There's very much still some risk involved here. We'll be going deep into the Skull Ruins soon enough, after all...

Does the Glass Flute crafting need to be rolled out, @ Iron? All I have in my notes concerning that is the crafter needs a total of 5+ between Knowledge, Survival, and Crafting (plus the IC knowledge, of course) to be able to make the flute, and Nathan's weeeeellll past that point (11 total between those three stats, though only 1 of it is Crafting), but hasn't tried his hand at making glass stuff yet.

We won't bother doing a roll then. I don't make Shiva roll for things that she's surpassed to that degree.

Gotcha. Anything notable that the Glass Flute can do since different color Flutes do different things in the games? Or is it just a nice instrument that pokemon happen to like the sound of in this case?

Yeah, I'd never actually asked about that before now. Would have probably noted that down if I had. If ya find those old notes, I'd love to hear what the options are!
'Nother question, but could Nathan also keep that bag of ash filled since he's making the flute while in the general vicinity of Route 01's ash fields?

You can refill the ash, sure.
All flutes can be used to play tunes like normal instruments. Then they have additional effects if used properly.

Creshire's flutes are a little different from canon thanks to the rules of the game. The first two are best used when I list the Encounter slots.
The White Flute, which the Survivalist called the Clear Flute, calms wild Pokemon. In game terms, this mostly means they are more easily defeated in combat - they'll use less strong moves and have effectively lower stats. At GM discretion, they may also become easier to catch.
This flute requires a little potash to craft, freely available wherever ash can be found.
The Black Flute is more like obsidian or slag. It makes wild Pokemon temporarily stronger and give more XP. Many will be harder to catch and might end up with stat Surprises or stronger moves.
The Green Flute can remove Sleep and Infatuation and Confusion instantly, but not in battle. It requires only ash.
Any other color Flute can be a low-tier valuable item, in which case you do need a roll to see the value.

Awesome.
Let's make this first flute a White/Clear Flute since a) there's a readily available source of ash b) I'm typing up a scene it would make a lot of sense in c) that sounds like it might be really useful soon.

The Survivalist also implied there were other Flutes, including one for the South Wind.

Yes, though only Vincent has heard the part about the South Wind IC so far.
