So....which way do we use?"

When Terra posits this idea, Spira says, "That sounds like a good plan, catch it in a pincer attack, and take it down. The question is, how should we split up to do that? I for one am in favor of the Scimitars playing 'bait'"

Shiva would supprt that part. It sounds mean, but she'd reason it that they are stronger + more brave and  that they can fight directly with their gauntlets. Cosh himself and Arachnautilus are very capable after all according to their own words!

She herself got the most fairy magic of the group on her side, so she's willing to fight 'at the front line', so to speak.

"Dark and Fairy aren't the only types fortunate enough to have an advantage type wise.  With a good Foresight or Odor Sleuth, it is possible to make a Spiritomb or Sableye rather vulnerable to Fighting type moves as well.  Pokemon that are resistant to being put to Sleep tend to be good picks as well to avoid its Hypnosis.  What worries me most is that on incredibly rare ocassions, Spiritomb can be almost as powerful as some Legendaries if they've absorbed enough spirits.  It's incredibly rare, but...we are in the Skull Ruins, a place filled with countless Ghosts and lost souls, both new and old...if there's anywhere a Spiritomb can reach its maximum power, or at least get close to it, it's here..."

As much as Nathan supports using the Scims as bait, he's fairly certain that Cosh isn't going to want to let the group out of the Scims' sight.  And Nathan doesn't really want to let the Scims out of the group's sight, either!  This is very much an uneasy collaboration, rife with potential for betrayal and revenge...

Quote:"A Spiritomb? Well, that might be different... Creshirean Spiritomb can become rather powerful... What preparations would you suggest we make, and would you prefer to enter through the archway the Keystone was part of, or go around into the same general area? Either way, we must enter."
In response, Spira says, "I'd sooner face a rampaging Garchomp than deal with a Spiritomb, so as long as we take a path to go around it, I'm fine." He thinks for a bit then shrugs; "If I had to face one, I'd rather try and take it by surprise."

Nathan chuckles to himself, finding Spira's statement a little funny.  Oh, if only Spira knew what pokemon Sinnoh's current Champion specializes in using...

For some reason, Spira's statement about sooner facing a rampaging Garchomp than dealing with an exemplar of THESE creatures makes Shiva believe that Leigh wouldn't even be afraid of doing the former. She'd totally grant her becoming the very first female Champion of Sinnoh and live out her romantic feelings for the spectral Breeder Shiva's standing next to now and to who she's throwing a nostalgic glance from the side.

She's also impressed how even-tempered he's actually keeping himself despite the situation.  +1 admiration!

"Fine, then we'll try to ambush IT by going around with the help of these holes in the wall", Shiva's speaking up in a clear voice while poiting to said holes, "But will ALL of us do that?" She turns her gaze to face the Scimitars: "What about you, are you for splitting up or shall we all take the sneaky way? Cosh, Arachna, you two seem to be the most capable ones with your gauntlets. Bold enough to break down this door and catch IT's attention while we others try to it catch IT by suprise?~ *daring smile*"

When Nathan mentions Foresight or Odor Sleuth, Yena by Shiva's feet gives a mouth and proudly spreads his wings, he knows the latter move (or rather, has enough XP to insta-learn it)! ^o^ But, Shiva herself has a pretty bad feeling about that. "I.... I'm not sure whether it'll even work... You see, IT usually consists of countless single spirits it absorbed, that may make it very hard to really 'determine' the real thing, that ghostly being among them." (Shiva also generally has her head in the clouds = 0 Alert = low dice pool in Odor Sleuth's Accu Roll. I would rather not take this risk.)

"Unless it's a REALLY strong Spiritomnb that's built up a resistance to the moves' effects, it should work.  In the case of Odor Sleuth, you'd probably be tracking the Odd Keystone, rather than one of the spirits that makes up the pokemon.  Probably a lot easier to do it that way since the spirits are all bound to that specific rock."

Nathan's confident in saying that.

"In any case, those moves are really only helpful if we want to use Fighting type moves against a Ghost type with a secondary type weak to Fighting.  Given that Fighting is the only other type that can possibly hit a Spiritomb or Sableye effectively along with Fairy and as a group we have access to a lot more Fighting type than Fairy type attacks, though, I'd say it could be worth at least attempting."

(Yena's not the only pokemon the group has on hand with potential access to one of those moves, either.  The Duskull line can learn Foresight, so Toya can potentially learn it as well.)

(Humm, sounds reasonable and doable. Me feels it's GM's discretion how high the chance is the Odor-Sleuth Idea works on something special like a Spiritomb, my scenic thinking is struggling still.)

Shiva's giving Nathan's counter-argument a good thought, several silent and long 'Hmmmmmm's later she speaks up: "...Alright, maybe it's not wrong what you're saying. But, I would really really rather battle that CREATURE with my fae magic, I am, eh, able to make the most out of that power. You all others could bombard it with Fighting Type attacks if that's more your cup of tee, that's no problem."

She turns towards Spira with a question: "Spira, how's Toya doing at the moment, would you maybe like to have him do that, does he know Foresight? Your big, bulky and loyal spectral companion identifying that beast - I like that."

(If that's no option, I'd like to loan Yena to someone who's having some points in Alert to take this role. Deal?)

(Let's see, Pokemon's xp for my encounter was 32, split 3 ways, 9 to Toya who learned Foresight, 7 to Nubi (Who only possibly needs xp for ? Moves and if I can still teach him moves he could have learned as a Misdreavus), and 16 to Hida, 15 of which was used to learn Incinerate. Forgot to put the amounts and how I used 'em in the thread earlier, whoops.)
(On another note, Spira's current base accuracy roll for both Foresight and Odor Sleuth is 11D6.)
"Toya's in okay condition (Currently at half HP), nothing a Foresighted Drain Punch on a Spiritomb couldn't help remedy." He thinks for a bit; "Then again, a well-placed Rock Smash might be enough to shatter the keystone and severely weaken the Spiritomb."

"If you're going to use Toya, ya might want to consider using a Super Potion or an equivalent item on him.  We'll need to be in top form if we're facing a particularly powerful enemy."

(11's much better than 7d6, which is Shiva's base Accu Pool. That's good!)

'Okay condition' isn't really good enough, her expression becomes worried. "Maybe a Heal Pulse could patch up some wounds a bit further to make sure he'll get to bring up at least one attack on that THING after identifying it." *inquirering glance to Nathan and Heart* "If not, how about a Potion?" Shiva would just hand him one in that case with the words "Here, take one" (I have no idea whether some Potions have already been used on Toya, which would half their effect. Up to you in the end, you can of course just have him fight at half HP if you're being extra-brave. (*>v>) )

Super Potion already used, yay. Now waiting for what the Scims reply to what Shiva asked them.
