[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
"Well, if we're just gonna melt things," Karen uses her portable PC to swap Lotus for Rapidash, "Go, Rapidash!" in a burst of sparkles, the grey-flamed horse appears! If melting some of the ice with a few well-placed Flame Charges/Embers doesn't work, Karen'll use/offer to have Rapidash help 'ferry' the group to the other staircase using Quick Attack and/or Flame Charge to speed up the process

If Rapidash/Nami/Brigid and clear a path and keep it cleared through the ice field, Ran would be willing to forgo his Flight to just follow along with them, as that's less risky than said Flight, though he wouldn't be directly helping them with said melting process (again, don't want to piss off Catherine, so he'll leave Brigid to someone else' command and tell them all her Fire Moves [Heat Wave, Ember, Fire Spin, INFERNO]). In the case of just being escorted on horseback, though, Ran would stick to his original plan, as he's leery about not only riding on a Rapidash (a species known to burn people on contact if they don't trust/like them), but he doesn't really trust that their hooves would have enough traction on the ice to prevent them from slipping themselves without them being superheated (Which posses its own risks).

Oh, and Brigid also knows Rock Slide, so she could also use that to create rumble across the ice field that would be easier for Rapidash to walk/run across, if need be. That too!

Then came Izanami, the magestic ghost bird Pokemon who wave her beautiful feather when summoned. "People, meet one of my fellow ghosts: Izanami-no-Okami. Or just Nami if you want. She know Telekinesis, so she might able to levitate some of us in this bridge enough to go though the other side. I can return her when we are safe in the other side. What you everyone think?"

It only needs a short look from Kee at that big and ethereal Dramsama before he'd face their owner directly with an expression pretty similar to that one when the Temple made fun of him when throwing a Protein right into his face with utmost glee. Aka, an expression that vividly says 'You're kidding and your're not really serious about that suggestion, are you?' Octavia also hisses at that big spectral bird and waves her ribbons fiercely, shedding sparkling scales and fairy dust all over Kee's cloak. Now he has a find red cloak that even sparkles from several angles. 。・:*:・゚’☆

"Listen up, for how long do I know you, Kogeki?" Kee gives him a chance to reply just for the sake of it. "For roughly a day, that's right. That is NOT enough for me to trust you and one of your Pokemon using a move on me, especially not if you're a ninja and said Pokemon is a Dramsama known for trickery and mischief. None can guarantee that your bird won't decide that it's having enough and drop me or anyonelse mid-air, at worst they'll do so ON PURPOSE even. So, thank you, but no thank you. (ಠ_ಠ)" He and Octavia turn away.

As for what he himself would do, he'd let Juhani and Draven suck some energy from that ice with their various lifestealing attacks to weaken it/at best create a path of cracks within it, then summon Core, pick the musical dino up and let him melt said path with his pyrotechnics (Flamethrower), big enough to walk on it comfortably. He'd normally then use that path to cross that with a helping hand lend by his dear faeeveelution, but since it's freakin' cold down here, he'd accept Karen's offer to cross that path on the back of her beautiful and shiny Rapidash. "That sparkling 'n fierly unicorn of yours...." He's asking her while mustering that Rapidash, "...how obediant are they; or to word it differently, how high are the chances that they'll mock up and unseat us? Usually Rapidash only allow those it trusts and likes to mount it." More starring at that Rapidash.

Catherine won't be offended if Randolph helps melt this floor's ice.

Nami gets very huffy and stuck up when Kee and Randolph clearly don't want to put any faith in her, period.  If they aren't going to be polite, then she won't be, either.

Rapidash doesn't even fully trust Karen yet, so riding that horse across the ice is definitely a no-go.  Rapidash is definitely willing to use Flame Charge without any complaint to try and help melt this ice, though.  It is one of her favorite moves, after all.

------------------------------------------------------

It sounds like we're going to be going with a 'melt the ice' plan, so let's get started!  The complication for this plan is that it is FREEZING down here.  Melting the ice will only be effective for so long before the water freezes over again.  The water would be a little less slick than the ice initially, but ice that has refrozen is even slicker than it was originally, as well as harder to melt.

There's also a LOT of ice, so it's going to take a few uses of fire moves to both clear a path and make it safe.  There are patches of dry ground among the ice that everyone can make their way towards, though.

Draining moves from Draven and Juhani don't seem to make melting this ice any easier and appear to be entirely ineffective, unfortunately.  There isn't any natural energy in it that they can drain since it isn't a living thing.

Using a whole bunch of Fire moves all at once does have an effect, though!

Hidden Power Fire
(6)(4)(1)(3)(3)(3)(3)(6)(3)(1)(2) 2 successes.  It doesn't melt very much ice because it's just THAT cold, but...

...the room suddenly got a lot brighter?!  Why does it seem like the room is currently being lit by bright sunlight when you're so far underground?

Currently unanswered questions aside, that'll make the checks for the next few Fire moves easier.

Flame Charge
(6)(1)(6)(3)(1)(4)(1)(5)(3)(5)(2)(3) 4 successes.  Rapidash blazes a trail to a patch of dry ground in the middle of the ice, making it halfway across.
+1 Dex for Rapidash

Flamethrower
(2)(4)(1)(4)(2)(5)(5)(3)(2)(2)(1)(2) 3 successes.
Burn 2: (4) Nope.
Core sweeps his Flamethrower across the trail that Rapidash blazed, preventing it from refreezing before the group can cross it.

Inferno
(4)(3)(5)(3) 2 successes, plus a guaranteed Burn 3 makes it an effective 5 successes.  Brigid widens the area of dry ground in the middle with ease, making it safe for all 4 trainers to stand there.

And thus, everyone gets halfway across the icy floor without much trouble!  The water left in the wake of the Fire types' attacks begins to refreeze soon after everyone makes it to the halfway point.

---------------------------------------------------------

...as soon as everyone gets to the middle, though, the ice covered rocks, both smooth and spiky, being to shudder and shake as if they were alive.  They stand up, uncurl...

...and everyone soon finds their now medium sized patch of dry ground in the middle of the ice is surrounded by a large horde of Alolan Sandshrew and Sandslash.

And the snowshrews definitely don't look like they want to parley.  One of the Alolan Sandslash points its claws at the intruders, and the whole swarm gets ready to pounce on them.

In total, there are 4 Alolan Sandslash and 12 Alolan Sandshrew, each gathered in groups of 1 A-Sandslash and 3 A-Sandshrew.  Male-Female ratio is 50-50 for all 4 groups.

For this battle, an Icy Terrain will be in effect.  All grounded pokemon that are not Ice type receive a -1 Dex penalty due to how slippery the ice is.  Ice type moves used by grounded pokemon will also gain +1 damage die. The current weather is Sunny for the first 3 Rounds of combat thanks to Nagi's HP-Fire.

(Beethoven and Brigid are his choices for this battle! Brigid is holding a Fire Gem currently, and Beethoven his Silk Scarf! Also, due to Brigid's White Smoke, external negative debuffs won't work on her, so Icy Terrain is technically ineffective against her!)

Pretty apparent you don't care about anything but yourself, so why should I? Otherwise, you wouldn't appear like such a damn embarrassment for Kogeki. *Shakes head dismissively* He deserves better from ya, not your worst, and you're giving him only that now."

Keep digging yourself deeper, Ran. You'll eventually hit rock-bottom....or boiling magma.

Fufu, that's nothing Kee cares for, as he has his own reasons for not trusting that bird. Reasons that make sense TO HIM, if they mean nothing for that Dramsama with their different mindset, so be it then, let them be huffy and stuck up if they like. He only gives her a short glance from the side when they express their displeasure, but Octavia, bless that bold and protective Sylveon, hisses at that bird once more just in case they didn't get the message of 'Stay away from him unless you're willing to take on me' the first time.

Unlike Ran however, Kee's smart enough to not anger Dramsama further as he's aware of their vengeful and sinister nature. Makes him wonder whether Kogeki's exemplar is obediant at all, they better are. Oh, and to prevent Ran from figuratively and literally digging his own grave by messing with that Dramsama further, Kee would give Ran a handsign that he shall better not press further, at worst he'll let Octavia pull Ran away from the presence of that spectral bird.

Ah, the delight of having successfully crossed that icy field did not last for long, but much to his own luck he's already having his musical dino out and about. He's just lazing around there in Kee's arms in between spitting flames, not even reacting much as all the Sandshrew and Sandslah reveal themselves; in contrary even, he just yawns. "No, ya can't sleep now. Come on, I'm in need for your powers a little longer, we'll deal with 'em fast and THEN you can go back to leisure." All of that is spoken in a normal tone of voice, faintly encouraging even, but not in the slightest annoyed - he's used to that lax attitude of his Paraudio. Kee knows that's Core's capable.

Very well then - all alone he'll be in trouble though, so accompanying him in this case is his beautiful soloist of the sea, his Primarina comes out of her Dive Ball in a graceful way and lands on the field with finesse. She takes one look at the foes she's asked to face, then melodically chuckles to herself with an expression of 'Oh stop it you!~' - so many attendants for her show! <3 "That's right Aya, showtime with YOU as the lead."

Gama, at Kogeki's instruction, hid near one of the metal rocks and used Camouflage (which turned him into a Steel type) to hide, just in case anything happened.

And sure enough, something did.  Let's see if he can sneak up on some of these Alolan Sandshrew and make this fight a little easier for someone.

Stealth: 9 D6 with the Icy Terrain Dex penalty
(6)(5)(6)(3)(5)(2)(1)(5)(4) 6 successes.  That's good, but can the snowshrews match it?
Alert x3 (since Gama is only trying to preemptively attack one of the groups): Each of them has 8 D6 in their Alert pool.
(3)(2)(1)(5)(6)(6)(3)(4) 4 successes
(3)(4)(5)(3)(6)(6)(2)(4) 5 successes
(1)(3)(2)(4)(5)(1)(4)(5) 3 successes

Gama sneaks up on Group D's Alolan Sandshrew, drawing his shadowy kunai in preparation for his Hidden Power as he does so.  And then before they notice he's there...

*slash!*

*slash!*

*slash!*

...he's dashed past and through the lot of them, leaving deep scratches in their armor with the shadowy kunai as he slips past their guards!

Hidden Power Dark Ambush
The Stealth Check was a 100% success, so the attack gets a power boost for this encounter!  And it crit, too!  Gama became Dark type!
3 Str + 3* Pow + STAB - 3 Def + 2 Crit = 6 D6
(6)(3)(1)(6)(2)(1) Group D A-Sandshrew all take 1 damage. 5/6 HP
(5) (6) (5) One of the A-Sandshrew Flinches!

Which pokemon is Kogeki sending out alongside Gama?  Or is Gama fighting solo?
