[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(03-27-2019, 12:51 PM)PhantomUnderYourDesk Wrote: Oh, @Spiritmon, a TM of Shockwave belongs to the things I asked GM to bring up at some point, as I don't have any ways to tutor it to Kyuu myself. The blue psychic cat could use a more diverse move set though, so I'm interested to trade for this disk. What would you wish to have in return, cash, some training of your Pokemon, running errands, tutoring? I've got enough cash to offer since you said you'd like to restock on healing Items after that explosion. I could TRY mixing some for you if Iron would allow and say that she watched how Ventus has done so if the local store sells the ingredients needed, but they're actually not expensive in the first place.

Yaaay, we're getting closer to Elanor!~ Concerning an Encounter to choose from the current list: @Iron, how would Pachirisu react if I'd encourage him to check out that Hidden Crater (No.3) with me instead of approaching the strongest Pokemon around? He told about some weird Pokemon ahead, so I'd explain that I'd like to meet them. I don't wish to loose him or make him sad, but...my intuition points out that crater, and something seems to call for Shiva from that hilltop even. How can I ignore that, so curious! Having a fruitful training battle for Vaporeon in particular is something I can almost always do, but that hidden hilltop seems to be a one-time-chance. If you'd like to roll  to see if Pachi understands and continues to stick around, that's fine for me.

Pachirisu only led you to the strong Pokemon because you asked him too, he'd be fine with checking out the weird Pokemon instead!

Just remembered something now: Terra has at 2 Max Potions and 1 Hyper Potion on his person, so if someone is seriously Lethally injured, he can patch them up in a jiffy. Its part of the reason why he bought those supplies in the first place (Healing Huge and/or Lethal Damage), with the other reason being he owns Giant Snake Poikemon. Just for future reference's sake, since by 'now' Heart and Nathan already used Potions to treat the former's injuries.

Also, Shiva may or may not have a Max Potion anymore; not sure if she her only one on Dizzy/Young Calam , or if she has another one stowed away.

Also also, Terra's rather incessed reaction is in part due to Heart's near Explosive end being a rookie mistake/avoidable, and partly because of backstory reasons. Nathan would know about the later, so his reaction may or may not be tempered by that Knowledge.
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.

Yeah, that's part of the reason why Nathan isn't gonna be too hard on Terra for reacting like that.

So Dragonstrike , you want to handle Onix by yourself, or you want Terra's help? I'm fine with him staying out of the way unless needed, so choice is yours.

Also, who is going to catch it? I personally want it so that I can make a Steelix to sell to Dagny (As I have two Big AND Loysl Snakes already) ,but if you want one of your own to play around with, then it's all yours!

On one hand, I might be able to KO it in 2-4 Rounds, maybe 5, depending on how much Vitality it has.  Might even have a few trump cards that can make the fight easier.

On the other, only half of my team is even able to reliably fight a Rock/Ground type in the first place, and if my trump cards don't work, then I'd be in a bad spot if my usable half of the team is damaged too much.

Your call, I guess?

As far as who catches it goes, I do want to catch it.  Maybe not necessarily to use it (would have to deal with 4+ Disobedience with 0 Loyalty in all likelihood), though the possibility is there.  Onix have an ever so slight hint of draconic ability since they can use Dragon Breath, after all.

Hooray for that. Ohhh, and I don't regret at all that I didn't follow the original track - while fighting a real and vivid Onix would be a nice challenge for Shiva and way for me to test out her new Channel Skills, visiting that hidden crater was a good idea.

Alright, Terra will pitch in to help Nathan then! I'll be only using Anubi against the rocky snake initially, though, since I want my share of XP to only be split between it and Terra since they need to learn Final Gambit ASAP so that I can allow them to evolve. Between Nasty Plot, Screech, and his Fighting STABs, he should be more than able to handle things alone, if Nathan's Pokemon can draw aggro off them while they set up!

Okay, but it may be a good idea to do a round trade with it, as due to Terra's Steel Type Blessing from Jirachi it'll cause Onix to evolve into a Steelix, which while more Disobedient is FAR more bulky and has all its Fang Moves to compensate for that, and Nathan has better means of handling a Steel/Ground type than a Rock/Ground (Swiftfire's Inferno springs to mind - 'Step grossly out of line, and you get grossly burned,' or something like that). If you want to delay that, though, I have no complaints!

How many Pokeballs are you going to dedicate trying to catch it, though? Because at some point, the cost of trying to get a Giant Snake might + Training It may end up outweighing all the Balls spent to get it , unless you get lucky.

We'll see how well Nathan's pokemon do at buying some time, then!

Gonna have to think carefully about what I want to do with it.  With enough blood, sweat, and tears put into raising it, a fully grown Onix is a terrifying sight on the battlefield that's able to carry entire teams.  But it takes a lot of dedication to pull that off, so trading it off for muns/items is another thing I'm definitely considering.

First of all, it needs to be KOed for that -5 penalty.  Statuses will be helpful as well, though I can only inflict Burn, Toxic, and Sleep on it at the moment.  I've got some Ultra Balls handy and plan to get as much as I can out of them! Won't earn any points of Loyalty that way, but it's a lot safer to do tgat than try to catch it with minimal penalties to its gigantic will score! This definitely won't be an easy catch!

I don't remember if anyone's told Spira in character yet, but MSC is Meteoric Superconductor.  It's used in a lot of modern tech in Creshire, and Deyo Flowers are often found growing near deposits of it, which are often left behind by meteor impacts. Rare pokemon can also often be found near Deyo Flowers.

Then let the jolly coop commence eventually!

If you end up wanting to trade it, then it would definately be a wise idea to evolve it into a Steelix first , but beyond that I have nothing more to say about it!

Dunny has access to Confusion and Curse, and Anubi can potentially Paralyze on a Force Palm / Angie can eventually proc it with Held Back/Debuffed Sky Falls (Have any 'mons that can lower STR?) , so after its Fainted we can get up to around - 9 or - 10 Total Will Points deducted from the big o' snakey. Hope that will be enough!
