curiously comes down to try to steal all his items, or at least to investigate them.

(Since I have 5 Dex and 3 Survival lets see.... 3+5+3 = 11. Yep, not enough to outspeed that Heracross. Time to call the big guns.)

"Alright Netune. Thats gonna be on of your first real tough fights! Remember the training with Gustav and focus your most powerfull water attacks against your enemy! First of all: Whirpool to trap your foe! Then go ahead with a old fashioned Water Gun 4x against that fighting bug! If you receive to much damage, potion on you to heal you right away!"

Whirpool Accuracy: Dex (5) + Fight (4) + Canalize (3) - Accuracy (2) - Actions (5) = 5D6
Damage: Power (2) + STR (3) + STAB (1) = 7D6
Effect: Block. Foe receive 2 damage during the end of each round.

Water Gun Accuracy: Dex (5) + Fight (4) + Canalize (3) - Actions (6/7/8/9) = 6D6/5D6/4D6/3D6
Damage: Power (2) + STR (3) + STAB (1) = 6D6
Effect: None.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.

A tiny Swablu with huge amounts of bravado/recklessness and a tendency to swipe stuff that piques its curiosity, huh?

Calam probably perks up a little at the sound of something crashing through the bushes.  While Gallade and Pancham have been training their Drain Punch skills and meditating, he's been sitting next to Nathan, brooding a little bit.  It's nice for him to hear Detective Thrawn's confident that they can put Juni behind bars, particularly if they help out (and why wouldn't they?), but this grudge probably isn't going to dissipate overnight.

This is quite an interesting situation.  Nathan gets along well with Dragons, and Calam has a natural tendency to attract Fairies now...and while Swablu is neither, it both evolves into a Dragon and can become a Dragon/Fairy type via Mega Evolution, and is capable of learning both Dragon Pulse and Moonblast naturally even before evolving.

Needless to say, this Swablu has definitely caught Nathan's interest, and he's definitely caught on that it's there considering how much noise it made while approaching.

"...well, what do we have here?  A tiny little Swablu?  Come to look around out of curiosity, huh?  Well, I suppose we can offer some hospitality.  A playful visitor would be a nice break from all the tension.  Let's see here...ah, how's this?"

Nathan gets out the Castle Batbox that he originally purchased for Emolga and puts some birdseed in it to hopefully tempt the Swablu to go in.  Given how small this Swablu is, maybe that'll be a fun thing for Swablu to explore?

Heracross Round 1

Heracross just flits up and down, slurping honey from his fists, watching Neptune get closer and closer and run around and around him. He nonchalantly finishes all the honey from one claw, then at the last moment reaches out and slams Neptune with devastating force.

Close Combat 1
5 Dex + 5 Fight + 5 Brawl -3 actions = 12d6
(2)(4)(5)(3)(4)(5) (4)(2)(4)(4)(4) Critical hit
5 Str + 5 power + 1 stab -5 vit +2 crit = 8d6
(5)(2)(3)(5)(6)(2) (6)(3) Neptune takes 4 dmg 4/8hp -2 pain
-1 Defense for Heracross

Neptune finishes the whirlpool, but he's in a bit of a daze himself. I guess we're using anime whirlpool, of sorts.

Whirlpool 1
(5)(4)(5)
(5)(3)(4) Heracross takes 2 dmg 7/9hp -1 pain.
Heracross was trapped for as long as Mudkip is on the field!

When you wound him, Heracross doubles! Both copies in the small swarm fire poison needles at Mudkip and Heart respectively.

Pin Missile 2 & 3
13 ranged dice, -1 pain, -3/4 actions -1 acc = 8/7d6
(1)(1)(4)(4)(6)(6) (3)(2)
(1)(3)(6)(4)(1)(4) (4)
5 Str +1 power +1 stab + 1 Swarm = 3d6 each
(2)(3)(5) Mudkip takes 1 dmg 3/8hp. A potion brings him to 7/8.
(1)(3)(4) Heart takes 1 dmg 9/10hp

Heracross is firing pretty indiscriminately through the whirlpool. He doesn't seem angry at Heart, though he isn't excluding him from attacks.

Water Gun 2
(5)(1)(1)(3)(4)
(6)(3)(4) Heracross takes 2 dmg 5/9hp

Water Gun 3
(5)(1)(2)(4)
(3)(6)(1) Heracross takes 1 dmg 4/9hp -2 pain. Another clone joins the swarm!

Water Gun 4
(4)(6)(5)
(6)(5)(6) Heracross takes 3 dmg 1/9hp -3 pain. Heracross raises his hands in surrender - if you don't accept his surrender, he'll be KO'd for sure by the remaining Water Gun + Whirlpool's 2 dmg dice.

Either way, Neptune gains 10XP and Heart gains 5XP.

AND, Neptune begins glowing with brilliant blue light! It shines off the dew, the pooled rain, the rising steam closer to the volcano!

The light straightens up and fades, and Neptune has become a bipedal 'kip with a somewhat derpy expression!

Congratulations! Your Mudkip has evolved into Marshtomp!

Oh, that is the perfect item for this encounter. You don't even need a roll. Swablu hops right in and starts exploring, happily munching on birdseed as it goes. You can hear it occasionally bounce off a wall in there, or stick a body part out through one of the openings. It doesn't mind that you're very nearby.

The two giant Victreebel are hanging from branches in the ferny part of the rainforest. You might not have noticed them if you hadn't already been in the mindset of distinguishing various plants. Lucky you spotted them, because their mouths have bits of random Pokemon sticking out.

After Thrawn/Nathan explained everything regarding Juni's upcoming trail/conviction, Terra fully and ardently agreed with every and ALL of the Scimitar's Pokemon being entrusted in Thrawn's custody,  so much so as to walk over to Shiva and gently placed a hand on their shoulder when she voiced her intension of keeping Togepi, giving her a sympathetic but firm frown.

"......Know you and Raphael want......what is best for Togepi. To make them Happy, and for them to.......grow up right. .....But it is not right to keep them. *Shakes head* Not now. Juni......took bad care of them, and is a.......criminal, but she is still there Trainer. Taking them from her.....it would be stealing, and that is not the right thing to do. *Sighs* ...Even to Juni. *Motions to:* Nathan and Thrawn are right too, Shiva. Togepi will be taken good care of by League, and can......help make sure Juni goes to jail. *Frown deepens* .....If she not.....brought to justice, she will cause bad trouble for us, so we can not let that happen. "

".....So please......please give them to Thrawn. Don't want you to do wrong thing......*Frown deepens further* nor would Ven. Okay?"

The mountain of expression is unwavering throughout his speech, but when he namedropped his boss he couldn't help but feel a little guilty for doing so. He knew  how much they meant to the mystical lass, so using them against her in order to dissuade her from keeping the adorable angel that was Togepi made him feel like a heel for exploiting her feelings like that.

Still, he didn't regret doing it, as he not only was he half certain that neither half of the Vishnu couple would take offense to such tactics (It was....hard to say just how his boss would react to everything, given what he knew about them....), but its was his duty to do everything in his power to protect, safeguard, and make sure nothing bad happened to Shiva, which would only naturally include trying to prevent her from breaking the law AND minimize future threats to her, which Juni would most certainly is one if she got to walk free.

Hopefully things will work for the best, but if not......well, he'll find some way to deal with it.

Putting aside the matter of who gets the Trumbeak Feather and what to do with those Rare Plants (Which I haven't gotten an answer back on, Iron), Terra thoroughly enjoyed his time foraging in the volcanic jungle with Shiva. Not only did it give him the chance to stock up on more medicinal plants , but that he got to do so with Shiva, whom shared his deep interest and fascination/curiousness for plants. In fact, judging by how much she seemed in tune and Knowledgeable with/about the splendor of Nature, he has a gut feeling that she's even more of an expert than he was, which he found greatly impressive and admirable. Its not often somebody manages to outdo him, the quintessential rugged, tough as nails wandering monk, when it comes to his area of expertise, after all!

Unfortunately for her, his decade or so of hard earned and finely honed Survival Skill served him much better at finding useful Berries than she, which caused him to frown once he learned of her literally fruitless harvest, before he promptly gave her the Pecha Berry he found. He felt that Shiva deserved her fair share of Nature's bounty for all the effort she put into foraging, so if it wasn't providing for her, then he would. That, and he was just kind and giving guy when he could afford to be!

All good things come to an end, though, for around the end of their foraging session the mountain of a man spotted sight of what look to be a pair of GIANT Grass Pokemon nearby, both of which heavily resembled carnivorous pitcher plants. Knowing that such similarities were rarely just cosmetic/coincidental in Pokemon from experience, Terra was instantly put on high Alert, causing his pleasant mood to sublimate into seriousness as he warily regarded the devouring duo.

"Shiva? *Gets her attention* See those.......hungry Plant Pokemon, Shiva?"

*Motions to them, then turns to her, looking grimly apprehensive*

"....Going to take care of them now, so they don't.......cause problems for everyone.
Be well, and stay safe while I am gone. Call for help if you need it, and I will come. Okay? *Nods* Okay."

Saying thus, he only spared her a moment's more attention to make sure she got his message loud and clear, before he was off, plowing through the thick jungle undergrowth like a juggernaut lawnmower to reach the carnivorous pitcher plants....

Order: Try to talk Shiva out of keeping Togepi, before going off to confront the Duo of Overgrown *Victreebell in order to prevent them from chowing down on anyone! Once he's in range, he'll summon Anubi the Rilou and Tommy the Meowth to face off against them! Time to prune some weeds with men's best friends!

Nathan chuckles, his mood definitely improved somewhat at the sight and sound of this bird's playful antics.  "Thought you'd might like that.  Got another item you might like, too.  Could even use it as bedding if you wanted to stick around.  Promise not to run off with it?  This item is very important to me, so if you try to steal it, my Absol here is gonna chase ya down.  And he's had a rough day, so I don't recommend getting on his bad side."

What is said item?  Why, it's the Primal Altaria Down that Forthright used to sit in all the time!  Should be the perfect size for this tiny Swablu, right?

"I got that fluff from a big, strong, kind, gentle, and warm Altaria I once met.  They were very majestic, and able to summon winds as strong yet gentle as they were.  The fluff is a little souvenir that they gifted to me.  You somewhat remind me of them, to be honest...I wouldn't mind if you decided to stick around.  Might be fun, even.  I tend to find a lot of interesting items on my travels, too.  Maybe you'd find some of them interesting."

A little flattery (because dragons are often proud creatures, after all) and...well, not really an offer to let Swablu join, really.  More like saying Nathan wouldn't try to chase Swablu off or anything if it wanted to be a curious little birdie...

Though now the question is: does Swablu want to stick around to see what else this strange person might be able to find?

Additionally, if Swablu tries to steal something and run off with it, Calam will use Pursuit to hopefully cut off Swablu's escape, if not outright KO it.  Swablu's been warned of this, though I doubt it would heed that warning...

Neat.

Victreebel has 3 Dex and 5 survival and so goes first, barely.

Swablu is very interested in the Primal Altaria down, though Primal Altaria is from a much older time than this. It brings the fluff into the birdhouse and starts reorganizing things to its liking.

Empathy: (1)(5)(2)(5)(4) +2 successes = 5
Will: (5)(1)(1)(3)(3)(1)(6)

Swablu will come along if you keep it in the amazing birdhouse and let it hold the fluff sometimes.

Gotcha! Swablu was caught!
