[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(01-09-2019, 04:14 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote: @Iron, did you account for Tauros having -2 Pain from taking 5 damage in Round 1 when doing that capture attempt?  (3 from Electroweb, 1 from Take Down Recoil, 1 from Confusion)  If you didn't, then Tauros has been captured, and Doduo is still at 4 HP (and possibly Confused).  If -1 Pain had already been accounted for instead of -2, then Tauros isn't captured and Doduo is still at 1 HP and not Confused, but the Safari Ball didn't break.

In addition, Juliet's holding the Eviloite still, so if you didn't account for the +1 Defense, then she didn't take any damage. (and her Illusion is still intact if so)

And it's being a little nitpicky, but...my orders also technically said Nathan would throw a Safari Ball at Tauros after it had been Disabled by Solomon...my bad for the orders being confusing, but that would definitely prevent the Safari Ball from breaking (and definitely result in Tauros being captured if you only accounted for -1 Pain instead of -2)

Took me a long time to figure out what exactly I did, but it was the first thing you brought up - lost track of Tauros' HP damage in round 1. So yeah, Tauros was caught, Doduo is confused and at 4HP. Editing now.

Err.....If I recall correctly, you DID say more or less we could use/create traps to help capture Pokemon, but we had to make sure they didn't do Lethal Damage, or just leave the trapped Pokemon. I should, since I brought up the use of traps and less than wholesome methods to capturing Pokemon in the Safari Zone while skirting da rules. I am wrong here, or have you suddenly made a change in policy?

No *overnight traps. That'll make it clear.

@Spiritmon, how is Heart keeping himself warm overnight?

Also, does he still have the Moltres egg on hand, or did he leave it in the PC? Can't forget about that either.

Oh my...Spira is certainly in quite a pickle, isn't he?

I think I might know what the toe nibbler is, though...and if I'm right, Spira might know without needing to refer to his pokedex, but the species is rare enough in Sinnoh that he also might not...

It's not wise to put a Legendary Pokemon in the PC unless it's absolutely necessary. People like Hayes who have closely befriended a Legendary let it roam Creshire when not needed. If you need your Legendary, they'll know.

@Mikaruge108, I don't think Cacturne B is going anywhere any time soon, given that it's Ingrained...you'll probably have to deal with it whether ya like it or not, given that the Ingrain is also partially trapping Spira from what I can tell from what Iron described.

It took both Cacturne to keep Spira 100% trapped. The point about Ingrain stands, though.

So, here's a quick primer on treating Lethal damage in case you need one, @Mikaruge108:
  • In this campaign, Lethal damage is very hard to heal.  If an item or move effect doesn't say it can heal Lethal damage, it probably can't.
  • In this campaign, a standard Potion heals only 1 Lethal damage.  Super Potions heal 2.  Hyper Potions heal a whopping 7, though, and Max Potions and Full Restores will heal all Lethal damage, so they're much better suited for healing large amounts of Lethal damage.
  • However, keep in mind that using a Potion will then halve the effectiveness of the next Potion you use on the same character if you need to use another one before the next day begins (Ex: Standard Potion 1 heals 4 HP/1 Lethal damage.  Potion 2 on the same character then heals only 2 HP/1 LD.  Potion 3+ would then heal 1 HP/1 LD.  At the start of the next day, though, the Potion count resets).  All potions will always heal a minimum of 1 HP/1 Lethal damage, though.  The exception to this is if you use a Max Potion or Full Restore.  After one of those bad boys, all further Potion based healing is ineffective on that character for the rest of the day (save them for emergencies!). Another important, somewhat related note is that HP healing items such as Berry Juice, Moomoo Milk, and Soda Pop both ignore Potion effectiveness (thus healing the same amount of HP no matter what) and don't cause Potions used later to have halved effectiveness, but can only be used outside of battle and can't heal Lethal damage to compensate for being amazing HP healing items.
  • Lethal damage essentially temporarily decreases your maximum HP until it's healed.
  • If Lethal damage is left unhealed, the character takes 1 point of Lethal damage every hour.
  • A Stabilization check is Dex + Knowledge + Medicine - 3 (due to it being difficult), but it won't heal any damage on its own.  All the stabilize check does is prevent the Lethal damage from accruing over time.
  • The only other way to heal Lethal damage is to get professional medical attention, which usually means paying a Pokemon Center and/or Nurse Joy a visit.
If you're prepared for Lethal damage, it's not so bad.  If you're unprepared though...well, then things start getting scary.
