[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

"...huh.  Guess whoever was there previously knew about several meteor impacts...the Millennium Comet's passing typically brings new pokemon to the planet each time it does, so that's a rather important historical find from the looks of things...knowing what we do and with that record, we could possibly determine roughly when each of the pictured pokemon first arrived in Creshire...astounding...might, uh...want to be careful with that MSC, though.  If you found it where Deoxys landed 10,000 years ago, then it might not be your everyday MSC..."

Nathan sighs when Terra says Deyo Flowers are bad.  "...you picked that up from Ventus, didn't you?  I'd strongly suggest you form your own opinion on that matter, Terra.  These flowers are all over the place around here and have been the subject of a lot of prior research, just so you know.  If there was anything dangerous about them, I think Creshire would know by now.  My pokemon have interacted with them in a variety of ways, and the flowers don't seem to be toxic or anythingFairy types happen to like them a lot, but so do most pokemon that like shiny things in generalI also know that if you grind the petals into a powder, sticky substance and all, you can make a bitter herbal medicine out of them that slightly strengthens a pokemon's ability to take hits.  Orthros can back me up on both counts since he's ingested Deyo Powder himself.  It takes about a bushel of Deyo Flowers to make usable Deyo Powder, however.  Which is, to keep it simple, a lot."

Nathan then redirects the topic.  He's said what he's needed to about Deyo Flowers for now.  "...that's rather...scientific sounding for a cooking class...but hey, learning's not so bad when you put your mind to it, right?  It definitely sounds like you've learned a lot.  You can count me among the ones who are proud of ya for achieving that, Terra.  I'm definitely interested in seeing what you do with that knowledge in the future."

Nathan's very interested in those engravings.  "Oh hey!  More Minior pictures!  Did you know that Minior typically only live in the planet's atmosphere, Terra?  They're covered in thick, meteoric rock that protects their soft, squishy bodies which can be a large variety of colors.  Bust their shells open, though, and they become a lot faster, powerful, and reckless despite their relative frailty!  Or at least, that's what I read about them in an article once...I've never actually seen a Minior before...they're kinda like Tandor's Astronite in that they'll often want to head back up to space for one reason or another.  Minior will usually do it to reform their protective shells, apparently, but there's no guarantees they'll return to their trainers..."

Nathan's also interested in the MSC, but he actually would have expected larger quantities to be located deeper down, not the opposite!  He was about to suggest that they turn around to maybe get some MSC from the upper areas...

The Subterranean Snake: Sunken Hollow Battle - Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

...when that wall bursts open and the massive, typically aggressive Onix appears!  "Holy Shinx!!  Dedenne, stay back!  Ditto, in your ball, now!  Looks like we've got a fight on our hands, and it's not one that's favorable for either of you at the moment!!"

Gallade's instantly ready, knowing that he's one of the only pokemon Nathan has on hand right now that even has a chance of fighting this thing.  Nathan also summons Mizu!  She takes a look around to get her bearings...and ends up looking straight up at the massive rock snake that's almost 5 times her current size.  Ooooohhhhh dear...does she really have to fight that thing?  That large Poliwrath was one thing, but this...?  She's not confident she can take it on...

"You're not fighting it alone, Mizu!  We need to at least try, or we're gonna be in a lot of trouble real quick!"

(I'll wait on the initiative before giving any orders)

Unlike most other Pokemon not native to Hoen, Terra immediately recognizes the towering stone colossus that was Onix explosively making an entrance, and his eyes visibly widen as he quickly backpeddles away to make as much distance from it as possible!

"Onix. Fully Grown Onix. Oh no."

His tone was plain, dull, and filled with apprehension as he stated the obvious, before with a jerk of his head he centered himself and started glaring daggers at the rock garden snake as he plucked Anubi's ball from his belt and summoned them!

"You will not cause us trouble. One way, or another. Your choice."

The steely brawl gravely levels his ultimative while simultaneously motioning for his blue bomber to prepare themselves for one heck of a tussle, his attention squarely honed only on Onix's own. Contrasting the stony seriousness of his master, Anubi only had to take one look at his gigantic opponent for a wide grin split across his face as he eyed them with an almost hungry expression, shifting into his fighting stance like a coil being tightened, ready to spring on his opponent with gleeful abandon! Most Pokemon would have had second and third thoughts about fighting an Onix or other similarly bulky Pokemon, but for the aural jackal having such beasts as his foes was a dream come true, as he could let loose and fully indulge in his passion for Fighting. He didn't have to worry about going too far or having to hold back with Onix, and could truly do as his master often says: fight with all his might, until he could not.

Win or lose, this battle would be a joy to suffer and savor!!

Orders: Not going to wait on Initiative, since my battle plan doesn't really care about if Anubi goes before or after any other Pokemon. He'll be using Screech, Nasty Plot, and then use 3 Force Palms, and if he falls at/bellow 1/2 HP he'll get a Potion to patch up his injuries (preferably before he uses a Move, to min. Pain). If Screech and/or Nasty Plot misses, then redo them before moving on to the next Action. Terra will also be increasing his Brawl Specialty to 5 for 24 XP, as the threat of Onix is making it reach its zenith! That's all, so let's get into smashing that Onix into blissful unconsciousness!

Also, I'd like to see how much Terra Intimidates an Onix, just for giggles. Having a 15D6 Roll on that should count for something and be used when applicable, right?

Moves:

Anubi : 5 Actions - Screech (5D6 Dice), Nasty Plot (6D6 Dice), Force Palm X3 (5/4/3D6 Dice; 8-*10D6 Base Damage Dice [With/without Nasty Plot Boost, and not factoring in Screech], *Paralyze 3*)
Conditional Moves: Repeat Screech and Nasty Plot, if necessary; Will get Potion if HP falls at/bellow 1/2 HP, or a Super Potion if he takes 6 or more Damage.
Dice Pools: 10D6 Dice (Channel), 12D6 (Brawl and Intimidate [Nasty Plot])

*Flashback!*

"*Nods* Hm, okay. Didn't know what cave pictures meant, but they were interesting and important looking, so made sure to......record them in Dex for everyone to see. *Smiles* Glad you found way to.....get more meaning out of them, Nathan. *Beat* MSC caused me no problems, but will keep eyes on it. If something happens, will let everyone know. Probably throw it far way too. Just to be safe. Okay?"

The young intellectual's response earns them a tilt of the head from the mountain of a man, before he slowly shook it.

"Yes. Can't. Part of contract with Ventus says I must.....'be practice utmost vigilance, due caution, and robust concern for Deyo Flowers and anything like them, and to not let anyone fall afoul to their insidious charm and allure.' Was.....very firm on that. Sorry. Never said I could not experiment with them, though. Or had to stop you and the other from collecting them. Only be wary and prevent any trouble caused by them. So Deyo Flowers should not be issue between us. ....Right?"

Conversation paused as he said that, the man waiting for his friend's response with tentative nervousness, before he pressed on.

"*Smiles* Thank you for info. Will be great help in research. Hm....maybe we can work together on it later? Ven said you had some........background with Medicine, and you know how to make Deyo Medicine. Would be nice to have you help. *Shakes head* Don't have to, though. Can handle experiment alone."

The young intellectual's praise and encouragement brings a small but radiant smile to Terra's as he nods his head, looking very much proud himself of his own acedemic progress.....and just happy that he could make his friend happy.

"Right. Was hard to learn Cooking lessons. To understand them, and put them to use. But it was worth it. *Smiles widens* Wouldn't have done it without you. Thank you, Nathan. For giving me......motivation to learn more than I thought I could. That Knowledge.......once distance, now mine. Will use it, wisely.....and become wiser. Promise."

Well, don't that beat all! Terra's come a long way in such a short time, and its all because of Nathan! The power of friendship is truly magical!

As for the Cave conversations, Terra just affably nods along, taking keen mental note just in case he ever happens upon one of the living bits of the cosmos.

*Flashback End (For now)!*

Nathan doesn't have much more to say about the Rooted MSC, but he does give Terra an affirmative nod.  Definitely seems to be something that needs to be watched carefully...

"Flowers shouldn't be a problem, no.  They've never directly caused any trouble in the first place.  Ventus is just being overly paranoid, honestly.  I'm not at liberty to say why, but...take what he's said with a grain of salt if it concerns Fairies or 'magic'.  Anything that seems even a little supernatural.  I wouldn't call the flowers 'bad' just because Ventus does.  You're allowed to have your own opinions too, even if you're supposed to be doing a specific task."

Nathan shrugs when asked if he might be interested in helping with experimenting with the Deyo Flowers later.  "I guess?  I'm not sure how much help I'd be, though.  Most of my medicinal background is just basic first aid from helping out on the ranch.  Nothing fancy like what the Nurse Joys can do.  They went to school for that, and it shows.  I could definitely show ya how to grind the petals into Deyo Powder.  It's not hard, just a little time consuming and repetitive. And messy. VERY messy. Just need to collect at least a bushel of them first."

Terra's final words get an earnest smile out of Nathan.  "Told ya you could do it.  Hehe.  Now get out there and prove it to everyone else, too!  Oh hey, look, there's the quarry!  Maybe we'll be able to find some MSC there that we can dig up!  Come on, Dedenne and Ditto!"

Little did they know that they were soon going to find a lot more than MSC in that old quarry...

*Flashback End?*

(What's MSC again?)
Spira looks at the vendor with the wordless holographic/rainbow banner wearily, he figures it's most likely one of those "Gift Bag" vendors. First stop is checking this vendor out (depending on how much these Gift Bags are, he'll get one), he'll then leaf through one of the books (provided there's a copy for customers to read) The sandpit excursion feels like something geared toward a younger audience than himself to Spira, that and he doesn't wanna get sand in his clothing, again, so he refrains from digging up any MSC right now.

The book you flip through describes Meteoric SuperConductor, the holographic mineral that powers most Pokemon technology, including Pokedexes, the capture web in Pokeballs, and Bill's PC system. This existed in your time, but was only used in badges (and Pokeballs for a few days before you came to the future).

It also describes the legend of the Millennium Comet. The legend is a little different in Creshire - the comet brings a different Pokemon to Creshire every thousand years, introducing new species to maintain variety. No one knows all the species, but Staryu, Clefable, Solrock, and maybe even Voltorb are suspected comet-traveling species. It's also a legend that early comet-travelers are responsible for nearly all modern Pokemon life, encouraged and managed by the first few Legendaries to arrive on the planet. Including Jirachi, the first known Millennium Comet rider!

You also check out the paper bags. "Wonder Trade! Participate in the Millennium Comet Wondertrade! Hand over a Pokeball with a Pokemon inside it, and receive one of these fine Pokeballs in return! The first three swaps are free while the Comet is in the sky! Just $200 a pull after that! Oh, and today only, give your Pokemon a League-approved item and your swap will also be holding an item!" He gestures to a separate section of paper bags.

"Finally, you can pull from the color-coded paper bags, one color for each type! Yellow is electric, a very popular one right now! But be warned, that pool is smaller, so it might be less likely to contain a rare Pokemon. But it could contain something wonderful!"

So basically there are three different Wonder Trade "games" you can play:
1. Random Pokemon swap
2. Item & Pokemon swap
3. Pick a type swap, less likely to contain a rare Pokemon.

The Nuzzle attack does nothing at all, strangely. That makes D-Pikachu pretty nervous!

Xatu does a Future Sight, however:
Future Sight
(5)(6)(5)(1)(4)(3) (2)(5)(6)(6)(2)(6) It will be a critical hit!

A round passes, and a strange humming emanates from the pond. It splits into three part harmony. When the Future Sight strikes, it causes a giant cannonball, splashing a bunch of water and mud out of the pond!

Which reveals a score of Tympole, a few fat Palpitoad, and two giant Seismitoad sitting in the mud. The Palpitoad provide percussion with a smacking sound from their sound organs. The Tympole sing the high harmony, and the two Seismitoad provide a bass so deep and loud it is shaking the meadow. The effect I'm picturing sounds a little like this song, except wordless of course.

They don't seem aggressive, though the ones that took the Future Sight attack have wriggled away into the mud and ceased singing. The rest just seem to be enjoying themselves. The effect feels like they are singing to celebrate something or someone, though.

Mizu: (6)
Gallade: (3) + 11 = 14
Anubi: (5) + 7 = 12
Onix: (6) + 7 -1* int = 12

Intimidate: (3)(4)(5)(1)(1)(4) (4)(4)(4)(5)(5)(6) (1)(2)(2) = 8
Will: (6)(6)(5)(3)(4)(4) (3)(2)(4) = 6

For just a split second, Terra's giant shadow on the wall and his steely essence convinces the Onix it has run into a Steelix. It swerves aside, then realizes its mistake and swings back around. It slows him down enough for Anubi to close that distance, a joyous, reckless look in his eyes!

Actually, the presence is weaker when you go South to the hilltop. It must be North a little.

Pachirisu nods, he has met the creatures who live in this crevice. (Who's That Pokemon??)

When you mention the creatures having heard you, you hear the sound of metal on stone far below you/inside the crevices.

Heart bow in respect towards the Water/Ground Pokemon, in apology for the future sight. "I sorry for that great family of Pokemons. I get myself scare after see the odd movement of the Water, and I already get nuked by a few Electrode Explosion. I beg for forgiviness for Future Sight you guys." Then Heart have a idea. He grab the Pokeballs of Caesar, Rose and Netune and ask to the family of Water/Ground ground band. "Mind if I and my other Pokemon join with you guys to sing and celebrate too? This is a apologize for my previous behavior. I have some music instruments who could help." Heart put out the Shamisen, Brass Drum and the Acoustic Guitar.

If they permit @Iron, Heart, Xatu, D-Pikachu, Rose, Netune and Caesar will join with the music song! In this case Iron what instruments is better for this situation?

He'll do the three free ones, with the following Pokemon:
1. Trapinch on hand, for a random ([Image: GhostIC_Big.png] if there are still any) Pokemon
2. Scyther (Currently in PC) for Item/Pokemon Swap
3. Undersized Azurill (Also PC) for type Swap
