[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

14Xp.

Mawile: (5) + 7 = 12
Seismitoad: (2) + 4 Dex + 5 Survival = 11, so close

Seismitoad Round 1

-1 offense for Seismitoad
I didn't notice this rule before, but it's clear as day:

Iron Defense 1
(3)(5)(5)(5)(3)(6)
+2 Def for Mawile Now sitting at 8 defense!

Seismitoad's fingers contort with an audible snapping noise. The flesh peels back, revealing finger bones shattered into sharp spikes! Ghostly auras swirl around the makeshift claws.

Shadow Claw 1
(6)(3)(5)(5)(2)(2) (6)(2)(1) Critical hit.
5* Str + 3 power +2 Crit -8 vit = 2d6
(3)(5) The shadowy claws pass through a portion of Mawile's defenses. Mawile takes 1 dmg

Play Rough 2
(3)(5)(2)(3)(6)
(6)(2)(1)(5)(2) Seismitoad takes 2 dmg 8/10hp -1 pain. He has +1 base HP and 4 vit.
-1 Str for Seismitoad, now at 4 Str.

Mud Shot 2
(5)(4)(1)(5)(2)(2)
4 Str +2 power +1 stab -8 vit
(1)
-1 Dex for Mawile. Seismitoad now goes first.

Shadow Claw 3
(5)(4)(3)(2)(3) Here's where Seismitoad's Surprise comes into play! He gets through those defenses just a little better than he ought to, a minimum of 2 dice when using Shadow Claw.
(4)(1) Mawile takes 1 dmg -1 pain.

Faint Attack 3
(4)(1)
(3)(6)(1) Seismitoad takes 1 dmg 7/10hp -1 pain

Faint Attack 4
(1) It hits anyway.
(2)(6)(4) Seismitoad takes 2 dmg 5/10hp -2 pain.

(Mawhile would actually have take 1 Damage from Mudshot, since she's a Steel/Fairy type. Additionally, its a 1D6 Chance Dice to lower STR by 1, so unless you rolled for it but didn't add the result, the toad's offenses may or may not be crippled!)

Since Poli Seismitoad has full HP at the start of the Round but their's no mention of the offer, I assume they were at least friendly and agreeable enough to be treated, but not so much to agree with becoming Terra's partner automatically post rescue and after their battle. In which case, he's completely understanding and accepting about that, but makes it clear he still wants to try and do good by them by adding them to his team. He did rescue them from mortal peril, and naturally want to make sure continue a long time afterwards, so what better way of doing that than just catching and taking good care of them?

That, and the sagely monk is just plain impressed with the bulbous bullfrog for it surviving Giga Whiscash, so he's not letting them walk away so easily if he can add such a hardy Pokemon to his team!

Seeing it pull off what appeared to be Shadow Claw and seeing it seemingly bypass his ferocious fae's titanic Defenses causes him to raise his eyebrows in interest, before nodding to himself and sound off his next orders.

"Pixie, try to surprise Big Toad to......lower their guard, but don't hurt them too much. They have bad time already, so we don't need to be too rough on them."

Orders: Have Pixie use Astonish on Seismitoad 3 times, in the hopes of Flinching it and being merciful with the Damage more than anything else. Meanwhile, Terra will be throwing Safari Balls to catch the warty toad, ideally when its Flinched, but at anytime really. If the frog forfeits from the match, though, then he'll call of Pixie, and again offer it the chance to join his team, with the added offer of telling them he'll feed them whatever they want (I assume its a carnivorous, since all toads are). Let's see if Terra adds another frog to his growing collection of Water types!

Move

Astonish
Accuracy: *6D6 Base Dice (Irritated with it being Stealth Pool instead of Brawl, but thems the breaks.....) - 1 Pain - 2 Actions = 3/2D6 Dice
Damage: 2D6
Effect: *Flinch 3*

When you produce the Safari Ball, Seismitoad holds up a hand and shakes his head. He wants to wait until the battle ends. He feels he could still win this.

Seismitoad Round 2

Mud Shot 1
(6)(6)(1)(3)
(3) Mawile takes 1 dmg

Astonish 1
(5)(2)(1)
(6)(4) Froggo takes 2 dmg 3/10hp

One more round of blows.

Mud Shot 2
(6)(3)(2)(4)
(6) Mawile takes 2 dmg

Astonish 2
(3)(5)
Evade: (3)(6)(5)(4) Seismitoad cheekily Evades the attack. Then he waddles over and lets himself into the Safari Ball.

Gotcha! Seismitoad was caught!
2/2/0
Poison Touch
+1 Str Surprise, +1 Insight. His Claw moves cannot be reduced to below 2 damage dice.
Mud Shot, Aqua Ring, Uproar, Rain Dance, Shadow Claw.
Unlearned additional ? moves: Metal Claw, Dragon Claw.

That encounter was worth 8Xp.

There are also Palpitoad in this muddy pool. If you wanted to catch one without battling it, that could be part of this same Encounter, or you could come back tomorrow.

Obviously, Terra would respect Big Toad's desire to continue Fighting until the end, and so would nod back and stow away the Safari Ball. He's nice and honorable like that!

When the warty toad easily dodged Pixie with a grin he almost frowned, but instead he shook his head and chuckled as he welcomed his newest partner with a handshake (being mindful of the claws, of course).

"Good fight, Big Toad. You did well against Pixie, even with her great Defense. Welcome to our team, partner."

The aforementioned ironclad sidhe rolled her eyes and let out a small huff at her partner praising the bulbous bullfrog effort into beating her up, but in the end she just shrugs it off and walks up to Seismitoad to give him a toothy grin and pat on his leg. Much as she and her new bruises liked to disagree, the big lug was right about it being a fine battle, so she's more than accepting of being the towering toad's partner. Just no more Mudshots, or you'll (Seismi) get the Super Fang, got it?

Upon being capture, Terra sends Seismitoad back to his PC, and decides to go catch Palpitoad if its willing to come along peacefully. He'll most likely give this froggie to one of his friends, as a good Water/Ground type is not something that should be sold willy nilly!

Since it's the end of the day, the sagely monk will follow Geo (How's he holding up from Giga Whiscash, btw?) to a safe location to camp, and have Angie (Who given quite a good rubbing for handling G.W. with relative ease) dig out a burrow similar to the one set up last night for everyone to rest in, with her guarding the top too.

It is during camp that Duskull also gets sent out to have his injuries checked over, before they're given a pat on the head and a friendly yet apologetic smile from him.

"Thank you, Duskull. For.....putting your trust in me, and giving your all to help stop Big Whiscash. Couldn't have done it without you. *Glances away* ......Sorry about threatening too. Didn't like or want to, but.......could not afford you acting out. *Frowns gravely* Not up against a Whiscash. Can you......forgive me? "

No Palpitoads seem willing to come along peacefully - you'd have to toss balls at them against their Will and hope for RNG luck. Though obviously they wouldn't have crazy Will.

Geo is fine, because you advised him to beat feet and he did. Your contract with him says he won't come rushing in to save you unless it's his own fault.

Duskull seems OK with your threats, because he had come to respect you anyway. Might make him a liiittle less Happy, but not much, since afterward he understood why it was necessary, and he's proud of helping.

Welp, looks like the underdeveloped froggies are staying free to swim as they please then! Oh well!

(Neat article, though I hope that doing that isn't too uncomfortable for Poli Seismi. )

(...)

His dread specter's forgiveness causes the mountain of a man to heave a small *sigh....* of relief, and share with them a smile filled with kindness and mild joy.

"Thank you, again. Won't.....threaten you anymore like that, okay? Promise, *Nods*."

*Beat, before letting out a chuckle*

"Heh......we have come far. Once, you hated and....resented me. Everyone. Didn't believe my words.....caused big trouble. Now? *Chuckles, and smiles* We have become partners. Friends. Proved myself, and my.......determination to help you."

*Shakes head*

"That is not it, though. Still have to fulfill other promise. To make you strong, and mighty. Make sure you are always happy, and cared for. And......give you a good life. Will do all that for you, and more, Duskull. No.......Donny. It is the name of a god of death. Your name now. You deserve it. Hope you like it, my friend."

With that said, Terra is ready to call it a night after dinner, content to leave Donny outside his ball to explore the night time surroundings/keep watch with Angie as he snoozes. Before, doing such would be unthinkable, but now.....now he can trust them. Simple.

Quote:Nightshade eats the Snax. Mm, really nourishing!

Awww!~ It's super-adorable for Shiva to watch her beloved cherry blossom happily nom on the freshly-made food by Master. She has to resist gifting her a fond hug but can't help gently stroking over her head. Shiva doesn't feel that she needs words to express to Nightshade that she's happy about the smol cherry having grown so much under her care. (Nightshade will now get +2 dice on her next Training Roll, will note.)

The third Snack is handed for Baby Eevee in Shiva's cupped hand, he's been watching the cooking with such big sparkling eyes that it was almost impossible to not let him have something. "You sure can have a bite as well, lil' one! Enjoy, can you taste how it empowers you to do well when practicing with your companions?~"

Once everything in the Center's kitchen is done and cleaned up neatly, Shiva will retrive her grassy sauropode from Bill's PC in return for Azu ( *sob* ) and retreat back into Celebi Park as far as her feet would carry her, at best to the edge of the park. As soon as she'd get tired and unable to walk much more she'll summon Tropius, great him by cuddling his head and mount him - all of her other Pokemon currently on hand are pretty small, so I'd GUESS there's enough room for them as well on Tropius' back? Shiva will advice them all to stick close to her during the flight as the leafy wings of her flyer began to carry them all up and away from the ground; soon they're flying a few meters above the tree tops.

With Tropius' help Shiva will fly as far into the savannah as possible and as far as it's safe to do (safe = without any wild aerial Pokemon crushing into her), all while safely keeping her Pokemon close to her and Minicorn's Egg warmly in her lap. Celebi Park does feel like a nice place for the kindhearted unicorn indeed, but what about the wide and open savannah...?

As for the third Encounter, how about the flight serving as a possibility for some of her Pokemon to train their moves by themselves/without Shiva directly ordering it to them: Gloom's having fun leaving a trail of pink petals and small green leaves behind them as they fly with his Petal Blizzard, Spritzee enjoys whirling them up with her Fairy Wind while Nightshade completes what looks by now like an all-natural tail of a comet with some rainbow-colored n' magical leaves.

I should be able to stop by again tomorrow but now guarantees.

Cherrim gets a training roll. A Crafting roll!

(5)(6)(6)(2)(4)(5) (2)(3)(4)(6)(1)(1) (6) = 7 bonus

A savannah like this would make a good habitat for a few Minicorn. They do need some trees, but they have an almost magical ability to hide their entire bulk behind one little tree. And no one really comes out into this savannah, so Minicorn will have some time to establish a population before the trainers hear about them.
